Really nothing makes me love this game more than laning vs Illaoi

getting pushed into tower and dodging every single e but one and then losing half my hp only for her to ulti dive me and melt my hp in .1 second xD

u can play as safe as u want but u make ONE mistake and you have just lost all cs humanly possible as a melee.

i mean ONE mistake where u get hit by an e. ONE mistake. thats all it takes for her to become an unstoppable killing machine. you dont even need to die for her to shit on u.

cant gank her because muh ulti.

teamfights are basically wait for illaoi ulti get the fuck out then reengage if one of them fucks up.

balanced champ very fun laning phase all around give the champ creation team a 10/10 when it comes to proving brain cells are nonexistant in the riot industry

same goes with fiora except u can play around her kit now. illaoi is bullshit in lane.

The ult needs to be changed so the only place that hits with multiple tentaces is a teemo sized hitbox in the middle. As it stands, you're already getting double screwed because its hitting you and your spirit. The idea of allowing multiple tentacles to hit you (and your spirit) on top of that on top of illaoi herself dealing damage to you is ridiculous. Lets not forget the fact that you haven't farmed for the past 10 minutes because every time you do she rips out your spirit. and you spend the next 15 seconds dodging tentacles out of xp range from the minions.

I mean, I've seen people beat her. While she is OP there are ways of not being completely destroyed by her. I usually don't ban half of those you've listed because I don't see them as major threats/easily kill-able with a certain comp. Yasuo, Singed, GP are all really great against her. Even Trynda-queer isn't that bad against her.

I mean, she can dick on him if she gets the advantage, but if he manages to hit 6 and not feed her before then he can put up a fight with jg's help if he knows how to ult correctly. His ult will come up before hers (That's with normal cooldowns) and he does have an advantage with getting away. Should she turn for a moment he can slow her and get out faster with his spin. I've seen good champions do bad as I've seen bad champions do good. It's all the player's knowledge, itemization, and team if illaoi will do good or great. It goes for any champion really. I personally hate to see a Blitzcrank in my botlane because of that pressure he adds to squishy supports like Janna and Sona. That doesn't automatically now mean Blitz is going to be pro and win his lane JUST because that champion is picked. I WILL SAY I completely agree that she's OP. I think her ult needs a nerf, personally, but she's not the most broken champ in the game..

Who are you playing vs her? Because she has so many bugs you can basically cancel 80% of her damage if you play the correct champs (and there are a lot of them)

Did you know that you can block her E with any pet Q?

Ekkos Q Swain Q Kat Q Akali Q

Even ghosts from Frost Queens Claim will block it.

Or that if you force move her when she has W active it will lock her out from being able to use it for 6-8s?

Illaois is so broken as in buggy its not funny.

Honestly She would be a lot more bearable if they just made her tentacle hitbox reasonable and made tentacles have hitbox indicators when she ults(she normally does but they disappear while her ult is active)

THey do have indicators and they are the size of her attack. They are just not very vivid and dont stand out much.

Unlike Kats Daggers They show a indicator for where she will pick it up. NOT for the size of the AOE when she picks it up (which is STUPID huge in size)

Or Lux's Ullt that hits WAY wider then the indicator shows.

Her ult tentacles are 50% faster and there are typically more of them. It probably creates a lot of visual clutter if they are added in.

Thought: make her ult a channeled ability. I can think of many ults that are are less impactful that have to be channeled.

I'm a Mastery 6 Illaoi player, and her real counterplay is that she's the only Juggernaut where you can dodge basically all of her damage. Tentacles are horrendously slow, only being difficult to play with within her ultimate. Her E is slow and has a long cooldown. She also runs out of mana very quickly and pushes like a madman with her Tentacles, so ganking her pre-6 is probably one of the easiest things in the game. She loses to range like every other Juggernaut and can be beat by the same types of champions as well - Fiora, RIven, Trundle, Tahm Kench. Nasus and Darius are the two Juggernauts that do the best against her. If she lands her E, don't be an idiot and let her beat you up for free - either run away and take the Vessel debuff, which isn't as bad anymore, or fight her! The spirit duration is reduced every time you damage her.

Once she hits 6, you can still gank her. Bait her ultimate, make her miss her E. Or, you know, just disengage, since she has no way of making you stay within the boundary of the ultimate. When I play against Illaoi and I am not able to kill her at 6 or successfully bait her ultimate and then kill, I just come back the second time when I know she doesn't have it. It's like Ahri ult or Zed W or Flash - Illaoi isn't a champion you can gank whenever. She also relies incredibly on snowballing and falls off hard if she can't establish a lead on her opponent. An Illaoi that isn't super ahead come lategame will accomplish very little outside of spirit pulls. Illaoi's ult scales directly with her performance and where it occurs - if you can get it in a chokehold of terrain, or manage to hit 5 immobile champions with little CC (which is a disaster of a team comp anyways), then maybe you'll get something out of it while not ahead. Other than that, nada. She's the Shaco of top lane - she scales with how dumb her opponent and jungler are.

She is incredibly strong. You need mobility, tankiness and a huge amount of CC to counter her. I suggest running Nautilus top against her IF you have a jungler that can deal huge burst early game (Rengar, Lee, Kha). If you have any of those and you pick Nautilus and you don't die any other time, you will have an easy time with all your CC.

Alternatively, just pick Poppy or Darius and fuck her up. They are both broken as shit ATM, so why not?

I told you when to pick Nautilus. Also, Nautilus can be quite mobile with his Q and his lockdown can take long enough for ANY good jungler to burst her.

Darius will outdamage Illaoi even if she lands an amazing E. Illaoi loves long fights and so does Darius.

naut q is on like a 12 second cd and it takes so long to finish off the gap closer. u can just e him when hes qing the wall or whatever for an easy half hp "outplay"

illaoi sustains more than darius my dude so he will get blown up before he gets 5 stacks early.

Don't need much CC, as long as her E is missed, just mobility is enough (engage and dissengage). CC is useful for hitting her without letting her E you tho.

Yeah, I just love playing a little minigame every two minutes because I'm playing Nasus and she can E my big hitbox any time I go to Q a minion. Real fun getting slowed, then having to back away and spend the next ten seconds dodging tentacles after she's stolen 10% of my hp from my spirit.

change your matchups, she could just be cancer against the champs that you prefer to play top.

Singed ruins her entire kit, I had a recent matchup where every time she would land an e, i would simply fling her off of my spirit and the poison ticks would damage her enough to make it dissapear quickly, yes I would take some damage but she would take more from the fling and poison, winning the trade. You can straight up destroy her tentacles right in front of her, and if she w's you you fling lock her immediately and run FORWARD after the fling to dodge the tenty slap.

I have other picks that work well into illaoi but they are off meta like Nunu Leona, so im not gonna get into that.

My point is when things are frustrating you, you have to adapt your playstyle. The likelihood of her being nerfed isnt so great because Illaoi really is not problematic in the grand scheme of things.
