The smurf/boosting is out of control.

Played a game where I was against a jungler who got 20+ kills, most solo.

In a plat 3 level game.

He was "gold 3" with a 80% win rate. No last season history.

One of his premades, a "platinum" player, was s5 gold and s4 silver, but this season mysteriously has 60%+ win rates in plat. All of his recent ranked games of course had both of them together.

Luckily, a single fed player cannot carry the game if the team is too heavy and the enemy team has cohesion, doesn't mentally ff and keeps crushing other lanes. We still won because we kept crushing the partners. But we almost lost. It was by a hair that we won.

I've never noticed smurfing become such a problem until this season. Literally every other game I see in lower levels, there's a smurf who is obviously not silver/gold and is crushing. In plat, maybe every 5 games, there's a smurf.

These ruin game quality, and the types they boost also ruin game quality. It becomes a race of whether the smurf gets fed enough to demoralize your team, or whether you can crush their premade before he gets fed enough and make them too heavy to carry.

Well, what do you expect? Boosting services can now boost 5 accounts at once instead of just 2. It's much more profitable.

Smurfing also lets people boost their friends easier than ever thanks to DQ which is probably why you see more.

Just had a match where our top lane Ekko says "I'm tilted" 15 seconds in.

I'm just chilling out farming and I hear "FIRST BLOOD!" at 2 minutes in. Yes, that's right, he died during the first wave.

He TPs back top. Ya know, nothing big. Ekko isn't super hot level 1. "An ally has been slain".

He dies 12 times and had 3 cs at the 10 minute mark.

To get an idea of how bad that is... when I 1v1 bronze players, I was only able to get 5x their cs and kill them 2-3 times. This guy literally TPs back to lane to feed again.

How are these guys 'plat'?

I'm B4, lost every Ranked game, but even I'm not stupid enough to act like that. After the very first death, it's obvious the enemy laner would have item/gold advantage.

Depending on the scenarios, I could also be targeted more for ganks/etc specifically because I'm more behind. So I'd either stick closer to tower or ward if I ever go past the river entrance.

I'd be focusing on just farming and catching up on CS/experience/gold/etc. If the enemy laner then makes a mistake, I'd punish him as best as I could for it without taking too many unnecessary risks. Otherwise, I'd just poke them every now and then when I could, but otherwise just stick to CSing.

When a guy that's supposed to have MMR of 100 or 200 is in plat games of MMR 2000, that's what happens.

Look at my last viktor game. The enemy Azir trashed me so hard in lane i felt like i was playing like a bronze. His mechanics were really insane then i looked up his profile: Last two seasons bronze 4 and silver 5. This season already plat 5, with 63% winrate and 80% winrate in his last twenty games playing most of his games with premades.... Clearly not a high diamond/master player boosting this account AND his friends...

Smurfing and Boosting are certainly intertwined, and Riot's official response right now is that both are fine.

Well I guess if they say it, then it must be true!

Some people would point the finger at Dynamic Queue and say this is the main culprit, but I say that there is something bigger at hand and dynamic queue is getting more flak than it deserves (admittedly it has many problems, so it is far from innocent).

The fact of the matter is, as long as there is nothing to restrict or limit the creation of smurfs, said smurfs will negatively influence the ranked progression system.

Even if we brought back a solo queue system, disbarred duo queue or any kind of premade save for 5v5, smurfs would still be here and they would STILL be causing trouble for players trying to make meaningful progression.

Boosting will always exist because there are some people who want a rank they doesn't honestly deserve and will do anything they can to get it, so as long as there is a market for that people will do it.

If they can't get boosted from playing with others who are smurfing, they will just pay those people who smurf instead to play their accounts like they did in the past.

Well, is actually the parents of these boosted player for no teach them to achive things by themselves. DQ is just an enabler but is under Riot's control so is also Riot's fault.

Mojihito6661 votes

And remember the more Noob you are the bigger the odds you will have smurf in game.

Also the odds are against you ( more probable smurf will be on enemy team then yours )

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

Nah mate, DQ definitely makes it worse. Especially in "higher" elo like high plat players are actually able to handle a fed lane. If it would only be some diamond/master player there is a good chance for you to still win the game. Now you can have the diamond/master trashing your lane AND telling his two premades on how to win the game. That's far different from one smurf trying to make some calls. There is a big chance his team is trash and refuses to listen in a three men premade team this chance is basically zero.

Watching a gold friend play right now.

The Lux support doesn't know how to detonate E and stands still next to tower even when lane is pushed out.

Jungler on other team is level 2 at 5 minutes. Didn't get invaded.

This is "gold".

69982196_DEL1 votes

No, this is sad... mostly cos I'm gold.

BluePolarizer1 votes

It's not gold. It's "gold". I was gonna check to see how much those guys were duoed, but decided... nah.

Astôlfo1 votes

You mean the instant-E bomb with double-tapping E or just detonating it at all?

BluePolarizer1 votes

Literally not detonating E at all.

I would understand people with lag not being able to doubletap due to fear of missing or due to lost signal. But not detonating at all after 3+ seconds, or Qing in the opposite direction of the opposing ADC? lol?

I promise you plat5-3 is the plateau those individuals can reach. As a play 2 currently (still climbing) I immediately recognize when an invidual doesn't belong in this elo (mid main xerath). My advice, notify your jungle to put pressure on there's and be incredibly receptive to map awareness. You will for sure win your lane while your opponent suffers. I always view it as free feed.

BluePolarizer1 votes

I was the jungler. The enemy jungler was the smurf. I killed him once and then afterwards, he destroyed all lanes. They put the people who don't belong in less critical positions.

Alüe1 votes

I know how it is, you just have to exert incredible pressure on the enemy jungler with your lanes helping. It's really dumb but hey that's what happens at higher elos even

BluePolarizer2 votes

I get camped in my own jungle due to premades often, while since I am a solo jungler, I can't do much to convince my own premade to help me. It is a worse time than ever to be a solo jungler.

HZB1 votes

I mained jungle to start this season and quickly realized that playing jungle as a solo player was basically signing up to 1v3 at all times. Playing leblanc mid in normals is now the only way I can have fun playing league.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

I got bored from only playing mid/top so i decided to play some jungle again. Picked lee sin (only jungler i can actually play) and run into a 3 men premade team. I ended 2/10/5 or something like that. Mid, jungle and adc were premade. At the moment i entered my jungle they were already waiting for me and killed me over and over again while trashing the other lanes.

But 1v3-ing is super fun! Riven

MunchCrunchLunch1 votes

seen that multiple times. dynamic boosting my friend. you can have smurfs but with DQ you can have smurfs boosting non smurfs

Jesus is Savior1 votes

As a solo player.... Why wouldn't I smurf? Climbing on my main account has become such a pain in the ass. Every game is a shitshow of "who got the better premade?"

I'd rather just stomp bronze/silver and get 20+ kills per game. It's more fun. Especially with solo queue never coming back.

DynamicQ + smurfing is the most retarded system for ranked there can be.

Like seriously, the most retarded.

played vs a Season 5 Diamond.

This season? Oh, just plat 5 with a 46% winrate after 440 games. No biggie. Nothing wrong here fam.

wait for it...

BOOSTED

BluePolarizer1 votes

nope he's being held back by dynamic queue. there are actual diamonds, who post on their diamond accounts here, that can't carry bronze due to how heavy premades are.

DREADN0UGHT3 votes

If you are in Diamond, but can't carry bronze, its not a game problem.

I'm Gold and I can carry bronze.

Errastas1 votes

I was S5 Plat and 4-6 placement put me in Silver. I'm only playing a few games every two weeks, but climbing out of Silver as a solo support is definitely harder than previous seasons.

Wild Geese1 votes

Smurfing to stomp low level players is the most toxic practice you can do in League. Yet Riot is OK with it. Why? Because Smurfs pay money for XP boosts then champs and skins I guess.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

All i can say about this topic is that back in season 2 when i started riot always said smurfing/eloboosting is illegal. They even called smurfing illegal and bannable.
