Why are we locked into honoring 1 person?

I just won a 4v5 game that was 4v5 from level 1 and really felt that everyone deserved an honor. Nobody flamed anyone, we all worked together very well, and no one was calling for reports in all chat on the AFKer. How much more honorable does it get than that?

After about 15 minutes in we just had Taric, Zyra, and Ezreal group mid while Jax cleared minions and stopped Renekton's split on the side lanes.

Ok sure but why7 votes

They should change it to at least "Most honourable" as a quick-fix solution, so everyone else can get honoured as well

Everyone beong limoted to 1 honor actually gives value to honors. If you could honor everyone, Riot wouldnt be able to reasonably give them as much value as they currently have wothout honor bloat.

The goal is that honoring is a valuable action, not something that can be thoughtlessly traded. You have only one so what you do with it matters. If you could honor everyone, the system would go back to its former self, invisible.

In order not to inflate the currency to the point that it means nothing.

Had the same happen to me yesterday. Our support was lagging a bit early so she couldn't play well, she was eventually able to fix it, but before then our adc went afk after giving three kills. The game stalled for a while, but we eventually stomped the enemy team with little resistance despite us being only four. We worked and communicated really well, i thought it was a shame that i couldn't honor everyone (beside the AFK obviously) [sg-soraka]

Tech limitations. They've already said they're working on multiple honors and being able to honor enemies.

What tech limitations? Honoring whoever you want used to be a thing and now it isn't. Tech limits don't get worse as time progresses. If they do, I think some people need to be fired from Riot.

Basically (AFAIK) the current honor system shares little to no code with the old system, they had to rebuild it from the ground up for the new client or something. They released it at partial functionality (only honor one person, must be from your team) in order to be able to release it sooner.

Mind you, I'm not sure WHY it's taking this long, maybe they hit a snag or fired the one guy who knew the system, but that's the explanation we got.

They're looking into opponent honor, but they're not going to allow multiple honors in your team.

wouldn't it break the game when 5 people are queuing ?

taking a wild guess but it's probably so people don't abuse it in premade groups. Example 3 people premade the honor each other so basically all 3 walk out with 2 honors each.

To prevent premade teams from circlejerkong even more

The feels when your adc carried you but your support carried them and your mid did his job well and top and jungle were positive. Oh wait... this never happens

also I feel honor categories are useless. most peple just gg whoever carried/their premades

It feels like most of the time you want to honor multiple people is because you had a really good game.

And most times not everyone uses their honor is when there's a bad loss.

It seems odd that a system not meant to correlate with the game outcome would get heavily used in wins and almost never used in losses.

I don't view honor that way at all. Even if I would have had a terrible game in the one mentioned I still would have wanted to honor everyone because they didn't give up and call for reports after an AFK. They played safe, farmed up, got a level advantage by being outnumbered, and helped each other as needed. Almost every game I have ever been in with an afk there are people whining about it the whole time spending more time typing than playing leading to a crushing defeat or further people going afk. If my team didn't overcome the 4v5 and ended up losing in the end because the numbers disadvantage I would still want to honor them.

When I lose I often honor people who don't tilt. I don't even care if they go 1/10/0. I'll honor them if they aren't being toxic in chat, especially if my team is flaming them and they don't retaliate.

I'd argue you're more of an exception to the rule.

Most games I play, if someone does extremely well and hard carried, they get lots of Honor. Otherwise bot Lane honors eachother, and then support/jungle/mid get some honor based on how much they roamed/ganked. Even though no one said anything all game, Everyone pinged similarly, etc...

Honor is earned based on how enjoyable you made the game for your allies, which often translates to how much you helped them get fed or win. Generally in a loss, there wasn't more than one person doing that stuff.

While there may be exceptions (where you lose due to one player and want to honor the rest) they're probably rare in comparison to the all-around good game where people would just honor their whole team.

Sadly, w/ rewards being linked, they are afraid to allow too much honor or more rewards will go out. They have said before they want it to only be for one person on the team who was above and beyond. You had a 4v5, you want to honor your whole team.. Riot only wants you to honor the one of 4 who stood out the most.. It would be nice if they allowed you to honor more than one person, just doesn't sound like it is really even being looked into atm.

I would like a system that weights each person's honor by how much they use it. If you are one of those who honors every person on every winning team your honors are worth almost nothing. If you are one of those who honors people who make great shot calls or come back from being way behind instead of just anyone who carries you, your honors will be worth a lot. A lot of games that I win I could care less who is honored but I just do it anyways. If the system was changed to be weighted, I would often not honor anyone and then I would have games like this 5v4 where I honor everyone.
