The sad thing is, atleast 5 champions came to mind when I read this, and I couldn't pin point which you are talking about.
because there was obviously a reason they made a change to begin with. They have problem A and try to fix it, and it results in problem B. Why would they just revert back to problem A instead of trying to come up with a solution to problem B? Trying to fix problem B might result in problem C, but it's better than just going back to something you already know doesn't work.
Because reverting a change means they made a mistake which Riot doesn't do.
Oh i thought we were going to talk about nerfing a champion because of an item, then nerfing the item, then leaving the nerfs on the champion..

Small pick rate, good winrate. Defined strengths and weaknesses. MYMU comes along and screws it all up, puts all his damage into voidlings and gives him one of the best passives in the game.
Something similar also happened with Vel but he's okay again now. Even if he doesn't have a unique build path anymore.
