Remakes should not use up a game of Autofill protection unless you are the reason for the remake.

warpenguin555··268 votes·6,332 views

I dont understand why you lose a game of Autofill protection when somebody on the enemy team never connects. That guy's bad internet had nothing to do with you, so why should we have to be autofilled sooner because another players internet went down at the start of the game?

Last night I went through 5 games (normal draft) and got top/mid which were my 2 selected roles. Sadly 5 dodges later the game I finally get to play is as support.

Feelsbadman.

Yea, this drives me fuckin insane. I don't mind supporting once in a while but the amount of dodging that occurs pretty much guarantees you'll auto fill every 3 games. I've actually started dodging auto-fill myself. If others don't want to do it why the hell should I.

JQKAndrei2 votes

Because if you learn to play support you'll be wrecking the enemy botlane which will have an autofilled guy as well.

Because if you learn to play support you'll be wrecking the enemy botlane which will have an autofilled guy as well.

Support is one of my main roles but I absolutely cannot carry feeders like I could with my best role and champ which is Kayle Top this season. And besides, I feel like I'm the only one that doesn't dodge auto-fill so I'm probably playing vs people who aren't auto filled since I'm only auto-filling because of 5 dodges.

Tangy Citrus3 votes

Is playing support 1 game faster than before that huge of a deal? In ranked, its the win that matters - just play a support that can carry like zyra or karma, in non-ranked you can play some off meta supports that you have fun playing if you really really hate it and very few people will complain about it.

ManiacalCoyote18 votes

just play a support ... like zyra or karma

Then, your team of squishies orders you to play a tank, and your "Master smurf" Vayne feeds for 15 minutes then AFK's because you didn't know how to play a tank support.

MonkeyMadness3 votes

TBH everyone should know how to play support. It's not difficult at all, and being able to play support (and jungle) will force you to develop real game sense and map awareness. These fucking imbecile one trick adc/top/mid mains are pure cancer because they legit don't know how to play the game, they only know that one role and really only 1 or 2 champs in that role.

ManiacalCoyote4 votes

No, the problem I pointed out is that somebody might be a Mastery 7 on a mage support or heal support (Lulu, Soraka, Morgana), but are forced to play as a tank because "oh, they're the support, their feelings don't matter. Let's go squishy, and bitch about idiot support who wouldn't tank for us."

MonkeyMadness1 votes

Mastery 7 means literally jack fucking shit. Playing the game a lot is NOT the same as being good. Fact.

Learn to play support, or don't play the game. Very simple, and clearly that is the rule Riot is enforcing here.

Bard Blyat Bard2 votes

If the matchmaking would work, a Mastery 7 means you are knowing your character well enough and prove that in the past by earning several S or S+ IN YOUR RANGE OF SKILL. A Silver V support is still a good support in Silver and Bronze and maybe Gold, but not Platin. That's what leagues are for. You can literally do play your champ it and are cappable.

That does NOT mean you are not allowed to have average games or feed because of Dynamic Queue/Flex Queue nonsense that can not work (how to calculate MMR handicaps? That's just plain impossible), a leaver on your side that lead to enemy snowballing which on the other hand breakfasts you because of fast snowballing (and you are not allowed to stay AFK due to Leaverbuster, so you're literally forced to die a lot) etc. etc.

MonkeyMadness1 votes

LOL earning an S or S+ in your range of skill means nothing. You can get such rating even after a loss (it's hard, but I've done it more than once). You can also get lucky, or get carried (meaning you had a team that stomped and you just rode the wave for the S). Mastery is purely a gimmick designed to show that you play a certain champ a lot, nothing more, nothing less. Stop acting like it means you are good.

OyddAWqJ5r3 votes

That's pretty much me in a nutshell. But I've always been like that even since the S1 days--didn't stop me from making Diamond then.

Allowing players to select their role only made the game way better for people like me and also meant that I would never have to truly learn the support role. Even way back then when we had to play support if you were 5th pick I would just pick Ali/Blitz and have 0 clue what I'm doing outside of destroying enemy champions lmao.

Who wards?

MonkeyMadness1 votes

If you can't play all roles at a reasonably competent level, then I have very serious doubts that you are anywhere near diamond, at least of your own accord. If you don't have a functional understanding of each and every role, and realistically, every champion, you simply CANNOT be a good player. Understanding the dynamics of other positions/champions and match ups beyond your own little world give you the necessary insight to make decisions to benefit the team as a whole. Without this game knowledge, you are NOT being a team player, and you simply will not win games.

OyddAWqJ5r5 votes

Whole lotta asinine assumptions being made here. But the fact is that regardless of everything you said, I still made Diamond right?

You assume solo lane only's don't know teamwork cuz we only solo lane. Boi... the entire game past laning is teamwork ofcourse we know whatsup.

And yeah, I solo Q'd. I happened to have a functional understanding of each and every role and every champion and thus am a good player. I understand the dynamics of other positions/champions and matchups "beyond my own little world" that give me the necessary insight to make decisions to benefit the team as a whole. With this game knowledge, I was a team player and I simply won games.

But you're too stuck in your own little world where you believe everyone else is stuck in their own little worlds when in reality it's just a self-centered egotistical mindset you've got there boi.

If you can't play all roles at a reasonably competent level, then I have very serious doubts that you are anywhere near diamond

Well uh... I kinda exist and I am definitely an incompetent support. Also it was kinda a fact so like... you can't dispute it. You're a real silly one lol. Not everyone needs a hands-on run with each champion in each role to know what each does. We have a Wiki for that and just general game knowledge that builds up over time.

MonkeyMadness1 votes

I still made Diamond right

Funny thing is, you're plat...

the entire game past laning is teamwork ofcourse we know whatsup.

LOL you're argument precludes the fact that because you participate in the game therefore you understand it. Wake up and realize that understanding the ENTIRETY of the game is much more valuable to any team that specializing in 1 role or worse, 1 champ.

boi

Here you are insulting me while using this kind of language. Grow up, kid.

I kinda exist and I am definitely an incompetent support

And you are currently plat 3 so according to your shit logic, I am 100% correct.

You're a real silly one lol

Don't you mean "You're a really silly boi lol"?

Not everyone needs a hands-on run with each champion in each role to know what each does.

Did I say that everyone needs to play every champ at every role? No, and if this is how you interpreted my statement, please recuse yourself from this debate before you hurt yourself. However, if you CANNOT play a role, it means that you fundamentally do not understand it. I am no superb ADC, but I understand the mechanics and can FUNCTION at the role if it becomes necessary. Way to many players literally have a 0% win rate outside of their 1 or 2 champs, and this is pathetic and frankly, TERRIBLE for game health.

OyddAWqJ5r1 votes

Boi is an insult? My bad then didn't mean to offend you by assuming your gender.

Never said I am Diamond. Said I was. I don't play as often as I used to and that's pretty fatal in this constantly evolving MOBA. Just started playing again recently and I'm liking these Assassins though so I'm shifting from jg/top to mid/jg.

Oh but you're not a suberb ADC and therefore are an average ADC which among suberb ADC mains would mean you are a subpar ADC in comparison--which is exactly why I say I can't play the role because I can't play it on the same level and therefore have no right to say I can play it because then your team is expecting you to be able to play it to that level.

And no, I can't play ADC or support. It wouldn't be fair to my team if I did as I'm just that bad at both. Sure I can "function" as one--ain't too hard to pick a champ and press buttons to play the game. But I definitely can't say I can play the role.

So in your words--no, can't play the role at what my allies would consider a reasonably competent level because competence is assuming that I'm good enough at the role to contribute at least an even chance of victory. Hell no though, ADC mains would destroy me because they know every intricacy of each matchup as an ADC.

I know my matchups as a top laner but I had to learn them one by one through multiple games and even then the game continues to evolve and that knowledge becomes partially moot. Expecting someone to know every matchup in every lane is far too farfetched and though you claim that's not what you're saying that essentially is what you're saying. Because to be competent in the role you have to know your strengths and weaknesses and your enemies' strengths and weaknesses. But with ADC/Support you also have to know the other roles strengths and weaknesses AND how you synergize with your ally and they synergize with theirs.

There is no paper answer to it because even the "footsies" of cs and trading behavior makes a huge difference.

All in all I will never claim to be competent in all that role knowledge because it's unreasonable that anyone should--especially not your average player. Hell, even professionals are the same. Watch any pro stream on a role they don't play all you hear is "I don't even know what this does/How does this matchup go?".

And for someone so sensitive to insults (boi?) you sure like to toss them out at others.

MonkeyMadness1 votes

Boi is an insult?

Learn to read. I'm insulting you for using such childish language. I am not insulted, though I am insulted that you would try to spin my words against me in such epic and ridiculously transparent fashion.

Never said I am Diamond. Said I was.

You committed a lie of omission, and you know it. You are plat. Stop saying that you are/were/could have been/should have been diamond. You are plat.

Oh but you're not a suberb ADC and therefore are an average ADC which among suberb ADC mains would mean you are a subpar ADC in comparison

This is like saying "compared to the best player in the world, everyone else is shit". This logic is purest cancer, stop spreading it. I am a low plat player and I can play (some) adc champs at a high gold/low plat level. But I can compete in mid and maybe high plat as a jungler, so I stick with that. And having a main role is not the issue I'm fighting here. The problem is that the majority of this community (due to role selection) is completely incapable of playing outside their "comfort zone". This defeats the purpose of the game. Like you said, the game is

constantly evolving

And if you only play a couple champs, a single buff/nerf/tweak could completely destroy your ability to play the game, which is probably why this season has seen a MASSIVE increase in the number of "fuck you rito for nerfing this that and the other thing" posts on these forums. Learn to play the GAME, not just your handful of champs.

OyddAWqJ5r1 votes

You committed a lie of omission, and you know it. You are plat. Stop saying that you are/were/could have been/should have been diamond. You are plat.

Wasn't a lie. I didn't say I was Diamond in that specific way. I literally said:

But I've always been like that even since the S1 days--didn't stop me from making Diamond then.

Note how I said then? I think you just committed a derp is all that happened. I stated a fact. You can't tell me I can't state facts. Hell, you can't tell me I can't do anything and have it hold any real meaning to me for that matter.

And if you only play a couple champs, a single buff/nerf/tweak could completely destroy your ability to play the game

Nope! Because by only playing a few champs you know exactly how each change to your matchups and yourself and items you buy or your opponents buy will affect your lane. It literally gives you less to think less.

Learning how to play everything isn't learning how to play the game. If you have absolute mastery over your 1-trick pony then 1-trick away, there's literally no need to learn anything else.

Hell, the best advice I can give newer players is learn how to play a handful of champs and stay true to them only.

Also note that true mains stick to their mains until their mains are literally not viable because true mains know the intricacies of their champs so well that most of the time they can manage through even counterpicks and nerfs. Most likely because the people counterpicking are probably people like you that think that you can play anything to an average level and do well. Pfft, any one-trick pony will have a field day with you if you try that on them.

And yes, if you are average and are facing people on their mains you are by definition sub-par.

Let's examine the definition of sub-par:

"Not measuring up to traditional standards of performance, value, or production"

Now when the standard in that game is above average and you aren't above average too what does that make you? Say it with me now:

#Below Average This make sense now or should I draw a picture too?

This logic is purest cancer, stop spreading it.

This logic is logical. Educating the illogical is logically the job of people who can grasp logic.

MonkeyMadness1 votes

That is the definition of a lie of omission...

Because by only playing a few champs you know exactly how each change to your matchups and yourself and items you buy or your opponents buy will affect your lane. It literally gives you less to think less.

What planet do you live on? Imagine how hard azir mains had it when they removed the knock up on his e. That's not something you just "get over".

Hell, the best advice I can give newer players is learn how to play a handful of champs and stay true to them only.

Any new players reading this, disregard this statement right now. If you do this, you will have a horrible time in ranked. If you don't have a functional understanding of every role and every champ, you are doing yourself and your team a disservice.

And yes, if you are average and are facing people on their mains you are by definition sub-par.

You realize that "par" mean average right? So if I'm an average adc for my skill level, I am by definition NOT sub-par, I am AT par. Learn basic English before you try to catch me with technicalities please.

OyddAWqJ5r1 votes

The definition of a lie of omission is omitting pertinent facts in order to cause a misinterpretation. I didn't do that. I told you "from making Diamond then". It's not my fault you can't read.

Azir got literally deleted by Riot. That one doesn't count.

You realize that "par" mean average right? So if I'm an average adc for my skill level, I am by definition NOT sub-par, I am AT par. Learn basic English before you try to catch me with technicalities please.

Good! You know the definition! Okay now say it with me. You are average. Players you face are above average on their mains. So if the average of the other players is above average then that means that above average is the average. So what does that make you? Use your brain now <3

#Below Average

MonkeyMadness1 votes

The definition of a lie of omission is omitting pertinent facts in order to cause a misinterpretation

WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID. You deliberately failed to mention the fact that you are plat in order to lead people to believe that you are diamond. The only reason that I know better is because I decided to look you up. There is no way around this, you omitted a pertinent fact in order to cause a misinterpretation (of your skill, in this particular case).

Azir got literally deleted by Riot. That one doesn't count.

So I cite a valid counterargument and you simply invalidate it because you don't like it. K. Debate team champion over here...

You are average.

Hilarious, as plat is categorically FAR above average. Again, you fail to grasp basic dictionary definitions. Also, you fail to understand this very basic premise: anyone playing at an "above average level" FOR THEIR RANK will automatically climb the ladder. Anyone playing at a "below average level" FOR THEIR RANK will automatically decline. I have maintained plat 4/5 for nearly the entire summer. Ergo, I am clearly not "below average" for my rank. Please start using logic in your discussions with me, as you ranting is not welcome here.

OyddAWqJ5r1 votes

WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID. You deliberately failed to mention the fact that you are plat in order to lead people to believe that you are diamond.

...Are you being serious? Uh... That's not how it works buddy. You said you are Plat 4/5 and "deliberately failed to mention the fact" that you were Gold in season 4 in order to lead people to believe that you have always been Plat. You committed a lie of omission. There is no way around this, you omitted a pertinent fact in order to cause a misinterpretation (of your skill consistency, in this particular case).

See how dumb that sounds? That's literally you.

So I cite a valid counterargument and you simply invalidate it because you don't like it. K. Debate team champion over here...

Not a valid counterargument because it doesn't pertain to anything discussed. I spoke of maining champions despite nerfs. Azir wasn't a nerf--it was a gutting. Just like Sejauni. But you seem to think you win cuz you have 1 counterexample? I have 121 counterexamples then. Every other champion has mains that stick with it and perform significantly better than those who try to play everything.

Hilarious, as plat is categorically FAR above average. Again, you fail to grasp basic dictionary definitions.

Sigh, we aren't talking about how you compare to league as a whole though. Once again you fail to grasp basic logic and the ability to mentally keep up with what your eyes are reading. Keep up this time I've said it twice already I'm gonna say it one last time okay? I'll make it easier for you this time using basic numbers and symbols instead of hard to understand words.

Everyone in example = Plat players

Player = 5 skill level on nonmain champion Player = 10 skill level on main champion

Ally team: 4 players play their mains and one plays a nonmain. 4(10) + 1(5) = 45

Enemy team: 5 players play their mains. 5(10) = 50

50 > 45. Enemy team has better chance of victory! :O scary!

But wait, you said you were average right? Oh but not if you play on a nonmain silly.

Now you = 5. Main = 10. 10 > 5. This means you are, say it with me now:

#Below Average in this particular game in which you are gimping yourself and your team by playing a role/champion you don't main

Wait just in case you didn't get it!

|Main| > |Nonmain| | 10 | > | 5 |

You sincerely deserve a full and permanent ban from these forums for you overt harassment and the spam you have posted to literally every one of my comments for the past week even though you were in no way involved with the conversations. Understand that the level of harassment you are displaying here may even be criminal.

Now, onto why you are yet again wrong:

I have maintained plat 4/5 for nearly the entire summer.

That was my statement regarding me being in plat 4/5. I gave a very specific time frame, so even if you were somehow right with your statement, you are still technically wrong, not to mention slanderous. You, however said this:

I still made Diamond right?

No, no you did not. You made plat 3. You allowed people reading your post to think that you were diamond. I myself believed that you were diamond, until I decided to look you up. No one would have ever thought anything about my rank, because I was rather specific with when I got plat and how long I had maintained it. Also, me being gold in season 4 has nothing to do with my current rank. You, however, claimed diamond ranking, but failed to specify that you lost it. See the difference (I doubt you do, but there's a big one).

it was a gutting. Just like Sejauni.

Remind me, when was sejuani gutted? Careful with your response, and just to be sure you don't trip over yourself, I urge you to check my Sejuani stats. Also, not that it matters, but that win rate was at 60% for a very long time. End of season ranked play is a real bitch...Actually, given the fact that you clearly don't see anything wrong with you claiming to be diamond, yes, my sej win rate is 60%. Clearly not gutted, qed, I win this argument by your own logic, however faulty it may be.

Also, it matters not if what happened to azir was a "nerf" or a "gutting", if it happens to your only champ, you are fucked, and according to you, Riot does this a lot, which should further encourage players to NOT stick to one champ.

Once again you fail to grasp basic logic

Says the plat player who claims to be diamond. See how that kinda makes any statement you make regarding other people's logic entirely hypocritical?

Also, if you read my statement, you would know that I can manage ADC at a ~low plat level, but my jungle game is closer to ~high plat, hence, I sit in low/mid plat (plat 5/4). Tis you who fails to grasp basic logic.

As an outsider, just reading this argument, although i am by no means a high rank at all, what sleeper is saying makes more sense, and you (monkey) appears to not be fully listening to what sleeper is saying, whereas in comparison, he is listening to you , and providing a logical counter-argument. I actually do play support so it's not that big of a deal to get filled there. My problem is that if remakes don't give ip, LP, or champion mastery because it doesn't count as a game why does it count as a game when it comes to Auto fill protection?

slowkillin2 votes

so true

Oelyk2 votes

I think the point is that they want a chance to play roles they enjoy, and not just toss away a chance to play them because someone dcs. I have nothing against support, I would just rather play mid or top, and remaking from mid top into a support again(hypothetical example) would kinda bum me out.

shalexade3 votes

On the flip side, if you've been autofilled into support and get a remake, you shouldn't get protected for the next game.

JQKAndrei2 votes

So by the same logic you shouldn't even get autofill protection if the game you had to support ends in a remake?

Joseraph4 votes

YES! Because then you didn't have to support! You didn't play the game! Think before you type, damn

JQKAndrei1 votes

Then why should riot implement a feature that does absolutely nothing.

In my eyes adding those two things would be like turning 1 = 1 in -1 = -1

Joseraph2 votes

I fail to see what point you're trying to make. What I'm saying is /remake shouldn't take autofill protection, and /remaking an autofill shouldn't give autofill protection.

JQKAndrei1 votes

Alright, so basically:

  • /remake while not supporting shouldn't consume autofill protection >>> Decreases the number of autofilled games.

  • /remake while supporting doesn't give autofill protection >>> Increases the number of autofilled games.

So what's the difference if we just let it as it is?

Joseraph1 votes

Because then people won't feel cheated out of autofill protection games, and don't cheat to get autofill protection.

My Waifu Vanilla2 votes

You shouldn't get your roles changed at all if someone dodges to be perfectly honest. I shouldn't have to swap my summoner spells and runes/masteries again if someone dodges and i get swapped from top to jungle or something (and thus even have the possibility of forgetting to switch ss).

Rivuo1 votes

You think Riot doesnt know that? lmao

MonkeyMadness1 votes

Consider, thought, that if you are the reason for the remake, you will have a dodge penalty, meaning that a new person will have to fill your spot. If you give autofill protection to the remaining 9 players, you will be systematically punishing that 10th player.

EndlessSorcerer8 votes

What?

They are saying that if the player already has autofill protection, it shouldn't be consumed when the game is remade.

MonkeyMadness3 votes

Oh. Wait, is autofill protection really being consumed from remakes???

Edit: nvm I figured it out. I thought you guys were talking about remaking the game after a queue dodge, not the /remake command due to an afk.

IziMytTJd71 votes

Because eventually everyone in queue will end up having autofill protection. Then everyone's screwed.

viken1 votes

I mean if you remake an autofill game, you're still protected the next game, so I think it's only fair that a remake game uses it up also.

devdev4631 votes

On the flip side, when you remake a game which you got autofilled you get auto fill protection from that game. Feelsgoodman.

HEXXEN9x1 votes

honestly Remakes shouldnt be allow for just players that don't connect because sometimes you get into a game with trollers and your just begging god they don't int and cost you lp i get so many players that just want to troll and feed and you can't remake and you just tilt and its such a bad game decision not to have counter measures for that
