...a flaming Jax and a completely new player whose currently 2-5 W-L in their promos? In a Silver/Gold hybrid match? Really?

Are you sure at this point people aren't quitting because of the incompetent matchmaking, and that's why your matchmaking is becoming more visibly garbage? It's an infinite cycle that there's one way to break: make the matchmaking actually, like, good and functional.

Please duly note that this is a solo/duo ranked match.

I've been repeatedly writing on boards that matchmaking is bad and it is mostly inclined towards giving games faster and very less towards giving fairer games; unless there is a better matchmaking system to give fairer games -dodging such games is the only solution. Problem is with invisible mmr, we can't even check for fairness and just believe that the ratings are somewhat nearby and if not dodged, hope that these unranked players are smurfs.

the matchmaking in solo1 and normal games is bad, a huge portion of league players dont play ranked, they play for fun, and the matching in norms is just as bad, i literally played a game5 golds vs challengers and masters was fair

My recent normals have straight up been stomp fests where either my team feeds their asses off and the enemy team gets incredibly fed, or the enemy team ints and we manage to stomp them and end in less than 30 minutes.

It never seems like both teams are on at least a similar skill level, and I've been getting everything from silvers to masters and grandmasters in my matches (and it's not fun getting your shit slapped by a grandmaster player when you're only low plat)

Do you have any proof for that because all I see is usually people being like "No, the matchmaking is fair," with them investing a lot of time into the game hence only getting a better result because they have a bigger game time pool to pull stats from. It should be fair matchmaking though no matter if you invest the minimum amount of time or basically your entire freetime.

...are you serious? Is how ANY system of this kind works, ofc it needs a certain amount of game played to become really accurate, ofc you can't expect to be placed EXACTLY where you belong right after the placements, that would be just impossible. But it's not like "OMG YOU NEED TO PLAY AT LEAST 2 HOURS AT DAY TO BE PLACED RIGHT!111" at all, you can play just a bunch of games per week and still ending up where you belong, just a little later (I'd say 2/3 months to get there playing ONE game per day). And that SURELY doesn't apply for our OP, that played SEVEN HUNDREDS ranked only this season and is EXACTLY where he belongs atm.

It's already like that, if you play a lot you will just reach an accurate value sooner. ...unless your idea of "minimum time" is "once a month", ofc. And, again, let me reiterate: there is NO system in the WHOLE UNIVERSE that can tell you your rank after 3 games, that's just TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE due to the nature of the game. If you are asking for a system able to place you PRECISELY where you belong after your placement you are not asking for a "fair" one, but for a MAGICAL one.

Btw: if you are playing VERY little LoL ranked is not for you anyway. Ranked games imply a little bit of "commitment" to them: you can play only 1 game every 2 weeks but, unless you are some kind of anime genius, you will never achieve much (and even if you do cause you are The One you will STILL get much worse results than you would with a little bit of consistency). And that's has nothing to do with "the MM" but ONLY with the fact that playing so few games won't allow you to gain the experience, knowledge etc needed to succeed.

Unfortunately, the game isn't as popular as it used to be. They have to work around a smaller playerbase these days, so we get faster games at the cost of crappier matching. Though hard to believe, this game is nearly an entire decade old.

Wait...Level 17? Isn't being Level 30 one of the requirements for playing Ranked on Summoner's Rift?

Anyways, Matchmaking could be ALOT better. My working theory on why it's crap now is because of Positional Matchmaking. Positional Matchmaking was one of the biggest mistakes ever made & even though it was reverted, it's still caused alot of damage to the game. An MMR Reset might fix things, but who's to say?

I feel like first time ranked MMR for a new person's placements should be based off their norms/bot games MMR. This solves two problems;

New players aren't playing in gold games (Let's face it, not a lot of prodigies out there)
Less incentive for smurfs to buy bot-leveled accounts

i used to have some fun and some impact on the game untill s9 . even s8 was a bit better . i still could feel a little bit competition in games.

but now i dont feel any competition in my games. my performance is not effecting game at all because trolls are so much.

in before it was like one troll in every 3 or 4 game but now its 2-3 in every game. it doesnt matter that i win or lose . in either win or loss my performance just doesnt matter . in one game i have AFK/DC/Troll in my team and i lose next game they have and they lose. gold players are in plat. plat players are in diamond . diamond players are in gold. silver players are in gold games. and etc ... . this is not player's fault . ofc there will be tons of trolls if there is no rules. trolls and griefers dont get punished. rich kids pay for boost and they troll 20 games and demote and they pay again to boost back. i was so hyped to get my own internet and play trihard and climb but now i just feel im wasting my time. every night when i check im back where i started last morning .

Or people that stalk your public information and troll games based on if you are in your promos or not. Partially the reason I didn't get gold in S3. Every single promo was at least 3 people compromising they game so I didn't ascend. after 10-15 times I just quit.
