Could Garen be a viable mid laner?

I was thinking, because of his early damage and his Q silencing that it could be possible.

Q damage means nothing if you can't land it.

That first Video was extremely entertaining still working on second video. Garen to me is definitely one of the most entertaining champions due to how funny he is. The bush master, spin to win, and often labeled KSer (kill secured :p).

Love that champ

Eh... not really. The constant poke really hits his passive and he is just too slow even with his Q to silence an enemy in time to not get blasted. Sorry. ALTHOUGH if the S5 Item Righteous Glory or whatever stays the way it is with a huge movement speed buff with a slow, yes, garen could go middle lane. Currently, most of the currently played Mages are too much for him though.

On the other hand, if there's an assassin at mid lane, then Garen just squashes them. All he has to do is build up some armor or MR depending on the type of assassin he goes up against and it's GG mid lane for the enemy team.

You have to be super agressive but it works wonders against ap casters like kassadin, veigar, and so on

Once he gets some MR, yes.

The biggest make or break for almost all mids is whether or not they can immediately be a threat to their opponent.

As an example, Yasuo and Zed are viable melee mids because of their extreme mobility. Zed has the ability to jump in AND out with proper shadow usage, and Yasuo's E is incredibly viable in midlane due to how short the lane is+minion placement (Not to mention his Wind Wall can cancel aggression, and his Ult is an instant blink).

Garen does not have this strength against ranged AP champs. Most ranged AP in midlane have some form of hard CC that would make it damn near impossible for Garen to get close, and even in the case he does, he'd be pelted by abilities as he simply tries to run up to his enemies.

Against MELEE ASSASSINS however, that's a different story. Garen's base stats tend to be outright superior to many melee Assassins, so Garen mid can work against other Melee Champs.

TL;DR: Counter other melee champs in mid lane with Garen mid, but I really don't recommend him against ranged mids unless you plan on cheesing and cheesing hard.

if u want to destroy a talon or fizz as counterpick, he works, but he will suffer vs any ranged midlaner, there is nothing he can do on a short lane with no close brushes vs ranged.

Honestly, yes. Depends though. I've been taking him mid and jungle. Against the common egotistical melee midlaners (yasuo, zed, etc) the lane is completely onesided, in your favor. Against squishy mages that don't have a huge powerspike til midgame, he completely wrecks them. Just gotta play super aggro levels 1-3, then play like a bitch til you get your Spirit visage. If you face a mage, just start with mr. Watch them struggle to do anything. You can't build damage against them until after you get tanky though, which kinda sucks
