AD itemization is still pretty overloaded.

It feels like every season riot is looking at the drawing board and saying to themselves "What kind of item changes can we make that'd be really good for AD champions".

Beyond the fact that everything is stupidly overloaded it doesn't help the fact that AD itemization is 100% interchangeable between champions besides crit, though I still see insanely fed Zeds and talons build IE because why the f*** not.

Oh boo hoo AP champions have hourglass. The passive stats are mind numbingly useless considering that AD champions have free access to top tier items with loads of lethality, and the active is only useful in niche situations when you're on equal footing with your opponent. Otherwise buying Hourglass as an 0/5 midlaner vs zed rarely saves you and typically just gives you the opportunity to delay your death every 120 seconds.

Meanwhile Hexdrinker grants 35 MR and a massive 200 HP magic shield (by the time most champions will early buy it) on a 90 second CD. Ol' seekers armguard gives you 45 armor (countered by easily accessible lethality from dirk and runes) and 35 AP, 15 of which needs to be stacked up by last hitting 30 creeps which is going to take several minutes.

So for a whole whopping 100 gold more Hexdrinker grants immediate stats and a shield that'll grant them enough effective HP to guarantee safety in a 1v1. In most cases AD champions will sit on this and rush Duskblade because this 1300 gold item is enough to insure that they can't lose in a 1v1 vs a magic dealing champion.

That's just an example as this is the case with most AD items. They're overloaded with extremely good passives and actives, packed into a gold efficient bundle, loaded with good amounts of AD and plenty of CDR, and most importantly there is no real issues with build paths in AD itemization. The only cases present is BF sword and Black cleaver, and Black cleaver is STILL a top tier AD item on everything but Juggernauts because -20 AD and the build path doesn't even come close to defeating the amazing benefits of the item.

Well for melee champions perhaps: item 3053 item 3022 item 3071 item 3748

ADC's have: item 3026 item 3156

Mages have: item 3030 item 3152 item 3157 item 3102 item 3116 item 3027 item 3174 (although I don't imagine mages building the last item, but still has AP and resistances)

You mean EVERY AD champion has item 3147 item 3156 item 3071 item 3814 item 3748 item 3053 item 3142 item 3026 item 3036 ?

All of these items are interchangeable and used on any AD champion. 90% of carry AD's including assassins buy GA by late game. Same thing if they're VS AP champions because it's a brain dead cheese vs magic damage.

Lets not forget lethality items like duskblade that once again gets picked up by just about every AD champion because it's brain dead power.

Lucian mid is a thing for these reasons. An ADC mid that beats Mages and Assassins.

You say "EVERY AD" but since when can an ADC buy item 3748 item 3053? Those are melee only items, but I get the point regardless.

Steraks JUST became a melee only item, up until that point it wasn't the most popular but would still end up on peoples builds fairly often on certain champions.

But when I refer to AD's I mean every AD champion but ADC's. Though even the ADC's abuse lethality and Black Cleaver in favor of crit builds a decent amount because the items are just that damn good.

And referring to your earlier comment yes AP champion have items with their own unique purposes, but if you were to compare them then you'd see that the AD items advantages are on a different scale.

GLP is a very niche item that works on very few champions, mainly champions that need its kiting potential like TF and Aurelion.

Protobelt is primarily used on short range champions for its mobility purposes.

I covered my thoughts on hourglass in the OP which I strongly believe in.

Scepter and RoA are both Niche.

The issue that plagues AD itemization is the raw versatility. There are no draw backs. Solid gold efficiency, great build paths, and everything works on everyone. There's no drawback to assassins or even lucian building BC because the stats and benefits are universally strong in any situation despite the item being designed for top lane Juggernauts and nerfed to discourage other champions building it.

Rito will probably look at ap items in season 8, maybe high iq AP items will get justice [sg-ezreal]
