Would Leoric's trait from HotS be a usable gameplay element in League?
Leoric's trait, Undying, causes him to haunt the battlefield as a ghost after dying. He can't do any damage while in ghost form, but he can slow enemies and reduce his own death timer. Upon finishing his death timer, he respawns at the position of his ghost.
This means that even if you take Leoric out, he's not completely out of play, and that you need to watch him if he's close to respawning. It also means that he doesn't have to deal with walking back out into the action from his team's fountain.
This, IMO, would be truly unique to have on a future Shadow Isles Champion. To adjust it for League, I'd have the following changes made:
- You can't purchase items from your shop unless you return to your fountain (Recall is not disabled).
- Your movement speed is fixed to a set amount, and your vision radius is reduced. You cannot detect camouflaged opponents while in ghost form.
- You have one ability that lets you inflict a minor slow to nearby enemies. This can be used multiple times (on a static cooldown) before respawning.
- You cannot use items, Summoner Spells (except Recall), or attack while in ghost form.
- You are completely invulnerable and untargetable while in ghost form, and cannot be CC'd.
What would the uses be? Well, while you're a ghost, you can scout enemy positions and jungle camps without fear of reprisal, though you can't see as far as the enemy can, so they can skirt around you. You could also use the ability to position yourself before a fight breaks out. It also means you aren't going to be forced to walk all the way back to lane from your fountain. However, taking advantage of all that positioning power means you can't go and buy items unless you recall your ghost to base. Going back for items will mean you give up your positioning power, as you'll probably respawn before you return to your lane if you recalled.
Anyone else think Leoric's Undying trait would be a good fit?
