I've forgotten what mages besides Lux look like..

...because every goddamn game, the enemy chooses an assassin. Do mages even exist anymore? The last 7-10 games in a row have had mid-lane and even top-lane assassins or lux, who is essentially an assassin with her burst. It's gotten ridiculous; mages aren't ever picked anymore and it makes any mage that you picked completely useless.

I opened this post hoping to see another (valid) argument on how every mage is essentially a cookie-cutter version of Lux.

Am disappoint; downvoted.

I disagree with this anyway.

Show me an AP Burst Mage that isn't some variety of (for example) Lux. I dare you.

Syndra: Soft/Hard AoE CC, Burst Ult Taliyah: Battle mage, not applicable Ryze: Battle mage, not applicable Ahri: Burst, CC(charm), Burst LeBlanc: AoE burst, CC, Burst Veigar: Burst, Burst, AoE CC, Burst Viktor: Battle mage, not applicable Anivia: Battle mage, not applicable Lissandra: Burst, Hard/Soft AoE CC, Burst

They all perform the same, like Lux. Hard/Soft AoE CC abilities, and usually a burst ult.

The only difference with LB and Ahri, is that those two have more mobility than others, and lean toward assassin more than mage (and are generally considered/played as an assassin).

Oh, u mean in that way...... Thought u were arguing that they were similar to lux.

I meant that Lux and all of them are all a cookie-cutter extension of the same type of mage.

There's very little differentiation between them; and the only real question to ask yourself when choosing which to play is, "which one is the strongest/most op af burst mage in the meta right now?"

Which is why a lot of people are upset about changes to champs like Heimerdinger and Malzahar -- two obviously very unique "pet mages" that break the "run of the mill mage" mold, but have recently been nerfed/reworked/changed to fit that mold more and more over time.

What do u mean cookie-cutter? of course they're gonna have similar functions, pretty much every mage is designed to deal alot of damage and good waveclear. How they function is extremely different tho. You can't play lux and then decide to just pick up Syndra, their playstyles are vastly different. There's alot of differentiation between the mages. Lissandra is played very differently from syndra, Ahri and the others, whilst Ahri is played differently too. Just becasue champions fulfill a certain roll doesnt make them "cookie-cutters"

Oh well look at that, the top three mid lane play rates belong to mages.

Shit thread, feel bad.

Downvoted this post even though it's true little guy?

Keep feeling bad about yourself.

I think you meant to say:

...because every goddamn game, the enemy chooses an assassin Ahri, Orianna, or Annie. Do mages any other mid laners even exist anymore?

Fixed it for you.
