you gave cho infinity scaling and HP ratio on ult while making an item that double hp FYI TRUE DAMAGE ISNT REDUCED BY THE DAMAGE PENALITY OF STONEPLATE so we have someone with 9k hp that can oneshot you

remove immediatly the hp ratio of cho ult, like RIGHT NOW, we don't need to wait 7.10

Or make it so true damage is reduced by self imposed effects.

KONO RUBICK DA2 votes

if it doesn't bring spagheti coding sure

Ralanr2 votes

Yeah, personally I feel that would lead to less abuse than targeting one champion at a time.

LostFr0st3 votes

Or they could try going the Sterak's route where it auto-pops if you take x damage during x timespan. Right now they just don't activate it unless they're really in trouble, since the reduced damage is an active.

Cause what tanks need, is for their damage to be reduced at the wrong time.

  1. I'm fairly certain that active was suppose to be an "Oh Sht" button, or at the very least, give the player the most control. and 2) If they made it that unreliable, they would have AXed the damage nerf, but then we would just have another Sterak's. (I'm certain Riot didn't want to make another Sterak's)
LostFr0st2 votes

Well another solution needs to be thought out for the abusers then. They're going to be a problem. I guess they could give it an HP or resist threshold for the active but that might just be weird and Cho etc. would still abuse it.

Maybe it pops when 3 spells are on CD? That's got its own problems too though.

Maybe the bonus ends if 3+ units are not nearby? Then opponents would just disengage though... however the "true damage killers" would get less once they deal the killing blow to someone...

Gonna keep thinking up dumb stuff and cross my fingers hoping it gives someone an idea.

Ralanr2 votes

I don't see why reducing true damage from self imposed reduction is a bad thing.

LostFr0st3 votes

I don't either, it would solve the problem too. Who cares if it goes against the "true damage" definition. They bought the item themselves.

They just need to properly communicate it the same way as the pure damage of the fountain is for damage defying ults. People will accept it if the messaging is right.

Agreed

ZT Xperimentor19 votes

Oh no, a massive immobile champion does significant damage at point blank range.

Glory ln Death8 votes

Oh no, he can also only achieve that damage in ridiculously late games where he is fed out the wazoo and only for 4 seconds at a time every 2 minutes. And it's only that excessively strong when there are 3+ enemies nearby. Whatever shall we do? It's not like we can't end the game before he can get stacks or shut him down so he can't get anything but his 5 minion/monster stacks. It's not like he has extremely telegraphed spells and high mana costs early that we can take advantage of.

Game's ruined - Cho'Gath too OP. GGWP. Back to Pokemon.

Im A Jayce God1 votes

I mean, if he lands 1 q hes going to be fuck you over with his 1.5k true damage ult

ZT Xperimentor1 votes

A very delayed and small skillshot (in comparison), that costs a noticeable chunk of his mana (1/3~1/4 depending on items). I've seen people walk out of it without shoes, and cross it before it goes off with shoes; discounting mobility abilities.

what i meant you idiot , is that he is so strong it doesn't matters after an amount of ap

It looks very balanced. Mortal Reminder and anti tank characters. I cant tell you how many people dont build armor pen or magic pen against tanks. I dont see a problem with this picture. Cho hasn't been meta for a long time. And why is it just this cut-out picture? where is everything else? how ebhind were you? what was everyone build? who was playing?

Lol No.

Glory ln Death5 votes

Even with Stoneplate doubling his health, Cho would need over 50 stacks to get that kind of damage. The image is very misleading, and was likely part of a "how ridiculous can we get this" experiment game.

Glory ln Death5 votes

For Cho to get to the point where his ult does 2.4k damage, as shown in your image, has has to have over 50 stacks of his ultimate and use Stoneplate. That's not going to happen in a normal game.

KONO RUBICK DA1 votes

except it was 28 min in the game, you can check it yourself

it was a video of bunnyfufu playing cho on pbe

Glory ln Death7 votes

This image you posted with 2.4k damage is not from 28 minutes into that game (which you haven't even linked in your post). There is no time, no max health, and no stacks shown in your image. I've seen the image for the game you're referring to at 28 minutes - Cho had 4.8k health without Stoneplate, had 15 stacks, 10 kills, and his ult did about 1.5k damage during Stoneplate's active (he got about 140 additional damage from AP).

Now, remember, this is 28 minutes in with 15 stacks and 10 kills. He would have gotten his ult around 6 or 7 minutes in, which means he has successfully ulted 15 times in 21 or 22 minutes. He was using his ult basically on cooldown and somehow got a kill with it each time (10 player kills + 5 minion/monster). That means that in the early game, before he could purchase Stoneplate and where he would not have gotten the full effect (it requires 3 nearby enemies to get the full power), he was destroying his opponents, anyways.

The game was pretty obviously skewed in his favor and not a very good sample for Cho's power. This was one game where Cho was dominating anyways and was able to get a massive lead even before his Stoneplate power spike. Most games, Cho will not be able to get that fed that quickly, and most games will end before he can get there naturally.

Niyumi5 votes

Uh, I've seen a Cho with nearly 5k health at 25 minutes or so. He had 11 stacks.

Glory ln Death3 votes

Yes, likely because that Cho was heavily itemizing towards health. The Cho in the game OP is referring to had a Gargoyle Stoneplate (0 health in stats), Mejai's (0 health), and Protobelt (300 health). He may have had one other item which could have been a high health item, but I don't remember. Since he was rank 3 ult, his 15 stacks gave 2400 bonus health. I don't remember his exact level, but it had to be 16-18 for the ult, putting him between 1750-1924 base health. Stacks bring that up to 4150-4300, and Protobelt gives you 4450-4600. So, probably one other component or nearly completed health item.

TheLastShadow453 votes

It's okay, the op doesn't seem to know how to read time.

Here is the video for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbACFFjTZWI&t=454s

This kill he posted was at 7:30 seconds of the video. Which in game for bunny was 48 minutes and not 28 like the op said. This game also went on for over 1hr.

Much appreciated!

Just pick LeeSin and kick Cho into the enemy team for a quadrakill

ModAcademy Kayn3 votes

Make the item slow the user. Considering how a major part of the rework wasn't to lower damage by tanks, but to simply make it harder to, a self-imposed slow would emphasize the weaknesses some champions should have (ala Darius) which is kiting.

Qiyeanu Reeves2 votes

I know this is kind of missing your point, but I probably wouldn't build this item on Darius, as he is a bruiser, not a tank. He shouldn't be building an item that increases HP and lowers damage by 60%. Like, that just isn't a tradeoff a Darius player wants to make.

ModAcademy Kayn3 votes

Well I mean it's a trade off. It makes ya hard to kill, so you can get them stacks off on peeps, but then you rely solely on your ult.

Qiyeanu Reeves1 votes

Idk, I just feel like if your team needs that kind of tank, picking Darius was a mistake because he doesn't excel as a huge big HP/tank blob since his CC isn't comparable to other full tanks, and he makes up for it with damage, which he'd lose with this item.

SzGamer2271 votes

If you've nearly got full stacks and are low on health and just need to avoid being popped, you can proc Stoneplate to get that last stack and proc Noxian Might. 4 seconds later the effect wears off and you're dealing full damage again, and if you landed a 3-man Q you've also gotten 45% of your missing health back if you're wearing Spirit Visage.

Qiyeanu Reeves1 votes

I guess? In my experience recently teamfights are not that long. Do you really have time to sit there for 4 seconds after however much time it took for you to get that low in the first place?

Wouldn't just building a thornmail/that new helm(mr item)/or GA be better?

LostFr0st1 votes

It only reduces your damage if you activate it. You get most of the benefits without even pressing the button. Just treat it like an "o sht" button.

Qiyeanu Reeves1 votes

But if you buy an item with an active, that active is factored into the gold cost of the item, or the item loses stats in order to have that active. Would it not be gold inefficient, and situational at best, to choose this item over other items that give him durability?

edit: not to mention that he builds several items to mitigate his lack of mobility, lol. this just doesn't seem worth it.

LostFr0st1 votes

Considering item 3105 is 1100 and grants 30 Armor and Mr (103.64% gold efficient), while this item is 2500 granting 40 Armor and Mr doubling to 80 with the passive it's roughly 117% gold efficient with the passive alone, not counting the active at all.

That does even out considering it has crappy efficiency while the passive isn't applied (59%).

I'm not saying the item needs nerfs, just saying the abusers don't need to activate it for efficiency if they don't want to. Most of them deal true damage anyways, so activating it gives them the benefits without complete damage loss.

Qiyeanu Reeves1 votes

Actually without the passive/active on Stoneplate, it's 60% gold efficient? The MR is worth 720 gold and the armor is worth 800, making the base stats net to 1520 gold. Take off the passive/actives Darius doesn't synergize with and you've wasted around 1k gold.

Like, you don't nec. turtle your team w/ him. I guess it's okay at best if you really do want to sit with your team but a lot of darius players split push or provide pressure in the top lane late game, and losing all those numbers if you're dueling the enemy top laner or somebody contesting you late doesn't seem great. Or if your teammates die you lose a bunch of stats. Completely unreliable.

LostFr0st1 votes

Yeah, 59%. That's in my comment above.

Even if he's splitpushing, at some point they are going to send 3+ at him; that's how people are.

I'm saying if he finds he needs it/wants it he legit trades nothing for it. Unlike other tanky champs.

Qiyeanu Reeves1 votes

What you lose is a more efficient build. The item is going to be 60% efficient on him way more often than it'll be 117%. Like the updated GA/new helm item seem just better bets, or just going with what a lot of people do and slap on a thornmail. Doesn't really seem that valuable of an item.

YoungSirJ0ey2 votes

Darius is a juggernaut, and he has true damage, so it could work on him.

Qiyeanu Reeves1 votes

A lot of things can work, but in terms of being the most efficient build, I don't see it.

LostFr0st2 votes

Self-imposed slow would feel awful. Darius wouldn't even be affected that much due to his passive and Phage's passive. The ones who's feel that the most would be the true tanks, who already get kited.

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

Most people who are actual tanks normally have gap closers anyways. And IMO, would fill very god-zilla like, a slow imposing wall of meat that can't be stop sans means of Nuclear Warfare.

Riot doesn't put stuff on the PBE for balance feedback. They do it for bug testing and mainly skin feedback.

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

Yep, mainly to catch game breaking bugs.

Skins Project2 votes

Primary yes...

But for the duration of PBE they can figure out balance.

The HP scaling on Cho's ultimate has been really helpful. Just make it so stoneplate doesn't affect damage output.
