Solo Queue Pregame Protip: Choose your secondary based on your primary

Are you a supp or adc main? Learn the other one for your secondary. Mid or top main? Learn to jg for your secondary. Jg main? Learn mid, specifically champs who can roam well.

Here's why: Any time you get your secondary, the person who got your primary likely put that role as their primary.

  • If you queue supp/adc and you get adc, you know your support probably mains the role; you're gonna have a good lane.

  • If you queue top/jg and you get jg, camp top. You know they're probably a top lane main, and -- as importantly -- you know how top lane is played.

  • If you queue jg/mid and get mid, your jg probably knows what they're doing. Pick a roaming champ and join them for ganks to amplify their effectiveness.

Certainly, mains have bad days like anyone else. But overall, you're making it so the summoners you'll be seeing the most in game have a higher chance to know what they're doing.

I play all roles, but 97% of the community would rather slash their own throats wide open than be support for so much as a microsecond.

This is really good advice for two reasons:

Beyond the knowledge of skill that it gives you (based on what OP said), it gives you experience with the role that has the most to do with your lane. If you main ADC, it's often helpful to play as a support, because it teaches you what the support can do, and what he/she needs, and visa versa. If you main mid/top, playing jg will tell you when they can gank, and what they need you to do. And Jg mains get the experience of playing in a lane, so they can better see when the laner needs help.

Interesting, I normally main MID with FEED as a secondary. I let my teammates know my roles by saying MID or FEED in chat. I'll take this advice and start practicing my secondary role more often.
