Wit"s End on Cho Gath: A technical question

As anyone who plays Cho enough knows, the vorpal spikes (I would assume from being coded as some sort of 'on attack' spell) hit a fraction of a second after the actual physical damage from the his attack. So, would the magic resistance reduction on-hit effect of Wits End apply prior to the damage being applied, therefore amplifying the magic damage's effect?

Me neither, just happened to ponder it now after a few years of playing Cho. Ask your friends, eh? I'd test it myself, but such a test would be pretty nigh impossible as far as I can see it, unless maybe with a friend's assistance and more patience than I have.

I think Wit's End makes a debuff marker on the champions it affects as well as a buff on the owner. That is probably how you would have to test it.

Probably.

Never really thought about the missile speed of his spikes before, but if they're fired off as a separate entity, it would apply the debuff prior to taking Vorpal damage, and as such you would get the Wit's End shred before spike damage.

it does apply the magicshred befor the spikes hit, so it does amplify even on the first hit.

My proposal:

Grab a friend, go into a custom and test it ;)

Yes, but I'd probably build Abyssal over Wit's End anyway (unless you build both?) because everything in your kit scales with it already. Same as I get Liandry's instead of RoA on Cho because his E applies Spell Effects and Doran's Ring x2 and your Passive suffice in terms of Mana sustain (you also get a stronger mid game and you get Mana from Frozen Heart anyway and that should be your second item along with Mercs/Tabi/Sorcs).

Theoretically Wit's End SHOULD go first before the spikes hit. However even if it did Abyssal Scepter or Spirit Visage would be the better choice anyways.

Cho'gath is a tank. While Wit's End would certainly provide some MR, it isn't nearly enough to really make it worth building on him.
