Hecarim needs some buffs or changes

I'm a trash Hecarim player. I have no idea how to win with him, it seems like whenever I dive in I'm doing no damage to the backline (triforce -> tank builds). They made it so Hecarim can no longer one shot the back line. Hecarim being weaker and the new support items make it so you do 0 damage to the back line.

I think they should buff his ult fear duration. I'll compare Hecarim to Malphite, Zac and Shyvana cause they all have abilities that get them into the middle of a fight.

Shyvana jumps in, does more damage than Hecarim and probably has the same MS has Hecarim throughout the fight. Hyper carry level damage due to all the magic and her build and all that.

Malphite jumps in, does less damage than Hecarim but has more CC and completely shuts down champions that rely on A/S. Makes the enemy marksmen useless. Does really well against AD because of his armor scaling. Also steals movement speed.

Zac jumps in, does maybe equal damage to Hecarim. Zac is able to displace the enemy team way more and heals more throughout the fight. Way more disruption than Hecarim.

Idk Hecarim needs some buffs or changes.

Edit: Also all the ambient slows hurt Hecarim.

I have mained primarily hecarim and vi since they came out. I can tell you that what is wrong with hecarim is his mana regen, the laning phases ending faster in the meta, every single new champion having a dash or escape mechanic, and the changes to the mastery trees having none that really help him be tanky with damage without building items like randuins. His fear on ult does not proc COTC or StoneBorn pact. His mana issues prevent him from being able to apply the pressure that other gankers are able to pull off early. Hecarim early ganks used to be supremely effective, not they are not. Some good ideas on YOLO pony to make him more competitive how he currently is are:

  • Take 18/12 thunderlords with runic affinity, dangerous game, meditation, and intelligence down cunning, then unyielding, runic armor, insight, and tough skin down resolve. None of the tank keystones really do well.
  • Run flat AD quints and marks, armor seals, and cdr glyphs (i run 5% at lvl 1 and the last 5% as scaling CDR)
  • Buy a trackers knife and then start building trinity force then. Start sheen first. The huge bonus for first turret made ending the laning phase early way more common at low ELO. This doesn't give hecarim time to gank lanes and build a lead after he hits lvl 6. I remember when first turrets fell and teamfights began i almost always had enough gold to be close to completing trinity with full boots and my jungle item fully built. This is NO LONGER THE CASE. Also if your team is really feeding and you look like your not going to be able to complete trinity before you have to make a decision to go tank or dps you can build iceborn gauntlet instead of trinity and then start getting tank items.

He is out of the meta because of his damage scaling, and how good he is as a mid and lategame hause. With games getting closed out faster he doesn't have time to get full build anymore. When games go 40+ minutes he is still a beast. That is why they can't buff him too much. You just have to play way smarter and make more complicated build decisions early with him now.

This season i hardly play him in ranked. I've moved on to play jungle Zac, Malphite, amumu, Lee Sin, olaf or Vi depending on the matchup. All of them are similar enough to hecarim in the jungle that you should be able to make the switch fairly easily.

Good luck YOLOPWNYERS

shyvana doesn't have the same CC he does and is a lot easier to kite, malphite has the one big knockup whereas Hecarim has a fear + displacement, and zac is just stupid as fuck and needs more nerfs

hecarim shouldn't be able to one-shot the back line, tbh, it's horrible to play against him when he's good because that's what happens when hec is meta, he runs into your team, CCs multiple people and then deletes a squishy of his choosing with minimal counterplay.

i'd like to see him get something similar to RekSai to give him more desire to build actual AD items and get to feel better with them. i remember ghostblade used to be big on him but why bother with that when triforce tank is all you really need?

Hecarim is simply out of meta because of who is popular right now. If the game had more assassins in the jungle, you'd see him more like before and then you'd see numerous complaints also like before.
