About Zilean, A support main perspective

First off, I love that they are tweeking the feel and scripting of his Q. IT was so clunky that this will make a huge difference if they do it correctly. It will likely help him in both mid and support lane. The passive however... It just seems really weak.

Here is his new proposed passive:

Time in a Bottle Zilean stores time as Experience at a rate of [2/3.5/5/6/12 at levels 1/6/11/16/18 based on level] per 5 seconds. When he has enough Experience to finish an ally's level, he can right-click them to impart it. Zilean receives as much Experience as he gives. Cannot be used in combat. Total awarded: X Experience "

Now, let's compare the fact that supports can already gain 20 exp per 10 seconds (given their needs to be a higher champion near which isn't hard as support).

20/10 versus 4/7/10/12/24 per 10

I actually really like Inspiration in support role because I roam a lot and this can really help you not fall behind in levels while you do so. However, the rate at which this exp is gained is very very minimal. Lets take a look at how long each level would take with the +20 per 10.

level 2 - 140 seconds level 3 - 190 seconds level 4 - 240 seconds level 5 - 290 seconds level 6 - 340 seconds level 7 - 390 seconds level 8 - 440 seconds level 10 - 490 seconds level 11 - 540 seconds level 12 - 590 seconds level 13 - 640 seconds level 14 - 690 seconds level 15 - 740 seconds level 16 - 790 seconds level 17 - 840 seconds level 18 - 890 seconds

Let's compare this to ZIlean's new proposed passive

level 2 - 700 seconds level 3 - 950 seconds level 4 - 1200 seconds level 5 - 1450 seconds level 6 - 1700 seconds level 7 - 1115 seconds level 8 - 1258 seconds level 9 - 1400 seconds level 10 - 1543 seconds level 11 - 1686 seconds level 12 - 1280 seconds level 13 - 1380 seconds level 14 - 1480 seconds level 15 - 1580 seconds level 16 - 1680 seconds level 17 - 1484 seconds level 18 - 1567 seconds

This is really really sad. Just wanted to point out this huge difference as I have a really hard time imagining this being useful in a support role. Perhaps that is the point and they really want him to be in mid only but really...even in mid I can't see much use.

Remember that the number you see is doubled, because Zilean and his ally get XP.

Also did you account for leveling up as the game progresses? And if so what times did you use for each level marker?

Just a hard numbers to level. I know a game isn't going to have people avoiding gaining exp but I can't really calculate that (my math skills are not strong enough). I did take into account the passive increasing as he leveled though. I just wanted to point out that a mastery gives more then his passive.

You gain less xp because duo laning you gain less then half

His passive generates the same amount of exp regardless of if you're in a solo lane or duo lane in this iteration.

Honestly they should just rework it Janna Style. Much bigger impact on shorter area.

I think they should just move away from a passive EXP gaining ability in general but his passive should have a larger impact either way.

Take him a solo Lane like I stated to people gain more xp and dump it on your jungler

Zilean's passive doesn't generate more exp if he is in a solo lane. In fact, this change makes it so that you can't snowball with Zilean, which is one of the rare benefits of his current passive. His current passive can snowball a lead by gaining multiple levels over the opponent but now....you can't because it is hard-lined into a flat rate and a very low flat rate at that.
