@Morello Quick Question on MF's Gameplay...

Rico Jungle Only··19 votes·25,850 views

In addition to MF's Visual Update, is there any chance her E can see a slight improvement in functionality? By that I mean a faster cast time on her E...or a better way of using her E to slow her enemies? It doesn't feel that great, enemies are rarely caught in it/stay in it for more than one tic, and I feel like it it doesn't reward MF for the amount of time it takes to cast the skill.

As always, I appreciate your time to answer this post. Thanks. :)

We'll be bundling a small gameplay update with MF's visual update. Details aren't entirely finalized yet, it'll likely include some changes to Make It Rain though.

Are you going to change her ultimate's wonky scaling? Having it deal both magic and physical damage isn't that fun to itemize for or against. As it stands she'll do more damage full AP with a last whisper. Thanks for your time if you do respond :)

Could you please also make it so her passive isn't shut off by that random minion shot? It's annoying trying to chase down someone only for that one minion to turn and poke you.

Thanks Meddler. Stay awesome! :D

Maybe make it apply on hit effects every second someone is in it. ;)

That'd be OP, see pre-season WW. How about just her Impure Shots stacks, like her ult does?

Since I noticed Miss Fortune is getting looked at, I thought I would finally mention a couple problems I am seeing with Miss Fortune. A lot of her power comes from strut and double up being quite limiting in their functionality beyond laning phase. Theoretically you can roam with strut, but most times the passive is just a balancing pain because it provides extra poke potential in lane to Miss Fortune's already strong early game. Past her laning phase, both strut and double up just become mediocre tools (double up is usually just an auto attack reset that doesn't bounce in dueling situations), so I am thinking these two need their design more heavily shifted from early to late game to fulfill the marksmen dps role more reliably than her current iteration.

My thoughts:

Reduce her early game lane bullying potential by removing the current strut passive. The current passive does not fulfill any fantasy other than running faster to objectives and giving early game bullying so it is a difficult balancing issue. Tweak the current passive strut by shifting the impure shots passive on-hit magic damage to the current strut passive: the caveat being that strut only turns on once Miss Fortune can reach full stacks on an enemy champion. By cutting some of her early poke potential with constant strut movement, Miss Fortune can trade for better kiting and chasing so she can continue to hunt down her bounty with the fully stacked bonus damage and speed. The change grants her a much needed end game fantasy too since she can hunt down targets.

Since her lane bullying is reduced, double ups functionality should also change to be geared towards better mid to endgame scaling and bounty hunting fantasies. Add a self-buff to impure shots that briefly modifies the double up functionality from a bounce to a heavy damage single target cast which she weaves in-between autos - essentially two quick shots from each barrel - that have above average base damages and do not crit. Again, the current iteration of double up feels very underwhelming outside the laning phase, so adding the impure shots interaction to alter functionality to better fit the situation would make her feel better. The new function of double up increases late game scaling, which seems an appropriate trade off since the removal of potential strut poke in lane. Overall, Miss Fortune should be a stronger mid to late game duelist while reducing her early game bullying with the adjustment to strut.

me likey. have that with improvements on her E....maybe being a double charge Make it rain with a shorter cast time, and you have me sold! <3

All they need to do is fix her scaling since her magic damage abilities scale off AD and her attack damage abilities scale off AP. Your post kinda just says nerf her laning because she is a lane bully so does that mean cait, draven and graves should all be nerfed too?

ParvatiShallow2 votes

If you read fully, I simply suggest to give her better tools in her unique passive and double up which lose their intended uses past laning phase. No other carry has such situational tools such as Miss Fortune's double up or strut after the laning phase. From a balancing perspective, I am saying give Miss Fortune better late game passive and Q but you can't keep her laning phase the same power obviously. The problem is not that she is strong early, it is that she doesn't feel satisfying to use late.

AtlanticDagger2 votes

Scaling on W would be nice to have as physical but omni's points are good as well. Both would be awesome!

John Berserk6 votes

I hope it also includes a change to her Q making it just an AA enhancer/resetter, because a point-and-click spell that does NOT apply spell effects, DOES apply on-hit effects, and is the same range as her basic attack range (at least I think it is?) just seems redundant to me.

Atsuki Kimidori1 votes

It's kinda late, but her Q have 100 more range (650 compared to AA 550) and it's a great poking skill wit how you can target the champion who standing behind minion, it's what make her early game so strong compared to other adc, changing to just AA enhancer will destroy her, and W already an AA enhancer anyway.

Bombkirby1 votes

"Auto attack enhancer" means to make the next auto attack apply the effect...

He means that your next AA will bounce and hit the next target behind the first. It's the same move but it works with On-hit, Sheen, and etc. It's a buff. Not a nerf.

Atsuki Kimidori1 votes

but you lose like 100 range?

Thanks for the info yo! Can't wait to see one of my fave adc's getting a special treatment! :D <3

Rip AP MF

Bodkins Odds1 votes

With any luck they won't kill off AP MF. After all, AP MF is best MF. ;)

A Miss Fortune1 votes

I've mained Miss Fortune and I think that AP MF while definitely could never match the damage output AD MF does, AP MF Mid is still really interesting and I think it's somewhat viable. It's hard to counter and she becomes a godly teamfighter later on, oh and her roaming/ganking ability is awesome.

Bodkins Odds1 votes

And her AP scaling physical damage ult can't be Black Shielded. :D

I just wish they'd up the scaling on it a little bit. The damage seems a bit low compared to AD MF's ult.

A Miss Fortune1 votes

They could give her ult a bit more late game damage for both AP and AD, but right now the base damage for all 2 seconds is 1,000 damage. If they gave it higher scaling like they did before, it could easily win a game if someone like Sejuani, Amumu, or even Aatrox just pinned down the team for 2 seconds.

We'll be bundling a small gameplay update with MF's visual update. Details aren't entirely finalized yet, it'll likely include some changes to Make It Rain though.

What'd be cool is to give her abilities more synergy with her w's impure shots stacks.

So like her e might apply a stack each second to enemies hit in the area (and maybe deal the stack damage too at the cost of a lower base damage?).

Zhico2 votes

any chance her ult scaling(so its not ap) will get changed along with making impure shots better overall, it giving magic dmg on hit seems pointless on an ADC

You're going to make it rain with changes? D:

seems most likely. Will still look mostly same but with new updated looks and feels.

I pray they make her R's physical damage scale off AD again. x.x

Chuck Fkn Norris1 votes

I don't think Make It Rain is where she needs changes. I love her E, it's the most potent slow any ADC has. The problem is people should be maxing it second, but instead they max W second and deal with a low damage, low cc ability. Personally, I think (to start) she needs to have physical on-hit damage rather than magic. It makes it less confusing for enemies to itemize against her and ... well it just makes sense. It would also be easier to tune her around that change, wouldn't it?

Also, believe it or not Strut is a big reason she has her lane bully identity. Rather than needing to build boots at the same time as other champions, she can have a few hundred extra gold to get more offensive items. It doesn't seem like much, but snowballs start small.

I hope Double Up gets some work. The RNG has always made it a problem spell and the last update didn't fix anything, instead it just made the targeting overly complicated.

A random idea I had once was to have the bounce become a projectile that always targets towards an enemy champion but since it's a projectile it can now be dodged and blocked if minions or another champion gets in the way.

Bombkirby1 votes

I hope you can answer this innocent question but why did your team feel MF needed a visual update? If it's private then I understand (like a Bilgewater patch) but it seems a bit random considering there's many older and uglier champions with pyramid feet still in the game.

Actually there's not. She's probably one of, if not the oldest champ remaining that hasn't had a visual or texture update. The only one that comes to mind is probably Mordekaiser. But I think he's on the boards for a much broader visual make over, not just an update like MF is getting.

Bodkins Odds1 votes

Taric, but I believe they were waiting until his full blown kit update takes shape before they start on his MTU.

Also, Anivia hasn't had anything but numbers changes since the game launched. And Rammus looks slightly clunky and has about five lines of dialog (if you count his random walk grunts).

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

any chance her passive wont be canceled by one minion aa? maybe she has to take 1% or 0.5% of her max health in order to cancel it or something?

perenigma5 votes

Can we also have a serious look at her Unique Passive Strut too? Because IMHO it's pretty crappy that it goes away cause a minion used mean look. And what some said earlier as well too her Double Up is kinda useless once the laning phase is over.

A Miss Fortune1 votes

I've met fellow Miss Fortune mains and they've all agreed while her passive isn't the best, it's surely not the worst in the game. It takes a lot of practice to fully master, but yeah I think it needs a small buff. Still, the passive is a defining key to Miss Fortune and I would probably not feel the same way towards playing her daily if it was changed.

Also the Double Up by no means is useless, it resets auto attacks, it lets you hit them from +100 Range, it's great for wave clearing and makes Miss Fortune a powerful duelist. While it isn't the best in teamfighting situations, it allows her to very easily kill a single target because it's an instant reset that does nice burst.

Mew Goes AD2 votes

You mean people actually use her E to try to slow opponents rather than just to help clear creep waves?

Sona Ping2 votes

Considering DoT's are terrible for clearing minions if you actually want the CS: Yes.

Rico Jungle Only2 votes

He's humorously sarcastic while making a **very ** valid point. Chill <3

Sona Ping1 votes

I am chill. It's just not a good point. It's a 65% AoE slow, it works just fine.

Rico Jungle Only2 votes

65% AOE slow at max rank LATE game. Early game, its only a negligible 25% slow (which you don't start maxing till I believe level 13) which enemies don't even stay in for more than a tic. It literally feels like someone just tapped them, but no slowing was done. It doesn't work well for the one area she dominates in...early game. <3

Bodkins Odds2 votes

I max E first, then Q or W depending on whether I need more poke or more sustained damage. The slow is very useful and it's got good base damage if you get it early. I'd still like it if it applied Impure Shots though.

Sona Ping2 votes

(which I don't start maxing till I believe level 13)

Fixed for accuracy. ; D

Just because you always max it last, doesn't mean everyone does. Also, I never have any trouble getting multiple tics and you can use it to zone either way. And when Fortune already dominated in the early game, she does fine late. Call it "The Caitlyn Approach", if you will.

Even Cait has a way better late game because she's got an escape, an execution, longer ADC range, and a root. MF s got a weak slow (currently) that won't stop the enemy from tearing you apart. <3

Sarcasm of this kind doesn't translate well when written. More often than not you'd look like an idiot rather than a smartass.

Adonna2 votes

fixing her outdated and useless ult would be great. Ever think of allowing MF to strafe like lucian does? but since its a wide range making the player chose one direction of movement (left to right or back to front something like that). Channeling ults just doesn't work in game anymore.

Oh man ive been waiting for an update on mf for so long. Here are my ideas for what could help.

  1. Change her q so that it prioritizes champions, lower or no cast time or maybe even like an auto attack reset and it should be able to crit on both targets
  2. make it so when you activate impure shots strut goes to max stats and cant be reduced for 1 second 3.Let "make it rain" actually do damage or slow a bit more
  3. make her ulti scale of ad

I like ALL of your ideas.

  1. Just needs a QoL buff to rearrange champion priority over minions.
  2. Not a bad idea at all
  3. I think the slow should apply for the full duration on anyone that gets affected, even if for a single Tick. (Ashe can have a free perma slow on AA's, no reason MF's only CC should be so limited.
  4. Agree completely
A Miss Fortune2 votes

Sorry, but this would just revert Miss Fortune to her old, overpowered state.

Her ultimate scales off AD by the way, it applies 2 stacks of her W's passive which does about 12% of her AD.

I think her Q prioritizing champions would let her bully in lane too much, her Q has a low cooldown, low mana cost, and that thing can hit like a truck once you get BF sword. I just feel like they should prioritize champions over minions a bit more, like a 15% more chance to hit champions rather than minions, simply because I would feel like Miss Fortune would return to being an unstoppable lane bully.

Miss Fortune's E doesn't need more damage, she already has some of the highest ADC damage output, she literally doesn't need a single point more of damage, what she needs is a bit more utility on her E, not damage.
