You cannot learn to beat something you never play as or against

Just a heads up, if you've never tried something, even in a bot game. And ban it all the time in normal games. Of course it will seem mystically powerful the few times you do fight it. You have no knowledge or instincts regarding that threat.

I know perfectly well how to play with and against Yasuo.

I just prefer not having to.

Sadly the reason why I ban Blitzcrank.

Sadly the reason why I ban Blitzcrank.

Unfortunately the best skill shot dodgers in the game can still get snagged by a Blitz grab, then with his knockup and "always up" ult he's definitely worth a ban.

True. Even if you have a good lane against him, he only needs like 10% accuracy to be lethal. And if you could not close the game out early, then you have to deal with late game, fog of war grabs because you can't have everything warded.

Like how a Blitz can miss hooks all game, but land one hook in lategame for the win?

I ban him simply because I suck at dodging his hooks. Preventative medicine is so much more effective than a cure.

Same like I know how to beat him, I know what champions are good against him, I know how to not feed my ass off if he has the edge over me. I just don't wanna deal with the 2x crit bullshit...

I went through a ton of losses learning champs like Zed, Riven and Jayce, I don't mind losing it's part of the game but screw Yasuo...

"But I don't wanna get my ass pushed into the dirt several times before I get it"

Sadly that's usually the best way to learn from experience. I say sadly because this is the reason I like to ban Darius and Irelia. I should be open to learning how to fight them, but the process to learning it feels very slow with how quickly they shove me into the dirt.

This is how I got over my fears of Yasuo and Zed that I picked up when I first started playing.

Now I can beat them consisently. My team on the other hand...

Cait's poweful enough to be worthy of a ban, I'd say.

It isn't so much as people not knowing how to counter something, its that they don't trust their teammates to be able to do the same.

What a revelation, woah.

Playing Syndra, Lux and AurelionSol into Yasuo is asking to lose lane even if you know how to play against him.

Kingnewgameplus1 votes

Syndra is pretty much an even lane. If you stun yas you can ult him before he windwalls you.

I've played Normals for the longest time and I've come across Irelia ONCE IN ONE YEAR. Guess who I face when I go into Ranked? Irelia. Multiple times. Fantastic. I also suck ass at fighting Yasuo and literally face him every day. A whole lot of good this training is doing, where can I go from here?

Easiest way to learn to counter a champion is to just type it into google.

But like others have said- teammates. And I'm pretty sure the 'how to counter Rengar' lecture I have to give just comes accross as self-interested nagging. (Playing support or ADC- these assassins are always 'my problem')

Blitz though is a MAJOR bummer. You have to do some severe wave management and if you fail at that, you're dead (unless you're Ez). He's not so much counterplay as forced-play. Permabanned- but I adore playing him.

Yeah I can play against blitz but I ban him for two reasons. Lots of my adcs cant and die lvl2-3 to surprise hook and also he's like the support for people who don't play supports so I figure if I ban him they wont have that comfort. This is just in bronze though I know he's not an issue in higher elos.
