Tanks should get a "size" stat that increases their model size.

ModCaptainMårvelous··94 votes·3,845 views

Imagine if a handful of tank items had 10-25% "size" on them.

Why you ask? Well...

  • Many tank skills radiate FROM the tank. (Naut's Riptide. Sejuani's flail. Amumu's crying) Increasing their size buffs how much damage they can do without increasing their raw power.
  • Tanks want to take hits and be frontline. Increasing size makes it easier to click them as well as absorb skillshots.
  • Increasing size makes it easier to click ADCs/fighters as well, making tank items less desireable for them.
  • Size conversely also makes you take more damage. Not a big deal if you have a lot of defensive items. However, if you're 50% bigger with one tank item, it's not nearly as good.

Overall, it would buff tanks who WANT to take hits and make items more desireable for them while nerfing people who could abuse tank items and make things like tank ekko/tank diana less desireable.

And then the enemy picks nidalee and the game becomes a 4 v 5

And all items providing the stats would have to be orange in colour.

Something like this yes. The problem is that it's on a late-game elixir and only purchased incredibly late into the game. If Size was a stat you'd probably move this away from the elixir but this would be a model of what we COULD have.

There are zero problems with this idea.

Where's his tattoo that reads "2 Edgy"?

Legacy Hydralpha3 votes

Edginess is for AD builds with swords, Tank Teeto has none of that, nor will he need it.

Lord Galvatron4 votes

I was referring to Teemo in this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilMIJ1gdPrM

He's almost exactly the same.

Ah yes Killguy McBiceps, the real champion we need. None of this Ruined King or Senna shit. KILLGUY. MCBICEPS.

Lord Galvatron2 votes

He kills guys, and he has biceps. What more do you need in a new league champion?

I don't get it. There's nothing in the YouTube video.

This is great, genius even. Skirmishers like Fiora MasterYi Ekko Riven Would not like getting bigger because it increases their hitboxes and makes wall-hopping more difficult.

This means that we'd find an incentive for these guys to NOT go tanky and fuck everything up.

ChaddyFantome6 votes

...this is actually genius. If handled correctly, I approve.

I suggested this before and everyone complained about minion block. Guess the season has changed. Anyways, I 100% agree.

ModCaptainMårvelous10 votes

Solution: At (x)% size, you ignore minion block. Because if you're big enough to step over towers why the fuck do you care about a 3 foot tall caster minion.

Zac's hidden passive should be a model for other champions. If Size becomes a stat, make his "unique hook" being that losing health makes him smaller. That way as things get more dangerous he can more easily get out of fights/avoid skillshots.

Glory ln Death2 votes

At 5% health, he's the size of a Teemo shroom.

It's the perfect defense! He'd be so small and cute, no one would want to attack him!

YES! Even though there's item 2138, champions can still abuse tank items.

xelaker3 votes

so cho and zac loose a fun and unique part of their kit?

ModCaptainMårvelous4 votes
  • Cho has built-in size (a rarity) and can easily exceed normal tank builds if size were a stat.
  • I mentioned this in another comment but Zac also loses size as he gets lower, which means while he can't tank as well when he's low he'll be able to survive better because he's a smaller target.

Many tank skills radiate FROM the tank. (Naut's Riptide. Sejuani's flail. Amumu's crying) Increasing their size buffs how much damage they can do without increasing their raw power.

In my experience that's not actually how Flail of the Northern Winds works. It has a set range away from Sejuani's centre, if you have an Elixir of Iron you actually need to be a little closer to enemies to deal damage to them. It matters less by the time you get EoI because you're typically level 18 and have ranks in Q and E, so you can stick ontop of a target better but if you were to buy it before you get your sticking tools it would hinder you.

That's not to say size wouldn't help Sejuani in any way, you would gain a little bit of range on the W hit but I doubt it would be worth what you'd lose on W ticks from being too large to apply them properly.

As it stands though, I'd avoid large size increases from items. I can play around EoI since it's so late and the other choices aren't great but I wouldn't actually want to be pumping up my size too much, the smaller I am the more W range I actually have to work with. If this was changed to work the way you thought it did, sure but as it stands I'd stick to whatever doesn't make me bigger, or something that makes me smaller if possible.

I foresee problems with champions fitting through the most narrow bushes if you could stack size large enough. You can already get pretty massive Chogath Lulu item 2138 item 3053 .

Unlucky472 votes

I don't like this idea. There are alot of times where I've been completely blocked out from something simply because the hit box was stupid. Thresh lanterns are easily stopped by sejuani parking her boar on them. I've missed kills on champions simply because the hecarim or garen walked in between us and It felt like I got cheated out of it because their asses are just slightly over the caitlyn or whatever. This would be good for tanks but just be a horrible experience for anyone else.

Inuyasha999991 votes

youre mad that the only counter to threshes lantern other than death was utilized? i bet you also want to buff irelia too

Unlucky471 votes

Did you only read the lantern part? There's a lot of consequences that would come out of it for anyone that isn't a tank. "i bet you also want to buff irelia too" bruh really. Only people that want her buffed are her mains, kind of like tank mains right now.

How will this work with Amumu? he so small since he is a yordle, and also a tank.

ModCaptainMårvelous4 votes

An amumu with a ton of size = Naut-sized Amumu.

not at all.

the tech to manipulate any champions size is already in the game. item 2138 Lulu etc.

its literally just a matter of slapping size modifiers on items. it would take far more efford to balance than to code.

I thought that was a set size increase, not ones that scale and change based on other stats.
