Surrender Mechanic.

It's there for a reason you know. It's not like surrendering is the worst thing in the world. There's many many more bad things that can happen. I don't understand why people believe in sitting through a 40 minute game in which our team is losing in objectives, CS, and kills, instead of pressing a little yes button that basically just lets us move on with our lives. By the way, I'm not saying "losing" as in "Oh, they have one more tower than us, better surrender." Or, "Oh, I didn't first blood, gg ff 20" By "losing" I mean things like, you and your teammates haven't pushed a single tower at around 17-29 minutes, your ADC is down 3 levels from the enemy ADC, your team hasn't secured any global objectives while the enemy has gotten them in three consecutive rotations, etc. etc. Drastic losing. Not the one guy whining about how he didn't get first blood, (or gave away first blood for that matter) and wants to surrender. Seriously. What's up with those people?

The problem with riot code is, these guys didn't know this would the the hottest shit since sliced bread that millions of players internationally would play, so in the beginning they just hacked in a thing here, and maybe make this a global variable because I mean who cares? Then it blows up, people want new stuff, now 100 some champs later, the code base is like a poor little hamster trying to power a city in his little wheel.

That said, what riot should be doing is investing their time in a new code base, let a season play out without too many mechanical changes, and let the programmers use their newfound knowledge to create a new engine from the ground up that isn't stuck together with paperclips and bubble gum. But I just know they won't do that because they won't be able to sell it (unless they brand it league of legends 2 in which case lol), so here they sit with this codebase that's a complete mystery to all but the grizzled veterans of the riot office, a proverbial jenga tower where you change one thing and the top half just falls in your lap.

I'm into programming, I can see the creases where the 1s are 0s are struggling to keep up the facade that everything is stable, just one more patch and it'll be okay, right? Oh, now karthas is invincible because you changed katarina for some reason, shit, time to hotfix that, and then 6 more unrelated bugs pop up, a whack a mole game in a football stadium. I'd love to just get a glimpse at their code base, I'm sure it's the programming equivalent of the attic that you just throw junk into and never look at or clean for decades, there's probably a body in there too.

Probably more than just one body in there. They've probably got a whole bunch of scrapped characters and stuff up there.

That's why voting exists, and since it took a good assumption that everyone came into this match with good faith that they'll win, hence it was set that you need around 70-80% Yes rate to pass the vote.

If the final verdict is that the team chose to stay, then stay because that's your team's decision.

rtbf2112795181 votes

But the problem is, is that regardless of whether or not at the beginning you think you're gonna win the match, is that it's not the entire team's decision to stay in the match. Most of the time, it's just two people who don't want to surrender, and in a team of 5, that's only 40%. If you need a 80% yes vote in order to surrender, why can't you make the same thing apply for the "Not Surrender" vote? If it's a team decision, then two people shouldn't control the entire vote. Edit: In the case in which the team is in a stalemate, where it's 3/2 or 2/3, the timer for the surrender vote would be shortened, and then automatically pop up again after the timer resets asking if people want to surrender. If it's another stale mate, the timer would not shorten, and instead be reset to the original cooldown.

your using logic riot doesnt like that.

seirosly though there are thee huge problems riot needs to focus on.

the report function is a mess ik as one of the jsut ff we are way to behind dont waste 40 mins of my life when the diffrences is

my enemy team teir one. vs every lnae turret. down 20 kills odds are they got the dragons and barons and its just gg at that point

the second is the ping.

east coast ping is real i played a gaisnt a 30 ping lee back when the 5v5 map was jsut getting changed. was night and day clear he had a better connection zero chance of wining.

i was 120 ping then im 140 ping now

and a year ago i was 90 ping when i first started. agian common factor is riot just play othere genras and games. riot is the worst on these fronts. and mobas are a bad comparison lytes single handly ruined the report function its like calling wii players gamers and we all know wii is for little kids you are not gonna see a squeaker in any mlg scene

I don't think the problem is that Riot is just ignoring these problems, I think it's more that they're working their hardest to fix these problems, but release no update information for fear of taking too long and ruining their reputation. I mean think about it, a company that makes promises of change but never changes anything is bound to be looked down upon more than a company that doesn't promise anything and spontaneously releases updates that fix problems the community has been having.

no any where there is a will there is a way either they are dragging there heels or are incompetent im leaing towards incompetent with how every game goes nowadays

rtbf2112795181 votes

Yeah, but the problem with what you're saying, is that there are a multitude of different things you have to do in order to solve these problems. Some of them they probably can't solve. Trying to find a bug in a game this complex is actually really hard, there are lines upon lines of code you have to sort through. Even then, you can still miss it.

i hate people like you who give excusess...

hes jsut a kid. they didnt know any better.

if they are a programmer then they know there are certain placed to look for certain things.

they will know this line here is about attack speed scaling this here is turret damage.

are they incompetent or not. it takes time. im not disputing that. what i am saying is they should know where to look its why they ask if it can be reproduced.

They're not excuses, I'm not trying to excuse Riot's tardiness. I'm just pointing out that there are a multitude of things that you actually have to check in a game like this. Have you ever actually debugged any sort of computer program? Every little thing you change can have an effect on the original coding. The implementation of patch 5.8, which had absolutely nothing to do with Xerath other than release a new skin for him, bugged his ulti so where your first shot fired right underneath you. It's like a domino effect, you put one thing out, which has a minor effect on one part of the code, in turn, that affected part effects a different code in a massive way. It's why invisible Nidalee spears, and Mundo Cleavers are so hard to fix, because there are so many different places you have to look. I think you're just really closed minded about this, thinking that everything flows in a straight line. I hate to burst your bubble, but people, games, and life itself does not flow in a straight line, where everything falls into place. That's just silliness.

an excuse is a reason.... at least know what an excuse is before syaing your not making them. you are

I'm not defending Riot, I'm not trying to excuse anyone, or remove blame, or anything up here. Do you know what an excuse is?

I have not once directly tried to excuse Riot for their lateness, make them look like they're not totally at fault (because let's be real, it's their game, it's no one else's fault but theirs.), and if you think that the fact that they have a massive coding database in which stores data for all of their champions, artwork, mechanics, etc, is a poor reason, or me trying to defend them (which I've stated twice that I'm not trying to defend them and their lack of necessary updates), then you really are close minded!
