Gold 5 Hecarim Main - Looking for optimal runes?

I am a sub-average Hecarim one-trick and I have some questions:

Predator Vs Aftershock? (Primary Keystone)

I like Predator on Hecarim and I was really hyped at it's release, but I just feel like this Keystone gives Hecarim something that is already There I feel like the damage boost is negligible from Hecarim's Passive is negligible from this keystone and while he does move faster how effective is it really? I get flamed often for not bringing Predator but I feel like that'd be a fun build if I were to go full damage/lethality type of Hecarim build. I'm not saying that Predator is Bad but Aftershock is better? The small boost in armor from Aftershock goes very well with his E since he's already on the topic so the damage would proc + if you're running into someone with a full tank build it'd soak up a lot of initial damage. If you have deadman's plate you'd be fast enough already and gapclosing with ultimate would be more than enough?

Overgrowth vs Second Wind Which one's better?

Overgrowth seems better for late while Second Wind seems better for all points in the game; I feel that overgrowth needs a lot in order to be effective, that you'd need to be around a lot of minion deaths and pile up a lot of HP in order for the rune to give you a little more than 200 HP (Maybe I'm just bad LMAO) But Second Wind seems like it'd be more beneficial for fights since they're whittling away at more hp since you're regening 0.4% of max health per-second in combat along with base regen health and health regen gained from items?

Secondary Keystone: Precision / Sorcery / Domination ? Which one offers most Merit + Reason why?

As a champion that can effectively scatter the backline, I'm wondering if Precision's Triumph rune would be more effective for teamfights, because if a fight goes positively, that heal with over 4k hp would be very spicy and the second one could be like whatever bc that's all that matters

For domination, the lethality boost and the out of combat movement speed boost is nice too and I wanna go on but I'm tired and this was a lot of typing in itself

I think that Sorcery has it's own merits since Ultimate hat and Celerity/Waterwalking gives good movement speed and ult spam, which would be great since Hecarim's teamfight is literally his Ultimate and his damage boost from passive is based off of movement speed. But is this > the other two?

Well personally it depends on the enemy teams comp, and how (I see/think) the outcome of the game is gonna go.

  1. Snowball game: I would lean towards Domination tree, any of the two runes would work fine on Hecarim (Electrocute/Predator)
  2. Passive game: Aftershock seems a little weak (dmg wise) but if you wanna be that strong front line that your team lacks I would go for it.
  3. (Overgrowth/Second Wind) seems both extremely really good, but if you want more tank stats (over the game) I would go for Overgrowth. Second Wind seems like a back and forth fighting formation, but if the enemy team has a consistent amount of poke, and you wanna engage more often, I would recommend taking it.
  4. All of those Key Stones are really good, but it's what you want or lean towards more. Personally I would go for Domination if I had it as my second Key Stone.
  5. Triumph would be good because it has saved me many times in tons of scenario.
  6. Sorcery is okay it's more towards (late game) to get the best of the stats. If you want to make hard engages then yeah I would recommend it. Overall: It's all on what you think/want :)))

Personally I currently prefer Aftershock on Hecarim jungle and I’m a Hecarim player that usually prefered Fervor>CoC for season 6/7. Predator just feels overabundant with such a long cooldown, meanwhile the tankiness and tenacity with Aftershock and Unflinching feels amazing. Choosing between Overgrowth and Second Wing depends on if you’re jungle or top. If you’re playing jungle then go Overgrowth, If you’re top then Second Wind. I don’t suggest Aftershock if you do play Hecarim top but Grasp or Resolve secondary runes are reccomended. Mostly all top laners in general are currently using Resolve secondary for laning power. Secondary runes as jungle are preference. Celerity with either Manaflow Band, Magical Hat, Scorch, or Water Walking is probably your best bet. Although Zombie Ward or Triumph/Coup de Grace is strong on nearly every champion(atleast untill the nerfs to the Precision combo).
