When I play a normal game I dont want to play with someone who is two tiers higher than me in ranked

When I queue up for a normal game I'm looking for a challenging game but not something like this. I was queued up with my bronze friend which skews the MMR a bit. However the difference between gold and diamond is imo bigger than bronze and gold. Now the reason this game was allowed to happen was because one of or both of the silvers were queued with a diamond. This isn't the first time this has happened either. In fact in the past few days I have been consistently playing with diamond or against diamonds in my normal games. This isn't fun. If I was looking for a super serious game I'd queue up for ranked.

edit: lets' not mention the fact that there is a 239 point difference in MMR. I'd rather wait a minute longer to play a fair match than for it to take 30 seconds to slap together two unequal games.

tl:dr you're matchmaking system sucks.

I wish the matchmaking was more consistent. I'm d5, and if I play with my friends who are low/gold silver and I get games like this all the time lol.

If the enemy team's MMR is too low or high, then its probably going to be a slaughter one way or the other. It also doesn't help that red team (should) always have a higher MMR because of the disadvantages to that side. This game was probably on the tip of what is allowed, but then that extra mmr difference from the sides just made it silly. Blue side has more advantages over red, so this is why that is there.

nothing to do about it because normals and ranked have seperate mrr/elo so it's matchmaking working as intended

This is because in Normals you can have 5 man premades.

Personally, I feel like your normal MMR should have a minimum cap, so that if you are Diamond, you can't be matched with Bronze players. Like, maybe do something so that it takes whatever a 1/3 of your ranked MMR is and adds it to your Normal MMR, so that it's somewhat, but not totally reliant on your ranked MMR. That way you don't have these Diamonds vs Bronze/Silver games, even if premades do mess this up a bit.
