What do you guys think of Gnar despite his winrate?

I just feels he's in a decent spot, but still not performing that well.

He isn't performing well due to people playing against bad match ups. He does poorly early game and can suffer if not used well in a teamfight.

To me he is a really strong top pick with a great kit.

-----mini----------------------------------------------------------------------------Mega------------ Q-Slow + DMG + low CD..................................... Slow w/ CDR pick-up Both over 110% AD scale W-%health DMG ................................................. Stun with big AOE 100% AD scale E-Gap open/close x2 %health and AS boost.... AOE Slow gap closer/open R-CD and AS boost............................................. Stun/slow Large AOE

And the passive FML. I am sure this info is know but seeing it as 4 slows, 2 stuns, 2 AS boosts, large Health regen and Ranged Autos is a very strong kit. So Gnar losing a lane is probably due to a bad Gnar. I'd love to know a true counter to him because I am yet to see one. And mage Gnar puts you in a 2v1 all lane top, well 1 v 1.5.

The trade off is that each of his kits, individually, are not really that great.

If you try to all in as Mini Gnar you will get your ass beaten by anyone that's not extremely kiteable. If you try to all in as Mega Gnar you will get out DPS'ed by anyone who's not a full tank.

Gnar's true power comes from engaging in Mini form to deal some decent DPS and then using Mega to finish the job with burst and CC. But this powerspike is extremely telegraphed and situational.

Gnar can be really strong, but any decent oponent who knows that he has to respect his Mini-into-Mega period can make short work out of him. Mega Gnar, in lane, will at most sit back and insta clear waves with QW, while Mini will just slowly poke you down.

True and I think you illustrate my point. Most top lanners are kite able. That's why they are top. So he is going to out poke most and if you happen to get behind or at him he hops away. Then he goes mega gnar and you back off because well he is mega gnar and will slow hop stun stun you to death then go mini and hop away if you are not dead kite you around. I need to play him more but when I play him his weakness comes in team fights because my team will not stop way clearing to let me ramp up a little to get close to mega for the fight. God forbid the ADC spares me 2-3 minions for the fight. But lane is painful for opponents at times because he will out poke and out kite you most every match up even knowing that Mega Gnar is coming.

I've only had one match up where I would wait for mega gnar to fight him just so he couldn't get away. I forget who I was. I wanna say Jax but could be wrong. And the Gnar sucked.
