You don't spend time collecting it, you just happen to acquire it WHILE playing the game, it's not like you have to go out of your way and do something completely different. You play the game, and if you manage to play well and focus, then you just happen to potentially get freebies. you did not pay any price or time, the time used is time you used on deciding to play the actual game. As for the price, you paid nothing outside of time playing the game which, as mentioned above, was your intention as you wanted to play the game, you paid nothing in cash and even if you did, you're gambling with random rolls on boxes which already should be understood when you make the purchase.
It's a random roll, don't expect to get amazing things on a lottery that everyone has the potential to get free just for playing.

First of all, your logic is full of fallacies.
second of all, I'll gladly take freebies. It may suck that I would have gotten much less than others and may even bring the way the prize was decided into question, but I wouldn't have any evidence to support or deny my own claim if I claimed that they were cheating. Or what, you would be the person that starts demanding that they should get the same as everyone else even though it was a completely random, completely free, and not even mandatory gain of a million dollars?
That's called entitlement, the belief that one is inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.
You don't HAVE to open your hextech chests if you don't want to, but hey I like free goodies from the game and eventually I'll find something I like among them and that's when I'll disenchant anything I don't like for essence and get my perm champ/skin/etc and I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it all the same.
