Glaring issue with this game.

Autofill, dodges, and insanely long wait times to actually play a game.

Autofills purpose is to make ques faster...but its having a entirely contradictory effect on que times. Its causing people to get roles they absolutely cant play, so they dodge, or they troll champ select, resulting in a dodge. its causing confusion in champ select between lane swaps, resulting in dodges. In short, all autofill is doing, is making us wait longer to actually play, because it makes us cycle through 15minutes of dodges.

GET RID OF THIS SHIT.

Back in my day if you didn't know a minimum of three roles you weren't ready for solo queue. Kids these days!

But you were playing those roles much more frequently as opposed to getting them 1 game per patch (more or less my autofill frequency. I suppose having support as secondary role makes autofill way rarer for me). I could somehow play ADC and jungle in s5 (for my skill level of course), now I'm clueless on even how to clear the jungle properly, let alone invade-matchups. On ADC I lost even the slow and inefficient kite I had and end up getting killed. Top I used to go Lulu and since she was made unviable I didn't learn a new go-to top to use so rarely.

Also the chance of facing someone who mains the role is way higher than back then since autofill is not THAT frequent as being in a low pick order position was.

Doesn't change the fact that a lot of people HAD to be versatile and understand more than just one role to play the game. It's ironically a huge reason why getting autofilled hurts you so badly, because people barely get to play roles they aren't used to. I seriously wonder sometimes how this game would be if we never added the role queue and stuck to last pick autofill. It was cancer but I'll be damned if it didn't make people experience what it was like to play the least impactful role vs. the most impactful in the game. Saw more non-meta picks because people refused to play certain champs due to their favoritism of certain playstyles.

It was more common to see complaints over "x champion" than "x role" because not everyone knew how to fight said champ. Now if you're in your main role you're somehow expected to fight anything and everything because it's your main role.

Yeah, I remember having games get dodged 7-8 times before getting a game, often resulting in ME getting autofilled. So not helpful.

NO. There are a lot of people who play support if they are autofilled. I've been arround when there was no autofill, and i remember that one time where i was hitting 1 hour with queue time. I never want to go back to that. And for those unreasonable minority that refuses to learn to play a single one support champion. Screw you.

It's simply getting ridiculous at this point. I understand the system, but there needs to be something more. If you go through dodges and dodges, you should NOT be allowed to be autofilled. Multiple times I've had my chosen position, multiple times I've gotten to choose the champion I want to play. Yet, someone dodges, and I get bloody autofilled!! Having to wait 2-3 minutes just to get into the champ select screen, another 1-2 minutes for everyone to choose it, and just to get dodged. Then be fucking autofilled and loose my wanting to play a game

Restart the queue after every dodge. Seriously, autofill has been out for what? 3 years or more now? How are people not aware of this still?

What is even more sad is that after 20 minute dodge fests you not only get autofilled but then your game was decided before the 10th minute mark

You are effectively longer in queue then your games last which is total bullshit for a game with this many players

I just find it tilting to get someone who is like "idk how to play support, switch me" or the "I don't support, give me mid or I troll."

Like... you literally can't stand in a bush while your adc farms for 20 minutes??? Is it that hard to just press W as a Raka and just heal your adc... Support is the easiest role in the game, and if you don't know how to play it, then you should stick to bots cause that's literally how simplistic the role is.

Or the excuse "I don't own any support champs, so I'm going to go Hecarim support"... that is why there is FREE-TO-PLAY, like even if you aren't to familiar with a champ, I'd rather you play someone who can benefit your team rather than you troll and feed the enemy cause you can't do anything to help your ADC. Most supports are super easy with decision making, I'd say the most complicated would be either Bard (for his passive roam) or Thresh (the proper time to engage) but other than that... they are all basically brain dead easy. Shield or Heal.

IF it even makes it easier for these players, Riot should just make Sona free to everyone cause literally all you do with her is press buttons... she has 1 skill shot (her Ult) and even that has such a wide range it's hard to miss.

"Give everyone Sona" > so they can die to Alistar lv2 combos for being the squishiest champ in the game while not understanding Alistar can do that to them? Nah man. They need to learn the role. Just how it is.

You can't use free champs in Ranked either.

I agree with you, and I know you cant use free to play in ranked, i meant in any game all around. Maybe some other tactic could work... like... idk... maybe for the first 10 levels on your account you can only play support? or something along those lines.. idk.

For a lot of players the role is just painfully unfun and boring.

All of the reasons you've listed for why the role isn't difficult or is accessible, while true, are also all reasons why people dislike it.

Honestly I feel like a huge issue with autofill is the fact that the support role just sucks. It feels shitty to play, its not very fun for most, and you really cant make those huge outplays you can with other damage based champions. That's why we're seeing picks like Velkoz Zyra , because if you get caught, you can ACTUALLY fight people. IMO the support role in general should be completely overhauled to do more damage, and less 'let me suck the ADC's dick for 45 minutes'.

Legit all of these champions have playmaking potential or are meant to peel for their team. Not enjoying their job despite it being what your team actually needs and/or not being good at one or more of these champs is the problem with autofill. If you want to play damage supports like Brand, then play them. Nobody is forcing you to play only peel supports, but I promise you it will not win you a game when they have MasterYi Fizz or Zed and your teammates get oneshot because you can't use anything other than Exhaust or a dodgeable skillshot to defend your team with. No other role in the game has as much CC available as the support role outside of tanks in the top lane or jungle, and not all of them are peel-focused.

they don't exclusively support the ADC...they support the entire team, they just baby sit the ADC because the ADC is vulnerable when isolated whereas other archetype champions are not.

The problem isn't people getting roles they can't play, it's that they don't want to play support which is ridiculous because it is the easist role to play at a proficient level. Alistar Braum Janna Karma Leona Lulu Morgana Nami are all champs that are easy as hell to play at an adequate level and note that i am specifically saying proficient as in satisfactory im not implying any of these champs are skilless or easy to master i am just saying using their base functions to perform the support role is an easy task. " But i realise that supports are necessary and someone has to do it but I just wanna play mid all day" well there are plenty of damage dealing supports Annie Lux Orianna Sona just dont pick them when your team has no frontline and say that autofill is the problem. It truly baffles me when someone claims to not know how to supp then wants to play a carry role like mid or ad if you can't play the easiest role in the game how can you expect me to trust you with a more mechanically demanding role that has a greater effect on the game??

I dodged once because of autofill (there are no free support champ) and other time went afk in game because police came to my house (there was a theft next to my house, so they wanted to ask if I have seen anything). Now I have to wait 20 mins before game for 5 games :/

Except the numbers literally show the opposite, hun.

Queue time is reduced by autofill. Because the dodges are significantly outweighed by the reduced queue time. And it's not just a few seconds, but an actually impactful amount of time at all levels.
