Why do losing lanes beg for jungle ganks?
Most of the guides advise to avoid ganking losing lanes, yet players in losing lanes will often beg and plead for ganks. What gives?

Because getting stomped for 40+ minutes when a gank could have put you ahead or on even footing is no fun.
Piss on that. If someone is losing lane and start complaining that a lack of ganks is the reason, I'm never ever coming close to that lane. A gank cannot help someone that noob. You have to be truly horrible if you're unable to handle yourself in a lane without someone babysitting you. The jungler has two other lanes to look out for AND he has to farm too. He can't babysit some noobshit that doesn't understand the basics of how to lane.
Because people rarely understand that ganking someone who is 4/0 is a terrible idea that will only result in a double kill.
Yes being behind is fun, but most of the time they person who gets behind failed so hard that they cannot be trusted with a gank.
Because in the current system of the game it's really, REALLY hard to come back into a lane without some major fuck up, sometimes even from a 1/0 as long as it at the right time and you lost a lot of exp from a push. And that results in the gap extrapolating due to being zoned out of CS-ing, eventually reaching a point where you can barely participate in the lane at all.
That's all.
Many players think that they need to carry the game by themselves.
They just aren't capable of losing lane gracefully to let other players carry them.
Jungle guides want you to focus on the winning lanes because of the belief that if your teammate's lane is losing, they're probably bad and getting them fed won't do any good anyway. People want ganks because sometimes you're against a lane bully champ and if you get ahead by by a bit then you're even with them but if you're behind or equal to them in gold, early on, then they'll be stronger.
Whenever my lane is losing I tell my jungler to go away and let me farm. Most junglers don't understand how to snowball a lane or play off a matchup. It's not as self explanatory as laning is.
There are alot of replies but it's typically due to fun. Being behind in lane is not fun. Especially toplane. It is very dificult to farm and if they are good you get zoned off and frozen against. The option that is always the right choice is to snowball an advantage. The only reason a jungle or midlaner should go to a losing lane is if a kill/objective is 100% for sure. If I am playing jungle and one of my lanes are losing I just ward up for them and camp other lanes. If they can't use the wards I place to avoid ganks and dives then it's likely that the game is just lost. It's an inefficient use of resourses to attempt to bring a losing lane back into the game. It's far better to simply snowball the advantages you have so hard they can't stop the bleeding.

This.
Everything else is garbage.
Most of the people in the world have food, yet people without food will often beg and plead for food. What gives?
EDIT: I'm going to clarify on my kappa here-- it's an easily-readable solution to the problem of a losing lane, give it a kickstart. It's literally a cry for help. The losing lane, being that it's losing, wants something to tip the scales.
Is this really such strange logic?
#because in the pre lvl 6 and before first backs environment any 2v1 easily wins, regardless of champion choice and how many kills they have or how behind your laner is.
(and even when the riven is 2 lvls up and 4 kills ahead if shes full damage... THAT RIVEN IS SUPER KILLABLE!!!)
((the issue you are experiencing when she instead turns and 2v1's you is she was 6 and you weren't, you didnt ult together/work together in the gank, and you outright failed to land your abilities getting outplayed, you should still win 2v1 even when an all damage champ is ahead))
that moment when even junglers dont know how to jungle.
It's urgency based on time, thanks to snowballing damage & ineffective turrets; would you rather try taking down someone with only a couple kills for a lead now, or a dozen kill lead later?
You could always just try not feeding.
You could try giving constructive criticism, or at least team support.
Firstly I dont ever criticize in game. Its a waste of time and rarely does anything other then tilt the person who is being criticized. but if you think about it. If I have 1 lane who is ahead. 1 who is losing. and 1 who is even. Its far more valueble to tell the losing lane to ward up and most importantly just not die. Leach EXP and whatever cs which can be gotten safely. Maybe even stroll by the lane and drop a few wards to help keep him safe. and then just snowball the hell out of your winning lanes. This is the approach I take when I am losing lane. Its sucks for the losing lane to keep losing. but Trying to stem the tide is less effective then busting the enemy dam wide open and diving a winning lane and securing tower first blood and dragon. or even taking top and gifting rift before and after change. A 5-0 teammate is more impactful in the game then 5 people who are all 0-0-0 so snowballing advantages is the best course to win. You can try to anticipate dives because counter ganking a dive can easilly turn the tides as well.
Long story short tho, losing lanes should not gimp the team by demanding jungle pressure. If the jungle is camping a 2-0 darius/riven/renekton its entirely possible that they #1 turn it into a double kill or #2 allows the opposing jungle to snowball an otherwise even lane against you. And we all know that two losing lanes is far worse then 1.
#edit. if (for example) top is losing hard. if you go mid and get mid an easy kill and take first tower that frees mid to roam top and have a 3 man gank. Its very hard for even an ungodly fed enemy to turn around a 3v1. and if you pull that off you can turn a losing lane into an open lane by proper macro decisions.
If the community wasn't so hostile (years ago it was quite mellow), constructive criticism should be easily said and accepted, along with less serious subjects while waiting to run around the map. Including educational discussions such as teaching new players about how experience leaching works. However your previous comment is unfortunately demonstrates all the effort the majority seem to care about any more, bashing people for being ignorant without clarifying what/why they're saying it.
What I'm saying is that if a lane is falling behind notably, don't blame them for loosing even more when the rest of your team refuses to help them; likewise don't flame them for when their opponent starts roaming and changing teamfights either. But more often than not, that isn't how games go down; as I mentioned regarding the increasing hostility over the years in the player base.
A lot of less experienced players think that ganking is used to 'fix' losing lanes into winning lanes, but in practice it rarely works out that well, and often is worse than the alternative strategy of ganking a lane that's already winning so that it goes from 'winning' to 'crushing' and gets tower early and then can rotate and play the rest of the map (including 'rescuing' your struggling ally that's been losing their lane).
I usually tell my jungler not to gank for me if I am being beat in lane unless I see that they are fed enough that we stand a decent chance of winning the fight even if counterganked by enemy jungle or mid. (e.g. If I have a 4/0 Lee and I'm 0/2 against 2/0 enemy laner, that's probably still a productive gank, if for nothing other than getting the Lee even more fed).
A lane that's already winning does not need your help. A lane that's losing does. How is that difficult to understand?
