ADAPTIVE FORCE: Nothing But More Confusion
[zombie-brand-mindblown]
This terminology adds nothing useful - especially when combined with arbitrary numbers. All it does is sow confusion. Adaptive Force does not exist in the game so why are we given this as the only information for stat shards? Even pressing Shift provides no additional information. I want to know how much AD or AP I'm getting. That's all. These are core stats for all damage items so it's nearly impossible that they would confuse players. They've existed since the game's inception. Meanwhile, Adaptive Force is a fairly recent concept and not on any items.
It turns out that "+10 Adaptive Force" isn't actually 10 AD as you may have intuitively guessed. Instead it's 6 AD but AP is indeed 10. I had to waste time finding this instead of getting it directly from the interface in a friendlier manner. Wouldn't it be far better to just outright give the information that literally every player actually cares about rather than another random abstraction? How hard would it be to just have it be "+6 AD or +10 AP"?
Even if they want to use "Adaptive Force", does "+10" actually contribute any useful information for a stat which doesn't exist in the game? People wouldn't know that it's correlated 1:1 with AP unless they looked it up... If you want to keep "Adaptive Force" as an explanatory abstraction, just leave numbers out of it. Although, I'd argue that a player who doesn't understand what AD or AP refers to will not even be doing his own runes either way (they might not even know what items are). And at the very least have Shift explain that this corresponds with +6 AD or +10 AP depending on the champion type. This is basic information and the only thing I care about when seeing that.
