Greater Stealth Totem still starts at Zero stacks

Meddler said they were thinking about making trinket upgrades free because people often forgot to buy them or didn't appreciate them enough.

Well, a simple way to make the standard trinket item 3361 more appealing is by keeping the CD of the item 3340 instead of starting at 0 stacks and having to wait 60 seconds for your first ward.

A few examples: When you upgrade your item 3340 while it is ready to use, you should start with 1 stack and start counting down for your second stack (which will be ready after 60 seconds). If you just used your item 3340 and is on a CD higher than 60 seconds, the item 3361 starts at 0 stacks with a 60 second CD. If your item 3340 is on a CD between 0 and 60 seconds, item 3361 will keep the CD, still having 0 stacks.

It does not make sense for a purchase to start on cooldown. You don't have to wait 5 minutes after buying GA to get its effect. If you level up Akali, you don't need to wait for your first stack. All abilities that have stacks start at one upon levelling it for the first time. There are no other items with stacks to compare this with, but all other items with active also start being available. All other trinkets will start available if your trinket was available before upgrading.

I've litterally had moments where I had the gold to upgrade but decided not to because I had to ward Baron or something else ASAP.

When upgrading item 3144 you don't need to wait for the item 3153 or item 3146 active to come off cooldown after using item 3144's active.

When upgrading item 3077 you don't need to wait for item 3074's active to come off cooldown after using the active of item 3077.

Why should we wait for item 3361 to come off cooldown after we used item 3340's active?

The other trinkets also keep the CD of the pre-upgrade version. So I don't think item 3361 should completely refresh, just not go on CD if it already was off cd.

I think its a ok drawback for having unlimited stealth wards for 250 gold. And it only takes your trinket spot

It should start with one ward ready to go, yes.

You're currently spending 250 gold to lose your current ward and wait 60 seconds until you can ward again. You are paying gold to hurt yourself for a short time.

You could make the item give gold generation and people still wouldn't buy it. The problem isn't that the item isn't good enough, the problem is that people either forget to buy it or don't care to. Overtuning an item to try to get people to buy it just gets you items like Feral Flare.

True, but I never understood why my trinket became unavailable after upgrading it. Just doesn't make much sense.

Dilemma: -Do I want more people to realize how bloody OP AS HECK upgraded trinkets are, so that my teammates always upgrade without me having to pester them??

-Or do I want to have this advantage over the people who don't yet realize how powerful they are?

To be honest... It should start with at least one Ward regardless...

Because you did just throw 250 gold at it.

Yes, but the other trinkets also don't refresh upon upgrade. item 3361 should be on par with other trinkets, not the non-trinket items (which do reset upon upgrading).

And when you forget to put down a ward before purchasing it, you essentially lose out on a ward and have to wait 60 seconds -_-. I mean if you a have ward charge, that should not go away.

Sometimes you don't even have the chance to place the ward before you buy the upgrade. For example if you died. Also, sometimes you need a ward as soon as you go back to lane, and you were at a position that didn't require a ward before backing.

This is so obvious, I don't see how anyone can disagree.

It's fixed on PBE, so you can expect it coming in the next patch.
