Thunderlord's would have to be reworked into something completely different

for the other keystones masteries even compete. Right now playing Plat or Diamond is hearing the noisy chime thing sound it makes each time it goes off cooldown all the time, and sudden bursts of energy scoring first bloods and easy ganks here and there.

Things like Fiora, Xin, Quinn or Elise run rampant destroying everything within range. It's come to the point where 4 of 5 champions have the mastery.

Why not make it more utility oriented like it was supposed to, for mages?

Like, a bigger range, a small slow of 1 second and much lower damage.

It needs to be addressed, as it is right now It's just TOO good. Even if it had 1min cooldown it would be super strong anyway

or you could just buff the other keystones

it's not that it's "Too good" it's that everything else now sucks so there's nothing else better to take

the entire keystone thing has been a whopping failure if you ask me.

First everyone was using warlords, then fervor, now thunderlords. I don't think will stop until every keystone gets butchered

Or we could just get rid of new masteries entirely and stick to the old ones. Honeslty not one good thing has come from these mastery changes its always just "SPAM THE BROKEN THINGS!" all preseason so far.

What we see currently is less Thunderlord's alone (although its base damage might be a tad on the high side/CD on the low side), and more the fact that TLD is so strong in combination with the Precision mastery (which helps TLD's damage output even on non-mages).

Precision, which is literally the strongest mastery right now and which is better than both penetration masteries in Ferocity combined.

And it is not like the rest of the Cunning tree is bad/specialised enough to make up for it. You have extra damage to minions and monsters (useful for everyone but the support), cookies (better potions are, again, generally useful) or Assassin (good for solo laners) or extended buff duration (good for junglers), mana regen or extra damage to low targets and Bandit (more gold) and Dangerous Game.

I reiterate, Thunderlord's alone would not be too bad. Precision is what makes the combination blow everything else out of the water. That mastery is stronger in its general application than Battering Blows and Piercing Thoughts combined. To put it into perspective: A target would need 120 MR (after a potential Void Staff) or 200 Armor (after a potential Last Whisper) for PT/BB to be as efficient as Precision.

I don't know why you would take extra damage to minions/monsters over movement speed unless you're jungling. Movement speed is actually really useful for just about doing everything whereas 5 damage to minions... is essentially nothing as you should be able to lasthit regardless of it. Precision could use a small nerf but honestly it's not quite as OP as you say. On some champions CDR works better, take Azir for instance. It's just that % penetration masteries are fairly garbage.

Because those five damage can make a lot of a difference in your last-hitting during early laning, especially if you use a lot of auto-attacks (all ADCs. Most top laners. A lot of mid laners). The movement speed, on the other hand, is conditional and only active if you're not in combat. If it was always active, I'd agree with you.

Azir is one of the few offensive champions to prefer the CdR over the penetration, as his most successful builds seem to indicate. Imo, it is connected to the fact that his highest winrate build does not feature much additional CdR beyond Nashor's and said mastery: http://champion.gg/champion/Azir/Middle

For the penetration masteries, I'd honestly like to see them buff the respective values to 10% - but only in connection with a buff to Unyielding. Which should either affect base Armor and MR, as well, or be buffed to 7-8% max. The buffed penetration items and stronger flat penetration would make up for it.

riots already taken a different direction by buffing warlords, fervor, stormraiders, and SOTA on pbe. Tbh the tiny thunderlords nuke isn't so oppressive it's just every strong mastery got a nerf on the last 2 patches.
