I think I finally figured out Alpha Strike's problem

It's perception vs gameplay.

Much like when a skill whose particles totally didn't hit your champion's model, but it's hitbox does indeed hit your hitbox. Because Riot actually uses simple shapes for hitboxes and not what the actual model/particle is.

Yi players who Alpha Strike are dying AFTER and IMMEDIATELY after it ends. Half the time it's due to Thunderlords.

I've been analyzing Cowsep's videos for awhile now and there were indeed a few bullshit times, but after Alpha's code was remade this part was still a problem. Before the code remake and after this was a problem. It wasn't always Thunderlord. The problem was and is that Yi dies before his model even returns to the screen. There's no perception of damage being taken. It's simply a grey screen and the model falling to the ground.

Riot, if you read this, it would go a long way to alleviating Yi player plain by making it more clear that Alpha Strike has ENDED.
