I know Mobafire is often known for stupid bullshit. But SpikeThePike has been updating this guide since like S3 or S4(can't remember which) this guide is updated with nearly every single patch. While heavily bias for Shyvana, he is one of the most in-depth and best guide writers there are. I once considered writing a Shyvana guide, then remembered he existed and that there is no reason to.

The great thing about this guide is it not only explains what you should do, but why you should do it. And it gives comparison to popular opinions and ideas on how Shyvana is played vs what he considered optimal. If you want to get into Shyvana as one of your primary champions, I suggest reading this entire guide start to finish first. If nothing else, you will learn a lot about how the champion functions and her general strategies.

She's not worth playing

She has no CC. They nerfed her clear speed and needed her speed in the jungle by reworking how W works.

She used to be good in terms of diving the back line. They helped her slightly by updating her ultimate to be unstoppable but the amount of diving we have now to prevent the back line getting hurt is much better as well. She also gets bursts because her passive no longer grants resistance

All in all. Don't play her guys

Still pretty much can control her jungle routes like no other champion can. Her counterjungling allows her to punish enemies pretty easily if she sees them go gank, and in this meta you will not see people do 4-camp clears unless it's Hecarim and such. Shyvana outspeeds Hecarim on the climb to level 6 regardless.

She's bad when your teammates need early jungle pressure to do anything, like Quinn vs. Renekton. The Renekton will literally be incapable of farming until you go gank him. It's worse in lower elo but countered by her midgame spike where she literally outdoes everyone until it hits late game. Her item builds need to be flexible as per the user or you're going to have a terrible time though.

Perfectly good champion but difficult entry level.

Her design itself sees great success and synergy with on-hit effects and she was always a farming jungler that prioritized getting ahead by clearing things faster and then moving to objective control.

Want to remind you that just because she's not dominant in the meta and holds her own niche, does not just suddenly mean she's a bad champion. She has seen her highs and lows and you aren't respecting when those were if you're capable of saying "she has a problem and it's that she has no CC." She's a juggernaut and is perfectly capable of beating people without the CC, thus why her clear speed was nerfed. Top 5 most picked jungler in Korea after her rework is not "limbo" lmao. It's why they had to nerf her.

Your actually very wrong, her mid game AD burst is the best in the game, her jungle farming is tier #1 and

she has amazing peel and tankiness while being super fast

She is a great pick in certain comps

Shyvana is plenty good. And that is considering tanks are bad, the people she counter jungles best. Now just imagine if Sej, Amumu and Zac were meta. She'd be bordering unstoppable just like in S5.

Oh cool this should be helpful. :D I really enjoy her in normals but I'm not very good at figuring the best build path a lot of the time.

One question I'm not seeing an answer to here though. How do you feel about hextech gunblade on her? I know it sounds weird but I've actually had a lot of success building it as a second item on her and maxing e second. Not sure how it stacks up after the recent buffs to BoRK since they do very similar things, but the flat damage and stronger slow on the active make it feel really good for chasing down and killing squishies, plus I feel like I get a bit more mileage out of the omnivamp than I do from regular lifesteal. Helps make up for delaying tank stats for a bit.

Prior to the BotRK changes, Gunblade was an equal oddball choice. Picked if you needed more AoE damage and in-fight sustain over single target DPS. Now BotRK is clearly better in most cases.

There use to be. AP Shyvana died completely with the rework. Also replace that LB for a Nashor or Luden's. Generally better options. SV is good but most teams are AD so I'd prefer to get Sunfire for more burns. Abyssal also is going vs AP comps.

It's way better from what i can tell(I pretty much exclusively play AP shyv). The Human form E is not as good, but goodness gracious the dragon E makes up for it. I Keep Lich bane as core on AP shyv for the up-front burst on a Ult-E-Q combo. If they are tanky then i would replace the rylais for nashors. Honestly, not that big a fan of ludens any more.

I have zero respect for anyone who groups Yi up with assassin junglers and says "dude just build frozen mallet against Yi lmao".

I will shit on the breakfast of any bitch ass Shyvana who rushes a Frozen Mallet against me as Yi.

Also, the very idea that Shyvana outscales Yasuo or Fiora is laughable. Then weirdly enough they think Renekton is hard to duel like, say, Jax is.

This person is a huge fucking nerd and probably isn't very good at basketball. 0.1/10.
