Seems to be a controversial situation, so I would like to know some thoughts on supports like

and just mages as supports in general

Karma was designed as a Support who then became played as a Midlaner, if i remember right. Not the other way around. It's good to see her back down there.

Brand and Malz are becoming massively strong as supports. Arguably as strong as being mid while not having the disadvantage of being alone and isolated by the jungler as if they were mid and reaping the benefit of a mostly damage oriented build while still maintaining decent gold levels with a gold income item. I think this creates problems especially with the large amount of CC, dots and burst they can do by mid game while being a "support".
Love AP supports. You actually feel useful and can carry from that position
