I'm thinking of mayyyybe starting to play her again and wondering if anyone's tried Riven in the jungle lately. I'd imagine she's not the quickest with getting Dragon but not too shabby either, and the ganks would probably be ridonkulous... what do you guys think?
Truthfully? I think there is a reason she is rarely seen in the jungle. Other than her very short duration shield, she has little in terms of sustain in the jungle. And her clear isn't fast enough to make up for it. Not saying she can't do it. But I wouldn't do it in ranked.
Back when she had an early game, she could jungle alright.
Right now, between having only a very short duration shield for defense and having all of her early-game damage nerfed to garbage, she's not much of a jungler. She needs the relative safety of top lane to function.
It's bad.
She doesn't clear well until she has an item or two and she has no sustain in her kit, terrible hp/5, and is very squishy. Her first clear she needs a really hard leash and she's basically pigeonholed into a specific jungle route due to the above.
HOWEVER.
It's fun.
Really fun, and if for some reason your enemy jungler doesn't come bully you and shit, say for example, they're a weak early game tanky jungler like, say, Amumu, then if you get the gank ball rolling and can keep up momentum, it's incredibly fun. Only Shaco is more fun in the jungle, imho.
Yeah I kinda thought the same thing, but what about early lifesteal / Tiamat rush? That item significantly improves clear times and still gives HP regen. I guess the other issue is building attack speed or trailblazer on Riven so you can clear faster, but that means you're sacrificing damage for AS and not having chilling smite for ganks
Tried it. 2 times. got stupid feed the first time and had issues the second time. (i don t main riven)
if you are a good jungle,i would say her gank ,specially early,are deadly with red. Counter jungle is possible,but that is not her main strenght. Her clear time is not good when aoe is not require.
I played Riven jungle yesterday, I snowballed and ended up going 8/0 but it's only because I was against unexperienced players. It's not good by any means but it's doable, you have to back after blue buff and buy 4 or 5 pots to be able to sustain at all but the ganks are great and having a hard-scaling bruiser jungler is a really good asset. You don't need Stalker's Blade to gank, go Trailblazer into Tiamat and get Hydra into LW/Ghostblade and you can either get 1 more damage item or go tank.
Eve, Shaco, Udyr, Lee, Xin, Vi, Yi, Kha, Rengar, Nocturne will probably invade and kill her... You can play her vs something with bad early game, but she will get outscaled pretty fast by the tank junglers who don't need expensive dmg items to function, just hp and resists...
