Surprisingly, Poppy is getting banned alot in Silver. Why?

I want to start off by saying that I main Poppy, and as a Poppy main I play the champ more for her utility then her damage. Especially with the most recent Nerf to her Q damage, I don't find her to be ban worthy, as a lot of her utility can be controlled and limited by picking the right champs. (IE don;t pick dash heavy champs)

I made gold last season and was put in bronze this seasons (Niiiice placement system Riot.) and slowly I climbed may way to so silver, I've been in gold and I've been in bronze and while i was I noticed that Poppy was almost never banned.

However when I hit silver I'm seeing her banned left and right. so I'm curious as to what it is about Poppy that silver players fear the most?

She can legit solo carry with her toolkit, lots of damage and lots of cc everything you want in a top laner

By the way, that cooldown nerf on her E definitely hurts her. Shes definitely still very strong, but right now, theres definitely higher priority bans out there.

Ahh.. personally I like her being banned but I'd never use my own ban on her. Sorry team but Xin, Yi and Zed are bigger problems right now. (Hey I just noticed, this patch's cancer is XYZ!)

The nerfs to her while they seem to have fixed her overall problem of too much damage for too much utility, hasn't changed the fact that she's still a strong utility tank who puts out good damage when built for damage.

Her E>R combo alone is generally enough to completely nullify a fed carries damage output in a fight. So I imagine the people banning her are probably the Rivens and Yis who don't want to get golfed away.

That being said, give it a few days and you can probably expect people to stop banning her all the time.

I think it has something to do with IBG. As it gives her a good mix of mana, Armor, and notably the CDR, to make utility even more pronounced. And with the sheen proc, it gives her some good base damage while allowing her to kite anyone she hits.

Another part of it might be her buckler. As it gives many of the advantages of a melee on a ranged attack. (Part of the reason why GP was good.)
