I also made a list.

HE HAZ NO HEELS STOP COMPLAINING ITZ A VALID WEAKNESS!

Because everyone knows Relic Shield doesn't exist obv.

At least he doesn't have an easy time using it because of no execute.

Pros probably have an easier time, because well they're pros...

I'm no fan of Thresh, I'm just saying he has to last-hit like everyone else for it. >.<

Yeah, but the empowered auto from flay makes it a lot easier.

Sire Hippington4 votes

i love it if thresh goes relic than i play against him, it's a easy lane. 99% off all treshs suck at lasthits, despite the E, so either thresh gets little money as he can't use his stacks, or his adc tries to leaf him some, but tresh fails and the adc looses on cs.

But most off all, if tresh uses his empowered AA on a minion, you can easily go for a trade as he looses~33% off his total damage potential...

Ariel the Cruel20 votes

I find the ADC often doesn't let him even try to last hit. If a support can't 50-0 the minion, they're aren't allowed to have it.

This is especially annoying after lane phase. At which point you will never proc Targon's again.

Haeyi8 votes

And because you're desperately trying to get last hits before the ADC, you end up auto attacking early and the minion dies.

xFrostKnightx2 votes

When you have 4 charges and the ADC uses a skill to kill the canon minion before your AA animation hits.

......."Let me get canon minion and proc charges or solo lane."

Thresh isn't a champion that is hard countered by any particular style of champion, but rather the specifics of a champion's kit. Morgana shits on Thresh simply because everything about her kit practically nullifies his.

  1. He has almost zero damage and is completely reliant on his team to follow up. He isnt going to blow you up like a "support" Lux

  2. Heavily reliant on his hook which is easy to dodge. Hook has a long wind up time, narrow hit box, and slow missile speed

  3. NOBODY EVER CLICKS THE DAMN LANTERN

TurquoiseYoshi33 votes

1: ... Like every support. if the support is building damage, they really aren't supporting too well.

2: Heh. Narrow hit box.

3: That isn't a valid weakness, that's idiocy.

Eedat33 votes
  1. Completely not true. It doesnt make sense to build damage on thresh because his ratios are terrible. His base damages are bad too. All Thresh does is provide utility to the team. If you're relying on Thresh's damage, you're in for a rough one.

  2. It is a narrow hit box. Funny how you didnt even attempt to address the other points

  3. Obvious joke is obvious

TurquoiseYoshi19 votes

1: And why do you need his damage? Does Janna need damage? Does Braum need damage? Does Alistar need damage?

I've been playing thresh recently, and this doesn't happen too often. If I don't land the hook directly on them it usually won't hit them. I've narrowly missed it several times and watched my hook fly by them. I think it has more to do with the specific champion hit boxes than his hook hit box.

Auroramancer1 votes

Yeah that video is rubbish, the guy pauses it before the hook goes the full distance.

At its full distance there, it in fact is close enough to snap onto Shaco. That's kind of how hitboxes work.

TurquoiseYoshi1 votes

I'm pretty sure most hitboxes don't have magnets in them. I play Blitz and Nid a pretty good amount, and I've never seen my skillshots snap onto enemies like how Thresh's does.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6btvVYoxOY

Auroramancer1 votes

"Snapping" is part of the animation.

It would look awkward if the hook was hanging on the side of someone's body while holding them in place.

Blitz and Nid don't need particle snapping for their skillshots because the total effect is instantaneous

TurquoiseYoshi2 votes

Snapping is, indeed, part of the animation. It would, indeed, look awkward if his hook just hung on the side of somebody's body. But it looks so much more awkward when his hook hitbox opens up at max range to hit things anywhere. It's insanely hard to dodge something when the skillshot you're trying to dodge has such a weird and uncommunicated hitbox.

I still have no idea what you're talking about. He does less damage that pretty much any other popular support right now. Low base damages and low scaling. His ult only deals damage to a single person too

Since you're not going to beleive me, have a look at the actual numbers

http://www.elophant.com/league-of-legends/champions/damage-dealt

His damage is literally on par with the healers

Janna, Nami, Sona and Leona can raise other people's damage though, so they contribute to the team's damage even if they aren't dealing it themselves. Thresh can't do that.

Regardless, he clearly isn't in the category of high damage supports Annie Karma Lulu Lux Morgana Zyra -- all of which can do their damage from much longer ranges than Thresh can.

Narasimha3 votes
  1. Play Sona sometime. She hurts in lane without even trying

  2. To be fair, it is fairly now. It just has some weird champion tracking thing too.

TurquoiseYoshi8 votes

1: Because she's a poke support. Thresh is an engage support.

2: You mean it magnetizes to anything in the nearby area. Such an important spell should not be so weird/awkward to dodge.

Supports aren't meant to have damage. That's why I think about dodging when someone picks Lux/Nidalee bot. Supports are meant to provide CC and help the team, which is why Thresh is the best support in the game.

Then why is he the most played support in all of League, including international competitive scenes? You're implying that if he can't ever land his hook he can't do much. But it just takes 1 hook to secure a kill, and it happens a couple of times a game.

Lantern is the best escape in the game making bot near ungankable, and not only that but can be used to turn fights around in a 3v2.

So many holes in this arguement

But it just takes 1 hook to secure a kill, and it happens a couple of times a game.

But it takes just 1 stun to secure a kill Annie

But it takes just 1 hook to secure a kill Blitzcrank

But it takes just 1 Pole to secure a kill Trundle

But it takes just 1 stun to secure a kill Leona

But it takes just 1 binding to secure a kill Morgana

But it takes just 1 snare to secure a kill Lux

You're literally arguing that Thresh is overpowered because he has a form of cc.

Don't list non-support champions (Trundle Lux), because that's not what's being discussed.

But out of all the champions you've listed, Thresh can do it the best while offering more. I never said Thresh is purely OP because of his Q. That just plays part in an overloaded kit that makes a champion OP. Blitz can't engage on a whole team with his QER, Leona can't turn fights around by bringing in another ally or saving one from being killed. Morgana can't afford to build tanky.

I apologize for claiming his lack of power, because that's wrong as well. His bases are absolutely ridiculous while being ranged as well, with innate tankiness.

Apart from sustain I can't think of something he can't bring over another support. He's the S3 Lee Sin of supports, he just does most things better than everyone else, and even when he can't, there's still so many reasons to pick him over someone else.

Eedat7 votes

Lux and Trundle both are decent supports no matter how much you rage over it item 3070 item 3070

I cant understand how you can claim his base damages are high when they just flat out aren't. Theres really no debating it

Thresh doesnt put out nearly as much CC as Morg, let alone the black shield. Morg can also build tanky if she wants and still offer all the same utility. Plus Morg's Q has 3 times the hitbox as a hook and theres no wind up time

Blitz is about pulling one target to his team to delete them. Just because he doesnt have the same playstyle as thresh doesn't mean its worse. Blitz hooks absolutely can force a team fight though as well.

A flash Tibbers from Annie can single handedly win a teamfight. Thresh can force a fight but could be suiciding in. Thresh doesnt offer the same instant lock down as an Annie does. People can dodge his skillshots pretty easily and jump out of his box. Literally the only hard CC thresh offers is 1 second of hook

Thresh doesnt offer the same innate tankiness as a Leona. Leona's kit also doesnt rely on her ability to land a single skill shot on specific members of the enemy team. She can still line up a decent ult even if the zenith blade misses. Leona offers 3 forms of hard CC as opposed to Thresh's one

But hey, you can take a look at stats too where he sits #15 amidst supports. If he's such freelo then why dont you use him to climb for free then? No?

Trundle is in fact a competitive Support.

Lux is also frequently played as a support

Is none going to mention the fact that trehsh donest look at the direction he is Qing at while casting the spell? Making it one of the hardest to predict and dodge skill shots in the game?

Yes he does.

  1. gets dumped on by any strong melee support in lane, braum/leona/trundle/etc

  2. no sustain

  3. reliant on hook skillshot to all in

  4. doesnt give you a supercarry like janna/nami/etc do

    • counters Leona - does well against Braum - nothing counters Trundle :[
  1. item 3302

  2. Which is easy as shit to land + he can all in by just walking up and using E as well then his Q is pretty much free.

  3. He does lel.

Eedat14 votes

he can all in by just walking up

by just walking up

Hate to tell you, but if you literally just let the enemy support walk up to you, you deserved that death

Penns7 votes

Its not that hard with item 3117 lol. And in lane you can either camp a bush + walk up and E if the enemy adc wants to cs or completely zone them even tho youre not even ahead. Just because youre Thresh and win basically every fight.

He does have weaknesses but he can play around all of them really well unlike many other champs...

  1. sorry but what? only bad Thresh's get dumped by Leona's and Braums

  2. He doesn't need sustain, he has a shield and he gets relic anyways which gives him more than enough sustain

  3. he doesn't need to all in, he can just sit back and peel and he will be just as effective

  4. Nami isn't a "super carry" and Janna isn't either. Janna gives you insane peel but that's about it.

learn the champion instead of posting stupid things

Not much, but you can zone him from his souls and make him lose his armor per level

Tails Doll2 votes

That's like the biggest "weakness" the guy has.

manbearswine2 votes

Except that he has a safety net where he starts picking them up from range if he falls behind.

I mean come on,you see the guy every fucking game, don't you see him collecting souls from half a screen across on occasion?

And yea, zone a guy with such an insane lockdown, that won't get you killed at all.

  • slow
  • easy to hit
  • very conditional mobility (easy to pick)
  • rather high windows of vulnerability
  • rather low influence on 5v5s ... Thresh is about the only balanced and fun to play against champ that Certainlyt ever made.
Sohleks2 votes

I've accepted Thresh for a while. Not so much anymore. His synergies with other "ridiculous champs" can be obnoxious.

Sorry but a champion with such potential should not be so willingly spammed by everybody. Something is wrong to be honest. If he was more niche he'd still be competitive.

Nerf lanturn range imo
