KS? Meh. CS Steal? You're dead to me.
Just played my first normal match with Draven. Ended up facing a Caitlyn, one of the last champions you want to see as a Draven. Even worse when the whole spinning axes thing is still nowhere near second nature to you. As expected, I played poorly, or at least had a really weak start. So I started trying to farm up so I at least wasn't levels behind everyone else. Only my entire team seemed determined to take all the farm for themselves. I mean, at one point Darius, who finished 21/4/4, was level 18 and he took over half of the wave that had built up near our top turret. This after I lost my cool earlier when he was doing the same thing. "No, you guys take ALL the CS. I don't need any." (Darius continues to do it) "Darius, go to ****ing hell." And shortly after that he had the gall to say "bot lane come on" when I was basically forced to go farm bot lane by myself to stay relevant, despite them needing help mid. It was either I go get some CS (and a turret, mind you) while I can or go give the enemy team another kill.
Even my support was stealing the occasional CS and, worse yet, throwing off my last hitting by Qing like 3-4 almost to death, resulting in us both missing that CS. She didn't even buy a gold income item either. Or a sight stone. Just built Annie like she was the ADC instead of me. She said it was her first Annie match in years... but also that she mains support. So that makes a ton of sense.
Anyway, there have been plenty of threads lately talking about how CS wins games, but I think we need to clarify that it doesn't when one person is hoarding all that gold, most of which they can't even spend in cases like this when Darius was probably near or at full build already. The only time I really "steal" a teammate's CS is when it's for the sake of securing an objective, such as pushing lane faster to take a turret while the enemies are down. But it seems like most of the people I play with are either allergic to CSing or they just think every minion they see belongs to them. There's very little inbetween and it drives me mad.
