Dynamic queue isn't bad. Dynamic queue in league of legends is bad.

Its alright in heroes of the storm. But in order to support that, heroes of the storm has to have a few differences with league of legends as a game, especially a tradeoff between how competitive the game is and how accessible it is to gropus of friends. Hots probably isn't as popular as league for just that reason, and in order for league of legends to support dynamic queue you have to wonder whether or not the balance, competitiveness and other subsystems that make league of legends what it is will have to change.

The cardinal sin of running any business is emulating your competitor's product when it is already less successful than your own.

RIOT is trying to make league of legends everyone's game. They are trying to make it casual, competitive, deep, easy to learn, fast, dynamic, strategic, action packed and so on and so on. It already has many of those qualities, and they can because most of those qualities aren't mutually exclusive with eachother. But I think that individual competitiveness can't really exist in a system where an individual can't measure his or her skill against other individuals.

People like to be able to see their grade against their peers, even in a team game. Casters in football still talk about the season accomplishments and value of individuals just as much if not more than they talk about actual teamwork. Players are valued according to how they measure against others.

Solo queue was a good way to measure individual skill, and probably the most accurate. But there are other, less accurate ways. Any measurement that is remotely accurate would be better than no measurement. Players don't like dynamic queue rating because they perceive that as a "no measurement"-- they don't trust it. We need other ways to measure individual skill. Competitions, like who can go the longest without missing a single cs, who pushed the hardest this week, and so on.

Unfortunately calculating some of these is kind of involved. Figuring out who pushed the hardest would require coming up with an equation that involves damage dealt to minions, towers, inhibitors, baron buffs and dragon buffs taken, buffs given to allies for the purpose of pushing a lane or tower, and so forth.

If the players don't have a measurement they can respect, they are likely to leave. Don't be naive and think it won't happen.

I actually had some scumstain trash talk me on the boards, talking about him being part of the diamond master race. Checked his match history for ranked games, every, single, game he was paired with the same 4 people, with a 85% winrate (17/20) games. Hm....curious.

"Bruh I picked Yasuo into your Darius and fed you 4 kills in 10 minutes but my duoQ buddy camped you all game and we ended up winning so you're trash"

Had this exact situation happen to me more than once

SoloQ was shit for individual skill but it was way better than what we have now. Last season if you fed you got flamed by your jungler, not camped. This sounds like an improvement but this only applies to people who play in premades.
