Thoughts on sightstone replacement

I've seen a few threads/rioters comments about it feeling bad to buy sightstone, and was thinking about it today and came up with the following. Buying a support item increases the ward cap (stored wards) by 1. Additionally, triggering gold generation effects (tribute and whatnot, probably not from bandit) would reduce the cd on trinket by X seconds, depending on supp item.

I feel like this would allow effective warding without a sightstone, and open up support itemization to allow for more supp item upgrades without them being super rare like FQC. Opinions on the idea?

Losing out on having both wards and a sweeper would be a pretty big blow to the support's ability to facilitate vision control. Also having your ward stock refresh every time you back is pretty massive. The later a game goes, the harder it is to proc your gold generation items so having those reduce cooldown would have the inverse effect of what you actually want in a game.

They would need to find some way to make up for the loss of sweepers, and possibly have backing reset your trinket cooldowns without making it an attractive option for junglers and laners.

The no supp having sweeper I feel would be almost a balance point, forcing non supports to buy them and meaning that support items don't spread out too far.

As far as returning to base, that's one I didn't think of. Perhaps after you complete your support quest, returning to base would max your wards. This would still provide an early cap on vision, and would allow for extended outings later. Another small tuning point would be having the cooldown reduction peer gold proc increase over time.
