How to deal with Lux mid?

Lux

I have come to the conclusion that, of all mid-laners, I have the hardest time fighting against Lux. I mean, I really hate seeing a Lux get picked. She has extreme range, good damage, and a shield. You can't trade with her in-lane because if she is out-of-range, well that's that. If she is close enough to harass, then she is close enough to auto-attack you after every one of her spells, and that does a lot of extra damage. FInally, since she has shield that applies twice, she usually will shield before trades, absorbing most of your initial and follow-up attacks.

What do you do vs her? I was actually shocked when she was buffed recently.

By way of champions that can deal with her, take people that can either outplay her, or match her range.

Fizz can dodge all of the things with his Troll Pole.

Ziggs and Xerath can throw all of their spells (except Xerath's stun) over minions and at long range, something which Lux's snare can't usually do. Velkoz is similarly effective, but much more difficult than Ziggs.

Malzahar can give her trouble, but it's a pretty high-stakes game of cat-and-mouse on this one. If she goes in for an Autoattack post-6, though, she's dead.

Zyra is basically the defensive version of Lux; Lux snares and rapes people who were passing her in the street, Zyra snares and rapes people who think they can engage on her/her team.

Zed and Akali have to be careful pre-6, but if Lux misses her snare after that, she's in deep trouble.

Brand is a powder keg of damage; if you get stuck in a Lux/Brand matchup, I'd recommend staying behind your minions.

Mordekaiser wins if the Lux is bad. Actually, he wins no matter who he's against, so long as they're either AD or bad.

Veigar is the god of burst, and as such, demands respect from any fool with less than 100 Magic Resist.

the best counter to lux is dodging its not easy but lux can easily starve herself out of mana if she wont hit

As a Lux main (I actually just posted a thread about possibly buffing her because of how easily she can be countered) I'd be happy to give you some pointers/things that can be difficult for a Lux to handle.

1.) Play to her cooldowns. Lux, especially very early, is EXTREMELY cooldown reliant. Depending on the champion you play, consider getting boots with alacrity to help you dodge/reduce the duration of her snares (merc treads work nicely). If you see her toss out a spell, and she misses it, - right after she misses it for about 10-13ish seconds she becomes extremely vulnerable. If you play a champion with a higher movespeed, take advantage of her extremely slow early MS.

2.) Fancy feet are required. Watch how she tosses her E, and learn to 'bait' the spell. Always stay behind 2 or more minions if you want complete protection, as her Q will snare two targets.

3.) Use your flash wisely. Flashing out of her ultimate can leave you with every one of her spells on cooldown, leaving her in the most vulnerable position possible - as she'd have, with no CDR, a full 10-13 seconds before she is able to hit you with another ability, - and the laser's CD is long without cdr.

4.) Keep an eye on your 'illumination' debuff. Not letting her autoattack you, or baiting her into a vulnerable position because she's trying to auto you can work to your advantage, and can be a definite play for you + a jungle to make a gank. Oftentimes as a Lux mid, I might overextend just to get the proc on the illumination debuff for extra damage, - but of course this often means I leave myself in a tricky position if the enemy jungler is nearby.

5.) MR and Zhonyas are your friend. Zhonyas can make a Lux ultimate worth absolutely nothing, and adding a bit of MR into your build (depending on the champion you play the build would vary) will make her spells a lot less effective - and force her to build items with penetration rather than pure damage, thereby potentially weakening her. If I see that a champion isn't building much MR aside from maybe an Athene's, - I oftentimes will build pure glass cannon and turn myself into an artillery gun.

The biggest points to master are number one and number two. Remember that her spells early leave her very vulnerable if she misses any of them. Being able to dodge and bait her is key, because she has very little MS - and if she is caught out of position, she is very vulnerable.

What do I do vs lux that just poke with singularities constantly, but don't try for all-in/full combos? The range on that spell is so vicious. Honestly, Singularity is the spell that does more to me than her root just because I feel powerless to last-hit or move in for fear of taking damage/being slowed/whatever.

It also seems like the Lux players who lead with singularity and use the slow to guarantee the root are the most dangerous for me.

Sorry for the late reply here. lol I realize this thread is 16 days old, but I might be able to shed some light (hue hue hue) on avoiding her E.

The key with the Singularity is to bait out this spell as much as possible. Lux has very high mana costs, coupled with high cooldowns in the early game. Making her think she can hit you with a spell while you dazzle on with fancy feet is the best way to render her useless. If you play champions with a strong engage spell, - try baiting out her Q and her E (if she can't hit you with one, she might try another if there is an opportunity), and once these spells are on cooldown, all she has is a shield and a laser. With no CDR, those spells leave you with about a 10 second window or so to poke her or totally destroy her. A good Lux is going to time her Q and E in the early game to be as evenly spaced out as possible in terms of when the cooldowns come up - because they are her only escapes other than summoner spells (flash). The laser is unlikely to come out, because if you time your engage to when those two spells are on CD (provided you weren't hit by either Q or E), the likelihood of her hitting you with the laser is low. She is going to want to hit you with the laser after she lights you up with the illumination debuff. Elsewise, a significant portion of the damage is wasted. Her shield is there to hopefully buy her enough time to waltz back to turret, - and it would be up to you at that point to try baiting these spells when you see that she has pushed up her lane and will have a hard time getting back to turret before you totally wreck.

Playing vs a Lux midlane is 95% dodging, and 5% building a little MR to take the bite out of her spells. Just remember to watch for those spells and remember that they have a fairly high cooldown to begin with.

Abuse her shitty cooldowns, telegraphed abilities and immobility.
