The Warwick Rework?

Bultz··2 votes·1,490 views

So Warwick finally looks amazing, his visual is finally what it should be, everything in his kit looks good, but my question is, does he have outplay potential? The whole point of the rework was to make him viable. His current kit only allowed him to be a one hit wonder where he would leap at someone and then have to depend on auto attacks for the whole fight. Does he finally have outplay potential or is this just more of the same useless kit he had which would fall off early mid game?

Pros: He's faster, still has ridiculous sustain, has a new short dash, and his blood scent gives him a direct pathway to the nearest enemy.

Cons: He lost the greatest team steroid in league history and his ultimate is now a blockable skillshot. I wonder if Yasuo's Windwall will count him as a projectile.

Fun fact - Yasuo's Windwall is programmed to redirect projectiles off map to a hidden unkillable minion. Because of this, this is why things like Orianna's ball stops at the Windwall instead of dissipating.

In regard to Warwick, he will be treated as dashing. Poppy will screw him up though.

Nah, his ult dash is CC immune.

Unstoppable. I think CC carries over still; ive had my ult fizzle out from being hit by bard, fiddles, and soraka CC while dashing.

That's almost worth testing just on the off-chance of seeing the "Mastery 8 Minion Lord".

Ok first of all old WW granted a 40% AS boost to allies for 6 seconds with rank 5 W. No where near the best team steroid. Get behind old Taric ult.

Second of all I don't have a second point. Out of curiosity do I already call it "old" WW? I mean he is still live, the changes are just PBE so I guess I should just say WW. Huh, food for thought eh?

Taric's old ultimate was fairly decent, but it wasn't on a 11 second cooldown like Warwicks W turns into. 80% AS for himself +40% for every teammate in its bigger range that stays up longer than it stays down. Paper Towers of today can't handle that kind of thing. Hell sturdy towers of old couldn't handle that kind of thing.

I'm also going to miss hitting 2.5 Attack Speed with Warwick with just the W, a Jungle item, and Berserker Boots. He loses a lot of raw power in exchange for movement speed and dashing utility. Only time will tell if it were worth it.

He can still hit 2.5 Attack Speed against 50% Health targets and DEFINITELY against 20% health targets.

SchmidttyGames1 votes

True, but he can't give that lovely 6 second beast mode to his allies anymore. A successful gank almost always led to a tower because of his W. It's the only part of his old kit I'll miss.

I'm sure the new Warwick will be vastly better overall. Old Warwick was a bore to play, basically farming until your ult was ready. I'm looking forward to seeing what the "pros" do with it. If his Ultimate can still get him over walls, they should have some exciting plays for us this year.

Taric could actually have a very short ult cd.

41.25-2 seconds for each auto after an ability.

So with one rotation of his kit that is -8 seconds. His kit rotation took roughly 4 seconds with autos. At 45% cdr he could perma use abilities + passive. That meant that every 4 seconds we take 8 extra seconds off his ult.

So his ult would be on a roughly 13 seconds CD. Lets be generous and say you aren't being perfect with casting and don't get all your aa's immediately. 15 seconds.

It lasted 10 seconds. That is a 66% uptime.

WW w has an 8.8 seconds CD with 45% cdr. With a 6 second duration it is just over Taric ult uptime at 68% uptime. Functionally though that is basically the same uptime.

WW's is more likely to come back up in a fight but Taric's lasts 4 seconds longer, meaning fewer refreshes needed. WW w did have an extra 150 range at 1250 compared to Taric's 1100.

Taric's ult was undoubtedly more powerful as it granted 11917.5 Gold worth of stats in AP and AD to his allies.

WW w grants 6000 Gold worth of stats in AS.

Both of these assume you are benefiting all 5 members. I also don't count how much they benefit individual members as they both have champs they do and don't synergize with. In other words Taric's ult provided almost 2X the stat > gold of WW w with almost the exact same amount of uptime assuming both build 45% cdr, which was core on Taric and not on WW.

He has tools now. Q is a lunge, and if it's not targeted, it can be an escape tool. His new Primal Howl is a damage reducer, which let's him last longer in scraps, and the second activation is a AOE fear, which offers him a chance to escape when shot hits the fan. All in all, they took his old kit and pretty much streamlined it and gave it the functionality it needs to make him a viable skirmisher.

His Q is indeed targeted. Its his ult that isnt.

Have you tried him or just read? Because currently all it took to stop him was item 3033 item 3075. He couldn't put up a fight against any other melee champions and all long range champions reaped him like nothing. So i'm a bit worried he will just be a useless rework.

Hes a diver, not a sustain tank like he was before. Warwicks job will be to push the snowball, flank, and clean up i think.

Yes, he has lots of outplay potential. His Q is a behind-the-target flash from melee range and both his ult dash and his Q have unstoppable. He is however still a VERY straight foreward "IMA RUN ATCHU" champion.

Fondling Gems1 votes

His ult is a skillshot so there is a lot of outplay there. It is going to be hard to do bush jukes but you can probably mess with him using teamates kinda like Rek'sai burrow. Could be interesting.

Other than that he is like any other AA champion with inbuilt healing. Guessing counterplay will be similar to Fiora since they both have short range dashes and healing. Fewer dashes though so can definitely be kited between cd's.

New Warwick, based on my first impression, DOES have some outplay potential. Not insane, but it's there. The big thing on him is his W, which provides absurd knowledge for his team.
