If you see your teammate making a game losing "play"

Do you try to assist them anyway and die, or let them screw up and lose anyway?

No, seriously, what do?

P.S. this can also apply to your own personal mistakes, but nobody likes thinking of a loss as their own fault. [slayer-jinx-wink]

If it's recoverable from even if they die, just let them die.

If you can't recover if they die, it won't matter so try regardless to shift the situation.

If you can turn it around with help regardless if they die, then do it.

As a support main with an ADC duo, I found that my support style was overly aggressive for most ADCs and my own partner. Eventually I realized that with each new ADC I play with... I have to play to the ADCs strengths and hope he can follow through properly.

I dont know how many times I could count where the ADC was so overly passive about laning, leaving the support (me) wide open for anything.

When it happens NOW, I just stay behind my ADC and try to keep em alive as much as possible. If my ADC is just feeding at that point I usually just keep warding, playing safe and hoping to god your team fight will be good enough to carry on....

Im sure back in my starting days(s2) with support I was awful. Thinking that a support is a secondary mage... and its not. With my main Janna, the ADC almost never dies now unless its just due to sheer inexperience.

The correct action is to stand just out of range, spamming annoying emotes and unhelpful /joke and /laughs, and then spamming the "?" ping after they die.

For bonus points type 'this (insert champion)' in all chat.

Don't actually do this.

In my opinion, it is better to join your teammate because you can accomplish more as a team. If there's some stupid Baron call and your team starts it when your base is in timbers, then it's better to join in anyways because you won't be able to defend your own base alone if your team dies. If on the other hand by surviving you can keep the game going, then by all means let your team die.

If it's a baron or dragon call, that you think will fail, just follow the call. It's better to stand united and maybe your team can pull of a miracle and win the teamfight. If your teammate get caught or engages 3v5, just let him die.

Well, if it's a 2v5 and your teammate jumps in to make it a 3v5, I'd join in to make it a 4v5 and try to pull something outta my ass, even though it's not in our odds. But if they just jump in solo and expect you to follow them into a 4v5, then no.
