As Lux or Karma I'll generally take out the three caster minions to bump up my gold since I can just take them out real easy. No one's complained about this so far, but i'm wondering if I'm gimping my team while doing this?

Your carry will be gold starved later, and judging from the way you said, "I can just take them out real easy," you're probably perma shoving your wave and making yourself susceptible to ganks.

Yes if the carry (or anyone else) isn't going to be nearby for it. Yes if the wave just needs to be cleared quickly. Yes if you're just trying to push (at which point it doesn't matter).
Typically, though, no. The gold usually should go to the other players if you're support, if possible. You have ways to make gold without CS, and you aren't as gold-reliant.

don't listen to them, they know shit, if you're solo on lane while the adc is afk'ing in the base waiting 50 gold for i don't know what item, clear the wave, don't let any minion dmg the turret at its fullest, you'll lose the Turret for what? 'cause adc wasnt there farming? give me a break Defending > your retarded adc afk'ing for an item if anyone disagrees they know shit.

When my ADC bases and a wave is heading for the turret. I take the melees and try to hold the ranged minions outside of the tower for my ADC.
When a large wave is pushing a turret late game and I have enough waveclear to stop it happening.
When Super Minions are in a lane or in our base. Super Minions are more vulnerable to Magic Damage.

as a support your income should primarily come from your income item, objective captures, and assists.
gold per second is typically limited in a normal match. so you need to consider that when you're clearing minions.
if no one else is clearing them then it's fine. but there's a reason why blue income item doesnt grant both gold for minions and for poking.

i know that. that's what i'm saying. the question of "merh merh merh is it okay for me to take cs merh merh merh" doesnt specifically state the scenario. because for example if you're using the green income item then you can take cs at 3 minutes in and it wont hurt anyone. and with yellow income it's a craps shoot. I know this because I get my item quest completed by 5-7 minutes most games, but relic shield is locked in how fast you get it and slightly random. only the blue one can you take the wheel and force it to be completed early on.
if i'm to assume the player always takes blue item and then is talking about 20 minutes into the game then there are a lot of scenarios where it would be okay for the player to do whatever they want. for example if they're solo in lane with no one pushing for them then yes. farm away.
suprakirby1 votesYea, OP is not telling everything. You're totally right. It seems that people are less likely to be annoyed by the Targon support that take CS because of the gold share mechanic.
AggressiveCheeto1 votesI say do it, most of the time a carry will miss farm or miss a kill then blame you for it or if you peal for them and both of you die because the carry wanted to stick around you get blamed for that to. At the end of the day if there not good enough to follow up with you then a few minions is not the reason they are loseing.

The wave will slow push towards the enemy, building a super wave as it goes. That gives you pressure to group up mid and siege, which works especially well on Lux and Karma.

That's if your team can put the pressure on in other lanes at the same time. If you are the ones being pressured and a lane is slow pushing it will just take valuable cs from your team and get the other team a big chunk of gold when they farm it.
Ratpie1 votesI typically just last hit and hold a wave if the adc is not in lane as those will be dead before the adc even gets there and it saves an early tower take. Just don't push. If it is later in the game after laning, then you probably shouldn't be in a lane all by yourself anyway. At that point there are too many champs that can tower dive you, and if you are not near anyone else then you are probably about to miss out on a team fight.

Your team is busy in other lanes/recalling? Feel free to last hit all you want. If it's past 20 min and no one is coming at all you can even nuke the wave. By that point in time lane phase is over.
Alzon1 votesLearn how to manage a minion wave, such as how and when to freeze or push. Your goal is to get your ADC as much CS as possible, while denying the enemy ADC as much CS as possible. I can guarantee your ADC will love you if he comes back to lane with a giant wave frozen just outside of your tower’s range (unless he’s too preoccupied with how you had to take some CS to get it there zzzz).
HommeGoujon1 votesTake all the gold you can whenever you can it's solo Q, you playing solo vs 9 other players, u need to be merciless and fight for your own survival and welfare if your "teammates" want the gold, they'll take the minions. You need the gold to get that juicy Rabadon anyway ;)
