I swear, if Malzahar changes are not in the preseason patch.

Ok. I really, really, REALLY want Malzahar back in the Mid Lane right now. And it's not because I main him (currently a Vladimir main, mailed Malzahar in Season 6 ranked pre rework). It's because I watched this video out of pure nostalgia.

I'm still low elo. Just don't play enough, my winrates positive but it's a slow climb because I can only play once a week. However, I just saw this video and thought "Damn, Malzahar back then sure was fun." Sure, he wasn't fun to play against (Point and click suppression OP), however comparing old Malzahar to new just makes me sad.

I can only voice my stupid, Vladimir main opinion on this, however I feel like Riot made Malzahar more unfun, yet less fun to play against at the same time.

The passive is very FRUSTRATING to play against. It's a free Banshee's Veil, and the safety it provides is just ridiculous. CC immunity should be given very, VERY sparingly. Otherwise we end up with things like Rengar and the current state of Malzahar.

Now I look at the Ult. The Ult is a point and click, no counterplay besides a CC cleanse of your own or by buildings item 3140. Nether Grasp, in hindsight, was probably the most frustrating part of Malzahar's kit. Now I'm probably looking at it with rose-tinted glasses, however a point and click, Instant 2.5 second suppression is impossible to play against unless you have item 3140 or a built in cleanse effect, in which case Malzahar has no recourse. However, this is one part of the kit that Riot brought MINIMAL changes to in terms of its utility.

He's played support because his Ult and passive are just too good and his damage has been lowered on what us

This is rant, however, I would like to point out one last thing. In this video, and in most Malzahar guides from that time, we are told to max E. Nowadays, many people just Max W first, what used to be his Weakest ability, and max E last. His most iconic ability, Space AIDS, has taken so many nerfs that it is now it's the worst thing in his kit.

I am not asking for reverts, however I think that giving power back to his E, making his passive less frustrating to play against (yes it's been nerfed, however you get the thing by just playing passive), changing his ult, and giving him higher AP ratios on his E and his Q will be nice.

His E hasn't been touched at all since his update. His passive and W, and base stats have been nerfed repeatedly.

Sorry but QSS renders Malzahar completely useless at high ELO.

Any high ELO Midlaner / Toplaner / ADC can turret dive at level 6 and kill him with no worries once they make that QSS purchase. They just need to tank the 1 or 2 turret hits.

Around level 7 to 8, it becomes a joke how easy it is to kill him.

His whole kit is weak now compared to the damage output of other champs ... its laughable.

I was playing against a syndra who simply stuns + ults and killed me with full HP (without ignite). If I tried something like that it would be a complete waste. These days, I need my opponent to be down to maybe 1/4 HP in order to get a kill at level 6. And I would need all my spells up to pull it off.

And yes, the old Malz if you activated QSS it would break the ONLY the CC, the damage would continue until the tether broke from too much distance or spell ended. After the rework, QSS breaks both the CC and any damage from the Tether/channel.

Its basically as if you casted your ult on someone with Banshee Veil up... (useless).

And anyone can buy QSS too. It effectively nullifies Malzahar as a competitor at higher ELOs
