The balance team really don't know what they are doing...

They buffed Master Yi, Rengar and Irelia this patch. I don't really care about the Rengar buff much but why the fuck would you buff Yi and Irelia?

People have been complaining about Yi for a while. He lacks efficent counterplay, the only proper counterplay to him is hard CC him or hope he fucks up. Building armor is useless because built in true damage on hit, Rageblade and Conqueror. Now you buffed up his heal and damage reduction more? Are you serious?

Irelia didn't need a buff because she can kill minions easily while jumping around like a crazy bitch all over the place, but you still gave her more mobility. Isn't it enough that she has a 200+ attack range for a melee champion? Facing Irelia as a melee champion is horrible as she just AA harasses you withour being able to retaliate. People can carry with the nerfed Irslia on 8.16. Bjergsen carried with a nerfed Irelia, hell he even got a penta. But apparently Irelia was too weak so they buffed her mobiliry. Imo she should have been nerfed again. She is a serious annoyance in solo queue and competitive. Even if you gut this champion she'll still be a problem.

And lastly, our good friend Stormrazor. Nerfed again this patch but it won't stay like that for long. Guess what the balance team will do to this item next patch? If you said buff, then you are correct. Buff, nerf, buff, nerf, buff... you get the idea. What a complete joke of a item. Just delete it please.

  • Lets start with his biggest weakness. Unlike 95% of the entire champion roster, he is completely useless without his ult. To make matters worse, it's CD isn't reduced by ability level and his most effective builds don't include CDR. In other words, Yi is actually ineffective for long stretches of time between ults with no good options to decrease that window.

  • His entire kit requires him to ALWAYS commit to a fight or skirmish. It means basically, that again, unlike 95% of the champion roster, Yi has no form of harass. Any damage he does to a champion means he must be committed to killing that champion.

  • His most effective builds don't include any form or durability for most of the game. Combined with his need to commit to a fight, it means Yi players are always risking death when they decide to take a fight even when super fed. A lot of other champions can take huge risks when super fed and be relatively certain they will come out on top.

  • He has no utility whatsoever. No slows, no roots, no stuns, no damage amp debuffs, nothing that can help his team. All Yi has is damage, damage and more damage. What this means is that yet again, unlike 95% of champions, if Yi is not fed, he is completely useless since his thing is doing damage and nothing else. Even Zed has a slow and Yasuo has a knock-up. A well placed W+E from Zed can slow an entire team so even a feeding Zed can be more useful than a feeding Yi.

None of this is to say that Yi is weak. It is to say that Yi does take a fair amount of skill(or perhaps just common sense) to do well with. He is not a super braindead easy champion like Garen where you just smash buttons and get fed. You do that with Yi and you will just feed your ass off.

Yi is buffed on his W (a buff to an otherwise rather useless ability save for a couple specific situations), which is far less relevant than something like Rengar's ulti buff that makes him snowball harder with more ulti casts in mid-game. Not sure why you would ignore Rengar's buff in favour of Yi's.

After3perma3 votes

Your team dumps all hard CC to kill Yi but he survives. Now what, he is sat there using W to heal back the majority of his health he has lost while also wasting time for his cooldowns to come back and your team with no more hard CC left, is trying to kill him while your adc deals 70% less damage because of built in damage reduction.

I ignored Rengar's buff because he can one shot regardless after he purchases Duskblade. Rengar ultimate without Duskblade actually doesn't deal that much damage.

If your entire team can't kill an ever squishy Yi with chain CC and focus even when he isn't channeling his W (and even if he is, it's interruptable by basically anything that's not a slow), then you deserve the loss. You might complain that "what if he uses Q to dodge CC?" well use champs with hard CCs that have no travel time like Lulu's polymorph, Ryze's root etc where he can not dodge no matter what with his kit; or just you know, don't just panic and dump all of your best CCs and all of them from the entire team all at once the instant you see him?

It isn't any different to any champs surviving the encounter, going to the side to leech back their HP with lifesteal or whatever their source of healing and coming back for round 2. There is no reason to just nerf Yi because he is able to get his health back after he manages to survive a fight.

Also, Yi at most heals about 930 damage from his W. Before you say anything, let's break it down: That number is IF he has W maxed which would mean he is already level 18 since Yi always level W last, that he has a Rageblade (or else it's 880) which is typically the only source of AP in his build, that he fully cast W over the course of 4 seconds and not get interrupted once (which again, can be done so by basically anything that's not a slow), and if he has to have literally ZERO HP at the time to get the max healing from (the minimum full channel at max level gets a base of 440 heal if Yi is max HP, which is tiny in the level 18 stage we're talking about here). Let's just say it's not that big of a deal, he generally can lifesteal to a far better result at that point of full build.

....

Also, Rengar 1shots with his ulti regardless of whether or not he has Duskblade given he can still chain-Qs if he has the memo. It's just a matter of doing the 1shot either the instant he jumps onto you or over the course of 1 to 2 or so seconds.

so basically perma use 1-2 champs cause what if enemy team will have a yi? thats lame design and should be changed

What did I even say to be interpreted as implying such a thing.

And it's not like Yi is such a big deal even to most players https://lolalytics.com/ranked/worldwide/platinum/plus/champion/MasterYi/graphs/

Yi is only actually doing super well in Bronze, doing average in Silver, and bad everywhere else.

Not sure what's the concern here about Yi is, since it would appear even Silver players (the division with the largest amount of players) are coping with him just fine.

Meanwhile, Rengar

https://lolalytics.com/ranked/worldwide/platinum/plus/champion/Rengar/graphs/

Now, that's what we call a big deal. Mostly because his elo actually gets better the higher elo he goes. I guess it kind of makes sense, since his chain Q exploit is kind of hard to pull, and there is really nothing you can do about it once they actually learn to do it (Riot tried to stop it a couple times, but they just stopped).

........

EDIT: If you're thinking that because I only mentioned 2 direct counters to Yi, there are only 2 champs in the game that counters him? Err... no, most junglers actually counter Yi. You got Udyr who can just right click to stun Yi and own him at literally every stages of the game. You got Jax his dick spinning is near impossible to bait for a Yi and he just get stunned and checked to death. You got Rammus who can well, taunt Yi with no way to dodge it and the more fed Yi is the faster he dies at the hand of a Rammus. You got someone like Vi who Yi either has to dodge the CC or the burst but never both at the same time and he's get owned either way anyway. You got someone like Sejuani or Zac who are full of CC and you can't possibly dodge more than 1 of them as Yi. etc etc. Yi is really not nearly as that big of a deal as some would make him out as.

People have been complaining about Yi for a while.

It doesn't mean Yi is overpowered right now. In fact, the buff is almost non-noticeable. It doesn't make yi more pleasurable to play against for unskilled players and it doesn't make him strong at higher elo.

it doesnt matter , it still should be changed to something where you have a chance to do anything about yi without insta mass cc and dmg

Why? Yi is a piece of shit which hardly poses any issue in a decent game.

That data is only for 26,500 matches over the last 2 days. Hover the box next to his name. Currently it says 48.1%, not 45 like you wrote above, so yeah. It also has him at a 12% ban rate.

The patch hit this morning right? lolaltyics has him at a 17% ban rate for 8.17, 51% win rate, 17% ban rate.

Dude as for Irelia , why don't you just get it that she has a new skin this patch and they want it to sell ?

SanKakU1 votes

Didn't they type in the context something like. "Um, we're not sure how to nerf Rengar, so we're just going to buff him instead LOL" or am I imagining it?

We want to help Rengar feel powerful, but we're also trying to tone down upfront damage in League overall. Because of this, we’re giving Rengar more chances to surprise his opponents rather than boosting his damage when he does.

This reminds me of when they buffed some assassin I don't remember who, maybe it was Ekko and everyone was joking about how that sentence could be applied to literally any other champ as a bizarre excuse for the balance decision.

We want to help Jhin feel powerful, but we're also trying to tone down upfront damage in League overall. Because of this, we’re giving Jhin more chances to trap his opponents rather than boosting his damage when he does.

Would read something like a buff to his E/W so he could be a monster trapper/assassin/mage, imagine this would happen after Mage/Assassin Jhin already became meta. Kind of like how people are complaining that Assassin Rengar is meta.

And now they're nerfing Braum, a character who no one has talked about in forever, a mediocre pick at best, but hes good vs Alistar and Meddler mains AListar so hes gotta get nerfed now.

F Ù Ń1 votes

Hey, let’s just excuse the balance team’s terrible changes, and remember, the balance team looks at the statistics of a patch, and will try to balance and nerf respectively, and listen to players realistically. After the huge Assasin nerf, I guess the duskblade buff/nerf was compensation for the mass loss of dmg to assasins. Some characters rely on Duskblade to carry a game, or even be viable. Not to mention most of the balance team is gamers themselves. They go through the same thing that we feel, nerf other champs, buff my champ. I mean, that pretty much defines the reason why Yasuo hasn’t been nerfed yet. But then there are truly broken characters.Yasuo Other champs have been broken at one point, and got nerfed into oblivion.Yet Yasuo remained broken, got nerfed, then reverted, and even more broken then before, and is now getting buffs for some reason. That part I don’t understand from the balance team. There are over 5 million League players, and every patch Riot makes is literally handling fire. If you worked at the balance team, I betcha you’d be making these changes. Downvote me if you will, that will just prove my point
