On the topic of Smite and Players....

So, as everyone knows, with the new patch that just rolled out, Riot introduced a wide array of new Jungle Items and made a few interesting tweaks to the jungle. But, theres a couple things I'd like to cover in this thread that are making the update "Less than satisfactory" for myself.

My first complaint is obviously what the thread entails. The New Smite only has one way of describing itself and thats this: Drastically Overpowered. I am finding that all the sudden, Smite is getting replaced as a streamline spell for quite a few roles. Top laners use it to slow their laner and gain the advantage in lane. AD mid laners use it to pull out tons of true damage they can use to pull off a kill. Supports use it as a way to deal damage repeatedly to the enemy ADC and slow them down from escaping. Since when, did smite become a laners spell instead of a junglers spell? And that brings me to my next point.

With the patch, you introduced items that you said would heavily benefit every type of jungler. However, theres a slight flaw. You made these items and suddenly now its MUCH harder to jungle, to the point where favorite junglers of mine and others are suddenly just thrown of the grid because they just can't jungle. With this single update, you made the previous update that focused on "tank" junglers seemingly worthless. People are finding it near impossible to play Malphite or Nautilus jungle because they just simply don't clear fast enough; and then when they do gank, they're introduced by another problem: If they die, they're set behind for the rest of the game.

When people start league, they can't be introduced to stuff like this. A person new to league would like to learn the new jungle without having to jeopardize their team because they're horrible at it, but overall, the new jungle is just not noob-friendly, and nor is the new smite. I decided to jungle my first game after the update release and instantly got introduced to a team with 5 smites, and every single time I would go to get a buff, they could steal it or kill me because of the combined True Damage of all the smites.

Something has to be put in place for everything to even out. Only one person per a team should have smite, and the person that has smite shouldn't have to go set junglers because they're the only people who can currently jungler. People like variety, but what people don't like is massive change. We can deal with a few damage tweaks and an occasional rework, but when you suddenly throw a bunch of champions and people out of their preferred zone, your going too far.

Edit: Sorry, I was thinking about the wrong jungler. Apparently in my head Naut and Mao are the same person. (facepalm)

if they start off with a jungle item in lane and you lose its cause your bad end of story /thread

Generally these people don't buy the item straight off, they'll still generally buy their first item and then buy the jungler item.

Although I retract my comment that I had previously posted, I find this specific post funny as hell to look back at based on how the meta is now. xD

I main Maokai, and I can tell you, I'm pulling level 3 ganks with double buffs at 80% health. (On level 3's). The clear time is fine and Maokai has the sustain to do it. In fact, I usually don't end up backing until about level 5 or so because Maokai's early game jungle is EXTRAORDINARILY successful.

Yeah, that was my bad. I had just woken up and played a game when I created the post, apparently I wasn't quite awake yet. >.<

Jungling has never been noob friendly.

I find I didn't have any problem clearing with Maokai.

It does seem that Skirmisher's smite is strong enough that some laners will consider picking it up, kind of like League of Targon's. They'll fix it.

It never was noob-friendly, sure, but atleast previously it was noob friendly enough that for new players it was somewhat manageable.

The new jungle is meant to be harder to force jungles to choose, either you farm hard, or you gank hard, you can't have it both ways anymore. If you farm hard, you may need to back once early, but once you get rolling you'll find you can farm just fine. Gank heavy jungles won't take much of their jungle, they will be forced to pull off successful ganks if they want their reward. No more fail gank, farm a camp, gank again two minutes later.

As for champs taking smite into lane, just wait, it won't take long for people to see it's just not efficient enough.
