As a jungler how do you keep your cs up?

My current elo: Gold.

I have been watching Nightblue3 on and off and been trying to improve my jungle skills. I swear pros say as a jungle they look for 6 cs/min. I have been maining Elise and although I am not trying to play at a challenger level I would like to play better. I just don't get how to gank lanes while also farming at a high cs level. I have been working on my jungle camp rotations but it just seems like a lot of games there are plenty of opportunities to gank or teammates asking for ganks and I spend a lot of time running to objectives or ganks rather than farming my jungle. It just about planning to hit your top camps before ganking top/mid and your bottom camps before ganking mid/bot?

Just looking for some high elo advice.

Thanks.

Honestly, lane tax. If you get a kill from a gank good, if not, lane tax. Take just 1-3 minions, be ready for people that don't understand why to flame you for it though. IMO it's a legit practice that helps the game overall by keeping you either on-par or ahead in gold vs the enemy team.

If you gank a lane and get a kill, then help your laner shove the wave into the enemy turret to reset the wave and deny the enemy the experience of those minions. If your top laner has managed to freeze the lane under the enemy turret or on the enemy side of the lane, then go to their lane and help them reset the wave. This will give you cs and help prevent your teammate from dying to a gank. If your teammate died in lane or backed, and you're nearby then go to their lane and catch the wave that the enemy will be shoving into your tower. If you're not ganking or warding, then you should be farming your jungle. If you see the enemy show on the opposite side of the map, then go into the enemy jungle and steal all the camps and ward, then go back to your jungle and get your camps.

Generally, you can't get that from just farming your jungle if you are ganking lanes. You just have to know when you can take minions from a lane without causing any issues.

Good opportunities are:

  • When your ally has died, backed or is roaming
  • When you get a kill in the lane (shoving into tower to deny minions). Often, your ally will back after one wave so you can clear the next wave to ensure a full reset and maximum denial.
  • Clearing minion waves mid-game after outer towers have fallen (to apply pressure/split-push).

For the record, Nightblue says 6 cs/min. 60 cs/ 120 minutes.

It's possible in the jungle from junglers like Nidalee, but other than that, it's not very possible solely from the jungle. Others here, however, have given you tips.
