Is there any elo where players stop saying "if you don't gank my lane I will go afk". I was really hoping that was something that was only seen in silver and bronze, but I realize now I am probably mistaken.

I had a Jax top lane vs a Teemo yesterday. Yea I get it... this is a crappy match up for your mr. Jax. I was farming my jungle when I would continue get "come assist me" pings from jax or him in chat "free gank top". I would look at to be honest there was probably some open opportunities to gank top. But the thought of ganking teemo especially after he was 6 was a big turnoff. I kept watching top lane but opportunities presented themselves mid and bot so I focused those lanes. Jax started feeding top and the pings started increasing. Eventually Jax said "if you don't gank top I will afk".

Now look..... I am no pro. I know that, but I don't take kind to that sort of behavior. That shit is some bs that I will just not tolerate. i basically called him boosted, told him to stfu and muted him. I also decided that I am definitely not ganking top now. Now you are probably thinking "damn dude your a dick" but hear me out. Teemo was now 4-0 and the only ap champion on the enemy team. I was somewhat fed, along with my mid and bot lane getting ahead. As long as teemo was not pushing too hard on our turrets then figured I would just avoid top lane and continue to farm and help the others and focus dragons. I also thought "well if jax afks then we might lose but w/e he's boosted and needs this win more than I do and maybe with all of the reports he will get banned". Anyways I called his bluff and guess what..... scrub lord didn't leave and we ended up winning the game fairly easily.

My personally philosophy is not to give into these noob bluff tactics. Maybe one day the kid realizes if he just stfus, plays safer and waits for mid to late game he can still easily win the game.

Not sure how other people handle players like this. But It would be nice to know there is a elo somewhere this crap stops, although with dynamic queue now it probably even happens in diamond.

Fair point. I am naive and think higher rank generally means more mature. I know I am wrong in thinking this though.

Yeah, it happens in Diamond elo.

However, consider this: if Jax doesn't get ahead early, he will be irrelevant all game. Some champions need some baby sitting to do their job properly. In this case, Teemo can split push and Jax can't match it. He was probably frustrated that he needed the baby sitting to do his job properly, but without it, he's useless all game. The Teemo is going to be pushing up, making it an easy gank. You guys could have probably beat him in a 2v1. After that, Jax is snowballed. He got the baby sitting he needed.

Or, you know, he could've been a tool, and he just wanted the jungler to win his lane for him.

I think you are right and it is why he originally wanted me to gank. I usually try to gank top or mid to start, but I was playing JarvanIV and my starting jungle clear is pretty weak. (My as in me not j4 haha I realized yesterday I was having a really hard time clearing jungle so was behind to start. I need to practice my first clear more). So when I looked to gank either jax or I or both of us was fairly low and I was nervous. Which is why I stuck to farming jungle to try and catch up in level. Understandably Jax probably did not realize this.

I usually don't lose my cool but I just get really sick when people continuously ping the jungler and start making threats. I noticed the enemy team was all ad except teemo, and when teemo was 3-0 or 4-0 I was really nervous at how much ap damage he was going to do. Turns out teemo built item 3022 and then attack speed so I was really not nervous about late game since I planned on building straight armor.

I was actually getting ready to gank top when he threw out the "if you don't gank top I will afk" line. So I just turned around and started farming. Probably not the best move but it is what I decided to do.

Personally my worst lane is top lane. So when I play top I am almost always extremely passive and farm under turret. Even though the enemy is pushed to turret I generally hardly get ganks. It does tilt me and frustrate me especially if the enemy jungle keeps ganking top. I will ping for help if I am afraid I will be ganked but I don't spam chat about it.

The major factor I considered was the enemy jungler was not ganking top. So it was not like jax was being 2v1 tower dove over and over again, which could have led to some counter ganking kills. Most of the time when heading top I would see the enemy junlger heading for mid or bot and I would help follow up with a counter gank.

Jax probably should've played differently. I don't know what your elo is, but most people in high Platinum tend to get the idea of how to get a successful gank from your jungler. Prep the wave. Call summoners. Don't be chunked.

If you're not able to baby sit a laner before they're 0/2, don't even bother. It's not worth it, because the amount of resources you'd have to put into it to get a win condition out of it, is more than putting those same resources into another lane. There's an interesting segment in this video about what we're talking about. The analyst calls it an "escort service." It's at 46m in.

I am pretty low elo currently gold 5. Thanks for the video link I will check it out later tonight. Part of this post was to try and figure out if I was thinking the situation through correctly. My whole goal since starting ranked was to get gold. Now that I have made it, I am just enjoying learning more about the game. So I really do appreciate any advice I get. Thanks again for the video and the responses.

YouTubers like Redmercy, Phylol, Foxdrop, and the like, try to be educational, but to be honest, it's mostly entertainment. People want to feel like they're improving at League, and they also want to be entertained. The mileage you get out of these YouTubers really doesn't stretch for how much you put into it. Try SoloRenektonOnly. He has a lot of wave management tutorials that you won't find somewhere else.

The Majority of players are kids that need assistance every-time. Here's an example myself Jhin withMorgana dealt with aggressive bot lane Caitlyn Leona yet our JG was Fiddlesticks Opposing JgNocturne (Great Counter), yet we got no Ganks @ All, first tower to go down when Fiddlesticks was 0-4. Pretty pathetic game when i buying the wards & our Jg if so fucked.

Yea that is a tough situation. Toxicity in chat does not make it easier. I am accustomed to situations like that but when teammates start spamming "I am going afk" then I get tilted. I just don't understand how going afk or saying you are going afk helps your chances of winning at tall. Obviously it doesn't but it doesn't make losing any better either.

Similar thing happened to me once aatrox top vs teemo I was vi so can't do much against teemo early as aatrox don't even had demage at that time so decided to tell him farm safe nice and easy under turrets but he decided to hide in jungle I mean wtf dude teemo got 3 lvl above you by 12 minutes but our soraka was kinda helping person so she decided to switch with him as we have snowballed bot outta control along with mid and we had a fed veigar and caitlyn, soraka kept teemo there engaged while we pushed mid and bot with subsequent victory so you can ask a ranged champ to switch as it's better to get less gold rather than getting no gold neither xp and on top of that feeding (btw aatrox went 0/9 end of game)

You probably could have handled the example situation a bit better - but I get where you are coming from.

What it basically comes down to is that Jungler is a position with an unreasonable amount of demand on the player. You have to be sure to farm the jungle or fall incredibly behind, you need to help winning lanes to keep them ahead, and try and pick up the slack for the player who is behind or has a bad match up.

You seem to know this, but the issue comes down to -

If a player is losing and not getting help from Jungle, no matter how justified you are in your priorities, they will only see their rising death score and blame you. Its just the nature of frustration. If you can spare the time, try to simply respond (so they know you see them) with something like "bot needs help too, and I can't do both right now" "Kind of behind, need to farm up" "your lane is really ahead, if I attempt a gank, will likely feed them worse" and follow up with encouragement or suggestion, "Play safe, I will be there as soon as I can" "Go ahead and take a couple camps, you cant farm safely right now" etc.

True, you can't always babysit, and especially cant type all that out at your leisure, but some level of communication usually helps to lower tensions.

I have grown accustomed to being blamed as a jungler. It comes with the role. I am fine with admitting my mistakes as its the only way to get better. I just get really annoyed when people talk about going afk or spamming max number of pings over & over again. I just decided awhile ago that I am done taking shit from kids in this game. If you going to flame me, I will mute you. If you say you are going to go afk then go afk, but stfu about it because I and most likely the rest of the team don't care. If you need help then ask, but don't act immature about it.

Luckily most of the time my teammates have seemed pretty leveled headed lately and usually its only one bad egg that the rest of the team ignores. Have won a lot of games this season doing that.

I was probably a little extra angry about it because a game or two before that one I had a vayne say a similar thing. We were behind early and after she died for like the 6th time just said "im done gg..... I am going afk". I just laughed and say why..... we still have this game. Then 10-15 mins later we ace the enemy team and end the game for the victory. Don't know why people just can't chill out a little. Shout out to my mid Karthus that game. Dude had a clutch flash slow play at the end that helped setup the team Ace and victory. The vayne that complaining and talking about going afk got a Quadra kill in that fight. Pays to stick around (so happy I killed the other member so they didn't the penta. screw em haha).

Just /mute all if you are playing supp or jungle in ranked, it's never worth it. Think about it, the game is all 11 year olds and weird virgins, not anyone worth talking to anyway.

lmfao well you do make a good point. I usually just mute people if they start saying things that are not helpful. But I like to give my teammates the benefit of the doubt first. It seems like most of the time people just mention when enemies use summoners or when dragon or baron up, but then some games there is a flammer.

My experience is that if toxic chat tilts you for any reason mute all is always more fun. If you enjoy toxic chat and it pumps you up then maybe mute all is not for you.

Some dirt bag blaming me in ranked when its not my fault tilts me off the rails, so does the enemy tank talking shit to get more people to hit him and they do it. Mute all works best for me in ranked.
