actually kayn's still quite mediocre early

and his shadow form is pretty decent

but yeah red form is fucking brutally stronk. i've straightup had like 27:1 KDAs on rhaast and usually like 3:1 or 3.50:1 on shadow form.

I'd be totally cool with rhaast getting a bit of tuning down so long as they dont gut base kayn or shadow form alongside it.

the biggest issue i have with that is kayn is supposed to have a weak early game.. but he is completely invulnerable to invades becuase of his shadow step as well as having a dash that gets him through walls even if that is on cooldown.

he can still very easily 1v1 squishy junglers. even those who have strong early games.

"weak" early game means u can take advantage of it BEFORE he becomes oppressive.. with kayn... you really CAN'T. therefore i can hardly call it "weak".

He's safe, but he also can't do jack shit if you're any kind of jungler with the ability to skirmish or invade. Just take all his camps out from under him, and if his team tries to collapse just bail out

set him so behind on farm he cant get cleaver/duskblade until like 7 mins past when he should be, and then bam he's out of the game as a lategame champ

still has a good knockup on rhaast but you can just jump him and then hes gone.

A really good Kayn can be really nasty early game. He doesn't really excel at dueling, in fact from my experiences he loses in most 1v1 matchups, however he makes it up with his exceptionally cheeky kit, which was designed to clear the jungle fast. As long as he doesn't get caught by the enemy jungler, he will be ganking and taking your jungle. He can be really oppressive due to his excellent mobility and clear.

His shadow form is a niche pick, because the team usually needs another bruiser/tank rather than another assassin. However, his shadow form is the best pick if the enemy is full of squishies and/or your team lacks damage. Not to mention that his shadow form is both a really good assassin and a really good splitpusher.

Rhaast still has the vulnerability of being focused. Unlike Shadow Kayn, his E can be virtually useless if Rhaast gets hit by slow, which means his escapes can be limited. CC is his main enemy.

And again, Kayn still relies a bit more on his team than others, because good ganking opportunities still kind of depend on your teammates. Kayn is squishy early, so ganking under tower with him is usually a suicide. If he can't gank, his transformation will be delayed. If he doesn't get to gank that specific type of players, his necessary transformation will be delayed. His transformation is really reliant on the enemy composition as well. Sometimes Shadow Assassin become available first thanks to the abundance of ranged characters on the enemy's end, but the team needs Rhast more than him, so it requires Kayn to wait 4 mins before he can get the second chance. His way of choosing his 2nd form is really clunky if you ask me.

Yea not sure where people are getting that Kayn is OP from. He gets hardcountered by item 3123 item 3075 summoner 14 in Rhaast form, and Shadow Assassin is countered by not being a moron and going alone half way down the lane. I have a lot of experience on Kayn and I'll tell you if you ignite Rhaast and focus him down hes not that tanky.

Also stop doing the negative 5 IQ flash when I'm already ulted inside of you and you'll see a lot more success.

Fair point but that reduction feels a little weak when there's so much additional healing available...

  • Death's Dance
  • Ravenous Hunter
  • Spirit Visage

To name a few.

You need over 50% additional healing to counter executioners calling.

Illabethe1 votes

He's saying that if you have a Death's dance, you generally ult at low HP, but you're already technically dead by then, because the 33% converted to bleed damage still exists, and most people don't infest above 33% HP. Ie..... like Ignite..... the Dance's bleed will still kill you.

Look I see what you're saying but you must know that I have to build the exact same build path in the exact same order every game. Clearly, this is on Riot.

DeadUnborn2 votes

nah, executioners calling applies it's debuff for 3 seconds and rhaast can infest a target for 2.5, which means with a little bit of timing he gets full heal from ult every time. Also executioners is a terrible item statwise, since it is such a hard counter to most healing champs.

Buying executioners on fighters is very inefficient but the only way to deal with rhasst. ADCS can build it too, and more efficiently, and mages have morello, but rhaast kills most of them in one rotation, except against very specific/feed match ups

Thornmail doesn't even work on rhasst since he doesn't auto that often and usually he does after he ults, also the debuff is one second only

They need to nerf the total duration of infest for base kayn and rhaast by .5 seconds and only buff it for the assasin, or have rhaasts heal reduced during mid game so that if he gets fed he doesn't just go bonkers

xxxDogmanxxx1 votes

wooooosh

Illabethe1 votes

Rhaast's heals aren't only from his ult..... it's every spell.

Thormail works fine, because it does 2 things to Rhaast:

-Severely diminishes the damage done, which also reduces the amount the damage heals him by having a lower amount to calculate off of.

-The 1 second is usually enough since part of Rhaast's combo is an auto attack, and usually, Kayn spams all skills in a short sequence, not spread out.

Both are extremely viable.

I can solo both forms on a friggin Poppy or Pyke . He's not particularly hard.

That item is basically useless against him. His damage is still to overpowering, I picked up Kayn as one of my junglers. Lets just say first game 6/3 Second game 15/4 and every game after 20 kills plus- in Plat One ranked games. #balance. Morellinomicon does Nothing to stop me :)

chipndip11 votes

Rhaast heals on every ability. Cutting that healing severely reduces his up-time in fights, forcing him into blowing ult sooner and on less-than-ideal targets. It's the same thing as buying early anti-heal against Vlad before he gets fed. You do it to put a stop them before they become an issue.

Illabethe1 votes

Damage is only OP if you build a friggin 4-5k HP juggernaut to fuel his self healing with % damage. He's pretty weak if you keep your HP in check and have grievous wounds/armor.

Shadow Assassin is 4fun and only if you want to have a good chance to lose a winning game.

Rhaast is *obey

rtbf2256182418 votes

That is like saying Nasus is op late game.

Kayn has 2 massive weaknesses:

  • Early game dueling
  • A grouped team that can't be surprised by him

If you exploit one of those things, he will become borderline useless. As a Kayn main, i fucking hate grouped teams and i hate enemies who counter-jungle because it ruins my game entirely.

Rhaast is powerful when ahead but so is Assassin because he can farm kills like it's nothing but Rhaast becomes borderline unkillable unless you 1v5 him.

Rhaast is *very good

GayFluffyUnicorn6 votes

That's riot for you. Something like kayn is balanced by being shit early and op in his transformation and riot buffs the early and wonders why champs become overbearing cough fiora.

ModAcademy Kayn22 votes

He got 2 seconds on his Shadow Walk, and slightly more MS on Shadow Assassin's Shadow Walk, how does that suddenly make him overbearing early game? He's still one of the few champions in the game who need multiple rotations just to fight, especially Q.

GayFluffyUnicorn3 votes

I dont know how buffing his early game which is supposed to be weak is making him *overbearing early game. Stay classic boards. Keep talking about stuff you don't seem to understand.

ModAcademy Kayn5 votes

You are aware that it's possible for a champion to be too weak, early game, yeah? And actually look at the changes please. Kayn wasn't given damage or healing for his early game. He was given early game duration. That means, all it does is buff his ability to make plays, it doesn't help him win them directly.

His fighting ability is still bad. You can still fight him the way you normally do. The problem, if there even is one, is Rhaast. The buff they gave him, while fine for Base Kayn, composites more power into the already powerful form of Rhaast, making him much more prevalent in the mid game.

ArtumisPrime1 votes

They. Did. Not. Buff. Kayn's. Early. Game.

The buff to his shadow walk (ONLY IN SHADOW ASSASSIN FORM) was back in 8.17. Almost two months ago.

Are you dense?

Noor Sakata6 votes

Both are good and both are bad , in this snowbally meta , Kayn has a very weak early game that he almost gets invaded by all junglers , even the weakest ones in the meta , Shadow Assassin is ok , but tbh , Rhaast is pretty OP but it feels like , to clean the mess I caused because of the shitty early I did ,so it's pretty much 50/50 even if he is op I still get ignited like 3 times every fight when I play him

SA is stupid broken when ahead.

Rhaast is just stupid broken.

Can't really say SA is that balanced when he can AoE destroy everything in the same frame with WQ and possibly and auto or R added in. I think half the reason why he's even considered weak is just because you can't go rhaast if you're SA lol. He's not auto lose he's just not as efficient in that you can literally do what he does as rhaast abit more slowly but way more reliably and less snowball reliant since its mostly base damage rather then ratios.

Rhaast is disgusting because he still does a boatload of damage while having the sustain and bulkiness to be unkillable. He does max health damage so everybody gets destroyed by him, not just squishies like SA, so generally he gets the job done on everything while SA just punishes full squishy comps. + a knockup which strengthens his utility/engage probability.

Shadow form is fine. If you solo extend in a lane with no peel and expect a mobile Assassin to not kill you, especially one who crosses walls, you’re at fault for getting rekt

Rhaast form is Q U I T E S T R O N G but not OP, just way too strong right now Buy an exe calling and boom hes outtie

Tormentula1 votes

When I play shadow form I literally just E in and QW one shot people lol. If that doesn't kill anything in the game after 1 lethality item, ult auto 100% will. Even under a tower.

Its not really balanced at all. Its probably the quickest assassination in the game since you can Q with the W, and it can hit multiple people. Of course you shouldn't int with it but its stupid easy to do. When ahead kayn can literally just run around and kill everything he wants.

I can't say executioners is really enough for the guy, maybe in a tf but he still can kill your marksmen with a rotation or at least force him to back off for the rest of his team.

But calling SA weak or even fine is a big understatement, just the fact he loses out on rhaast and the several perks he gets (knock, healing, base damage so he can be tankier, tank destroying ult that heals him for a fuck ton afterwards) makes him better in general to assassin who's just that, an assassin and plays exactly like one, abit too powerful.

I disagree. I believe kayns rush ardent censer are just wayyy too ridiculous right now, and they need to tone down his healing powers by 1.

lame op crap champ for noobs to win easily , it should be nerfed hard

Ionian Vulpix2 votes

I personally think Shadow Realm Kayn's damage is a little disgusting (i was really behind and still one shot an enemy Kalista, might just be AD items being broken) for being AoE, but Rhaast is definitely stronger. I'd like him a lot more if his W didn't feel so clunky.

Neptunia xoxo2 votes

Mainly because of Lethality. Without any Lethality items his damage is almost where it should be but yes his damage in general is a little bit high but Lethality is what really causes it to be cancer bullshit tbh.

BULLSEYE892 votes

Base kayn is fine right now, and so is SA. both do well when ahead, bad when behind. the only exception seems to be rhaast, but that's cause of the meta, where he is one of the very few champions left who can extend fights without getting blown up (base and SA don't have that "privilege") his burst is actually almost equal to base, and obviously lesser than SA. but his survivability makes him stand out in this meta. if the meta changed to like a tank meta or something, rhaast wouldn't be nearly as strong as he is now.

all that needs to be done is slightly (again, just SLIGHTLY) reduce his passive healing in rhaast form.

**perfectly balanced, as all things should be. **

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

Rhaast does better in tank metas.....tanks can't punish him early for being formless and he shreds tanks with %max health damage which penetrates MOST armor since he goes BC and CAN pick up a Dominik's together with it. Tank's are health sponges to Rhaast and would do incredibly well when 2-3 are present on a team. The ONLY way he dies is if he gets perfectly chain CC'ed and his team watches him die otherwise if they only do 95% of his health before he gets the ult off then he heals to full off their front line ESPECIALLY if he has Death's Dance.

The Spicy Crit2 votes

Even with Executioner's Calling, i cannot kill Rhaast ever. He needs a nerf on his W, it's so toxic

saltran1 votes

Then improve your gameplay

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

have you tried buying boots? It's tied to a slow skillshot that is telegraphed. You can pretty much only hit it consistently on a target that is already CC'ed since Kayn doesn't have any way to reliably get in range to use W outside of coming out of a wall and even then you can know where he is coming from due to the orb.

Illabethe1 votes

Rhaast isn't OP..... just don't build high HP, and get grievous wounds. He dies. Easy. Over and Over....

did someone say kayn is mediocre. A guy who can charge into 5 people kill 3 and run away
