10K damage in 2.5 seconds....

Cherysse··10 votes·2,113 views

Recently I was playing JG Leona (yes, it works... with the proper runes), and I was literally carrying the ranked game, but then it came to a point where in several team fights Miss Fortune ult would just melt us all DOWN. And when I checked the "killer" damage tab I saw 1900 damage coming from MF ult... AND I HAD ARMOR, 260 points of armor to be certain.

The thing is... comparing MF ult to other similar ults one can get to the conclusion that MF ult is superior in terms of damage and safety... but I will make the comparison anyways:

Katarina: literally leaps into your face and is limited to hit only 3 champs at the same time, it can be easily interrupted due to the distance. Nunu: He has to be super close for it to work, also it doesnt deal damage until it is stoped or it finishes. Galio: High cc, not so much damage, the user can be interrupted, he takes damage, low distance. Karthus: can be prevented, it has a great indicator to tell you when it is going to be casted and the damage is not so high. Caitlyn: in terms of ADC ults caitlyn ult is similar to mf, but... it can be interrupted, it has a LONG indicator, it can be stopped, and the damage is not so high. VelKoz: he can move his ult, but it can be sometimes hard to control and the total damage amount is in comparison not as high as MF ult...

What happens with MF?

  1. She is a lane bully, with the capacity to poke without using high amounts of mana, therefore eliminating her old need to buy a mana item.
  2. She has a powerful slow with her E and is able to proc Thunderlord whenever she wants from it... actually she does.
  3. She is now harder to reach because her moblity was moved towards her w, a mobility which can be compared to Sivir's R.
  4. DAMN! you added critical to her ult.... YES RIOT YOU DID! this means that her ult can get to deal 200% damage if it crits... NO! It can get to deal 250% (and even more with crit damage runes!) damage, because every ADC builds an Infinity Edge... and yes! This MF didn't even build life steal, actually she didnt have so much AD, she had an Infinity, Stattik and Rapidfire Cannon (80% CRIT CHANCE).... I bet her ult could deal up to 3500 damage if she just builds Essence Reaver, 3 Infinity Edge, Dominik Regards and the boots.... because... why not?

Actually Riot do not nerf her, don't you dare! Because I am going to start abusing her! Because now you added all the advantages of Mage Fortune into ADC Fortune! now it is pointless for her to build ap because her ult alone can be a pentakill! And even more than before folks! Try it! dont build attack speed! just damage and crit!

And please Riot give me some of that pot you smoked when you thought that adding such a crit ratio to MF ult without controlling it like you did with Yasuo or Katarina (limiting her ult to 3 targets) was a good idea!

She's squishy, immobile and relies heavily on a front line.

What I'm curious to know is, how the heck do you let her ult for that long to rack up 2k damage? It's not instant and while it does do a chunk of damage, its done over a fair amount of time.

Leona's ult distance is around the same as MF's ult range, the moment you see her use it, she becomes sitting duck for yours.

Katarina's ult also does damage significantly faster than MF's ultimate.

Vel'Koz's ult is different from MF ult as well. MF can pretty much launch it whenever she wants to. Ideally, you want to use E before so you can keep them slowed in bullet storm, but its not imperative to do so.

Vel'Koz's ult is meant to be a finishing ability on top of a chain of all his other abilities, additionally his is controllable. Land all of them in succession, you have a guaranteed dead squishy. MF, not so much, only time you have a dead squishy is if its in conjunction with other CC.

who needs mobility when you just press e behind you and run away like its green hill zone and your a blue hedgehog

Targetted area slow which slows for 60%, not exactly game breaking, in a age where junglers and supports usually run swifts now, this is next to nothing. It's primary use is thunderlord proc, which I think would be the only excessive part of her kit. Ezreal is a much bigger offender of what you're describing.

Her strut also takes quite a while to ramp up, if she uses it immediately to escape, you're going to break it, if she uses it a fair distance away from you, chances are you wouldn't catch her, even if she didn't have strut.

As I mentioned in my original post, I'm just curious as to why of all champions, the concerns over MF comes from someone playing Leona, her and nautilius eat MF's for breakfast in an even matchup.

Whut Thuh 1 votes

but when your still in the laning phase and the jungler ganks at whatever level past 3 you almost always escape unless they are someone like malph or sejuani who have lots of cc

I hate my ADC1 votes

Then wtf was the bot lane doing? Make it Rain only cover a target area, it doesn't cover the entire lane like a Gankplank's ult. If the jungle attack from the flank and the ADC + support jump in, she won't be able to escape with Make it Rain alone.

your thinking of them pushed out im thinking of them around the middle part and with someone like a lux support who can just walk into the bush and try to get some nice mellee ranged cc (not alistar)

She always used her ult from a safe distance and when I had spented mine, literally if you want to win a team fight against her you have to kill her first.

And I picked Leona because my team had no CC at all.

This is where ability management comes into play. Especially against an MF as a Leona, that's pretty critical. Sorry, I just don't see it, Leona is one of her hardest counters.

Cherysse1 votes

The problem isn't that she was always able to land her ult, the problem is that her ult is so strong that she can melt a whole team down, and it is even safer than other ults.

save ult for her ult

Well in most cases you are supposed to kill the adc first in teamfights if im not mistaken. I main MF (pre-change and post-change) and she is super easy to counter. Her ult doesnt allow her to move so use that to your advantage. Also getting close to her allows you to easily sidestep all the incoming dmg from her ult. Obviously you were using your abilities on the wrong champions if she was allowed to ult for that long.

Cherysse1 votes

I was the only champ with cc in my team, therefore I was the only one that could engage, when she used her ult everything was done.

WarlockLaw1 votes

If you were the only engage champion on your team, and she was so fed, then clearly you should only have engaged when she was out of position. Just because you can drop an ult on 3 people doesn't mean that's always the correct play as the only cc tank on a team. Sometimes you have to hard focus one champ every fight even if that means missed opportunities to catch out 2-3 people. Now if you were landing 4 man ults and were still losing teamfights then the game was lost anyway.

well there you have it

she deals a ton of damage

kill her first. Save your ult for her. simple

Quepha3 votes

You were Leona. You had a number of tools to shut down an ulting Miss Fortune and you should have saved one of those tools for every time you heard her laughing.

KyroRayne3 votes

Just to point something out about Leona and MF. MF's ulting range is outside of Leona's E range. So you'd have to walk through the enemy team to even get to her. You could ult MF to stun her, but wait, Leona's ult has a 1 second cast time, small stun center, and shorter range than MF's cone all before you can stun her with that. She'll just have gotten off most of her ult anyway. So team is shredded already.

Back to Leona's E. It's only a snare with a dash time. Meaning that it does NOTHING to MF ulting. By the time you reach her, she's done ulting anyway and your team is gone. You can't body block for your team unless you're Yasuo or Braum. All you really need is Amumu ult, Wukong, or Galio ult to keep everyone in MF's ult without repercussion. MF just does too much damage in too short a period of time to too many champions.

If you're at the very tail end of MF's ult, that means you're the only target getting hit since you're the front line (unless you're not on the front line of your team for some reason) and you can also neutralize her damage by taking a short step backwards.

Diving the enemy team is Leona's job, that's why you build tank items on top of a tank steroid. You either E onto MF and then Q her to stun, or E her front line to get in range of ult, and you should be able to do this fast enough to cut out a big chunk of MF's full 3 seconds of channel time.

The thing is I couldnt doo anything with my skills on CD, her ult high damage is just too much while she keeps the advantages of a regular ADC.

Your skills were on cooldown when there was a high priority target that needed to eat stuns or your team would die? This really sounds like you werer constantly making mistakes in teamfights and spending your stuns frivolously and now you're on the forums complaining until Riot changes the game so you can button mash and win without thinking.

Hopefully your team mates can do something on their own. Leona should not actually be powerful enough to 1v5 the enemy.

I hate my ADC1 votes

Q the Zed, Ult the MF. If you ult someone already in melee as a Leona when there is a threat at range like MF. You are doing it wrong.

I hate my ADC2 votes

Than keep your ult for her ult? The MF outplayed you if she used her ult with the proper positioning to wreck your entire team and you had nothing to stop her from doing so. Especially in a ranked game where you can counter pick. Leona can easily shut down an MF.

Also, comparing her passive being refreshed by W to Sivir's Ult is just wrong. MF passive get removed on any damage taken. She will lose her passive speed the moment she get attacked after using her W. And her W should only be used for the attack speed part or in extreme case of disengage.

I'm amazed people are bitching about ADCs when they are the first to get trampled in the current snowballing meta.

KyroRayne1 votes

You'd think that this is possible, but you're also required to peel for your own adc from their bruisers and tanks, and for God's sake, don't forget about the assassin mid laner.

I can dive the enemy team, but yeah, good job suggesting diving an ulting MF. That's instadeath right there unless you're Malphite, Maokai, Galio, or Wukong. Leona doesn't have the damage or survivability to do this effectively in this situation. Any other situation, HELL YEAH. Dive in as Leona and face roll them, but not an ult'ing MF. You're better off just peeling for your adc if they live. That's all you can do. I'd love to be able to body block her ult just like you can do with Cait's ult.

Yes, body blocking would be a huge nerf to MF's ult, but at the same time, she's good in lane, good in team fights, can self peel against Bruisers because of her AoE slow on her E, and also has her W to make her run faster for 3 seconds AND is extended for up to another 3 seconds. Overall, she's very good as a marksman without needing her ult to crit, or let her ult still crit, but allow body blocking by only champs or even reduce the damage per unit hit like Ez's and Twitch's ults.

Quepha1 votes

{quoted}

Leona doesn't have the damage or survivability to do this effectively in this situation.

Leona with her W up has an insane amount of resistances and her passive gives her a ton of damage if her team can follow up. Plus, as a tank, your job is to cc the enemy so your team can follow up and if you die during the process then that's a fair trade.

KyroRayne1 votes

Apparently you missed the whole part where the OP even said that he had 260 armor and still got shredded by just her ult. Having armor doesn't really mean anything anymore with the changes to Last Whisper/ Lord dominic's regard. Bonus armor is just blown away now and Thornmail doesn't mean anything to her ult. I main Leona and have since Season 3. I'm very aware of her resistance increase with her W, and aware of just how much damage MF puts out now with the changes and new items. You just can't do anything alone with Leona against ADCs anymore. You need someone else to dive with you, but again IN THIS SITUATION, Leona doesn't have the survivability against MF because your team is already dead or close to it unless MF screws up her ult.

It's just a useless death to dive in against MF once she starts ulting in a team fight unless you have a whole dive comp team. The only time you can do anything against her is before she can ult.

Quepha1 votes

I also missed the part where they said Leona jungle works but apparently everyone on the enemy team got fed so they had to use their stuns on Zed and every other enemy champion before even considering MF. It doesn't really sound like Leona jungle works when everyone on the enemy team turns into huge threats and you don't get the gold to survive them.

KyroRayne1 votes

Leona jungle is kind of situational. I wouldn't recommend it in this meta with the Xin changes, Udyr buff with Runic Echoes, or Graves jungle. She is a very powerful initiator, but has to rely on her team. If her team comp is poor, running Leona jungle is a bad choice.

I've ran it before, but not this season because of the changes to champs and items.

ABlueQuaker2 votes

Except you ignore that part where she has no Dashes, no defensive steroids and is incredibly squishy. Ignoring the fact that her Ult is a channel ability and, consequently, can be interrupted, you can 1-shot her pretty damn easily.

Cherysse2 votes

I Know it, but what about VelKoz? Kat? and others? her ult can be stopped, yes, but it is damn superior to other ults due to the fact that it is safer, it has a better range and a lot more damage potential. Have you seen an ult that can just melt down a whole team and she can just still win a trade because she is still an adc with an adc build and still have the advantages of an AD Caster / MageFortune S3.

I hate my ADC1 votes

Different champion, different toolkit. MF only tools is her damage and a long CD area slow.

VelKoz? He got a stun, slow and his ult is much deadlier when used against a single target. Katarina? She reset her god damn ability on a kill/assist and has dash. She can wipe your entire team faster than the first bullet of MF ult can travel up to you.

Also, you are mentioning heroes that are weak in the current state of the game. What about Zed? He can travel from one turret to another up to you and kill you under your own turret while missing half of his abilities and teleport back to his own turret safe and sound. Yet, here you are complaining about MF and her toolkit that is purely focused on damage even tho she does less than the flavor of the month.

Whut Thuh 2 votes

but for the most part her team usually just blocks everything and everything because they dont need to do damage

Snake Town2 votes

I think if they added a small charge time to the front end of her ult (like 0.5 - 1 second), the enemy tanks would have a chance to react to it, balancing it out more.

Cherysse1 votes

If they controlled the fact that the new crit scaling and masteries already add tons of % damage to it then it would be good.

Snake Town1 votes

I kind of like the idea of it doing crazy damage though, as its kind of her thing. However as it stands now, even with instant reactions, the travel time of most cc will allow her to get off most of her ult regardless.

mike in the box1 votes

hummm this is actually pretty cool. like a .25 second charge would be cool enough. would feel kinda like lux or ez ult.

Drehirth2 votes

love when people post on different accounts to complain about how they got rekt by a champion. Let's face it: you and your team completely ignored something that shouldn't be ignored and got smoked because of it.

-essence reaver is pretty core, and needed if she wants to spam abilities

-her e was nerfed rather well in 6.1 and really brought her back in line as far as that is concerned tbh. I prefer fervor on her now again anyway.

-her w is good for running to farm side waves etc but it is not mobility that will save you very often in a fight, you've got to be kidding me with comparing it to sivir ult.. it's cool for lucian and ez to have low cooldown dashes... but not cool at all for mf to have a movement speed increase that goes away whenever somebody sneezes on you right? >.>

-why is making her ult actually worth using a bad thing :l ?

armor stacking is actually very difficult to deal with on mf, if there's somebody stacking armor before you get your core items it very much slows down your build to build armor pen to deal with it. absolute worst nightmares are Rammus Malphite especially because you can't even dash away like other adcs can. I would actually put leona high on the list of somebody that can commit to making sure you have a rough time as mf.

I saw your list of random excuses for why you couldn't do anything on leona but i just don't buy it. if you were looking for the mf ult and ready you could EASILY have shut it down if the game was anywhere remotely close.

Sorry I really hate saying this but id be very surprised if you weren't bronze, and with this mentality you probably wouldn't be able to do well on any adc in general so go ahead and try playing her :l

Veraska1 votes

I knew mf would be a solo Q power house when they decided her ult needed to do actual damage aoe is king in league of legends

Imagine wukong, now make him a ranged champion and get rid of all of his bad matchups in lane, that's what mf is right now

Meep Man1 votes

But what if I have Wukong, Katarina, and Miss Fortune? Then maybe add a Malphite and Galio?

Veraska1 votes

Get a leona sup and an amumu jungle and you got the perfect dynamic Q composition!

Anomander1 votes

I am not gonna say MF isn't a strong champion. I will say she has lots of counter play. She has no mobility. She is super squishy.

It sounds like you didn't play in the age of Black Cleavers. When Black cleaver was not a unique passive people would literally just build 4-5 Black Cleavers. MF + amumu was freelo for WEEKS. This mf is not nearly as powerful as a full BC MF of old.

I would say that over all Mf is balanced perhaps a little on the strong side but at least she has counter play.

Whut Thuh 2 votes

curse of the sad bullet time baby but people still like to get fervor and bc on her because it stacks on each wave of her ult but ya i saw videos from that age and its so dumb it was laughable. oh look the whole team is chasing the mf but they dont see that ammumu in the bushes *ammumu q ult *mf ult

Stars Shaper1 votes

But isn't that balanced out by how exposed she gets?

I know she'll have a team to protect her (if they are not stupid) but as a Leona shouldn't it be easy to interrupt?

Sincere question, I'm not defending MF I too think it's too much for a singel character.

Cerbearus1 votes

Then they killed Mage Fortune because AD Fortune was too strong (see: gutted base damage and slow % on E)

Shadow Hazard1 votes

I agree that it is a bit out of hand. I think it should be more like lucian's ult in that it can't pass through targets, that way someone can decide to eat it to save their team if need be.

Lugg1 votes

MF should have the strongest ult of all the ADCs. She is literally a sitting duck while it is channeled and the ult is pretty easy to get out of as well. If you are dumb enough to stay in it the whole time, you honestly deserve to die.

Skia Asteri1 votes

{quoted}

  1. DAMN! you added critical to her ult.... YES RIOT YOU DID! this means that her ult can get to deal 200% damage if it crits... NO! It can get to deal 250% (and even more with crit damage runes!) damage, because every ADC builds an Infinity Edge

It only crits for 20% damage increase, 30% with item 3031 .

Nagoh Shan1 votes

You were a leo.

How did she channel the whole thing?

with the proper team comp, MF is pretty busted. just get a frontline and just watch as the enemy team can do nothing to stop you from blowing your ~4k+ damage load all over them. and at high elo, that's how people build miss fortune (how you described it)
