Compensation. Where is it?

Another post got me thinking.

There are lots of games here in Japan that undergo sudden maintenance for a bug or a server crash. That sort of thing is inevitable from time to time when you run an online game. However, when it happens, they always compensate the player somehow. 1000 free gems. A free XP booster. Something like that. This is especially true when the problem could mean people losing real money value.

What does Riot do? As often as its game goes down, or new content causes old content to horribly break, what has Riot ever done for its players but fix the issue? Fixing the issue is great, but when it's affecting ranked play, wasting booster time, that sort of thing... Don't your players deserve a little compensation of some kind? Your game isn't anywhere near so good that just being able to play again is a reward in and of itself. Japan has games ten times as polished and enjoyable that still provide very meaningful compensation for unscheduled downtime.

Stop treating us like we're obligated to be here, Riot.

League of Legends has been a completely free game for the past 10 years. Just because you're unable to play because of an unlucky bug one random Thursday night does not entitle you to "Compensation".

Stop treating us like we're obligated to be here, Riot.

They aren't obligated to give anyone anything for any reason.

It’s a free game. Don’t like it? Don’t play it.

You didn't pay for enough skins to keep the lights on.

Don't forget if riots stores go down they fix it within minute but if it affects the players ability to actually play they don't give a fuck and let it stay fucked up for hours

You aren't entitled to anything from Riot.

This game is free to play. So this means you aren't paying for a service. So if the service is unavailable, You aren't losing value from an investment. This means Since Riot isn't costing you anything. They don't owe you anything.

Japan is a very different culture to America. In Japan this may very well be the way they do things, But not in America.

And new content causing old content to break?????? what????? do you mean new champs making old champs obsolete due to power creep? Because that's a dumb argument to demand compensation.

"Japan has games 10 times as polished" Ummm what? Unless you are referring specifically to the companies of Nintendo, Konami, and From Software. Then I'm gonna be honest here. They probably aren't "10 times as polished" because if they were, they would have a larger market in the west just as American games have a market around the world. Konami, and Fromsoftware I've never heard doing this. And Nintendo occasionally does it, but I've only heard about it in their mobile market. Hell even if they did it in the console market. This is a different market. This is the Western PC Market.

When Riot has server malfunctions they are on top of it immediately. Because with a company the size of Riot Games it's not an unreasonable figure to say every hour that their server is down, costs them Millions. So if they need to do maintenance and the server is down for 1 hour. They have already lost well over a Million USD. So why would they give out free shit after taking a large hit to their bottom line?

You can have your opinion on what you think is better, but they aren't treating you like your obligated to be here. You are treating them like they owe you something. Which they don't.

That's what I was just thinking, I remember that every time Pokémon Shuffle suffered any kind of issues, next day or update they gifted you something, sometimes I opened the app and received a messege like "sorry for the problems we expirienced "day/month" at "hour/minute", we want to gift you 50 lives, sorry again" and I was like I didn't see any problems but thanks Pokémon >:D

TBH Riot threats us like trash, they don't care about community, they don't make any effort to build a relationship. Honestly I'm 100% sure that rioters have no idea what a love mark is and how to make it...
