Community Lore Survey: If you were a champion...

Let's say you won a contest, and Riot has given you the opportunity to put "yourself" in the game, as it were. You know, a character of your design.

Who would you serve? (Would you serve one of the great nations? One of the city-states? Would you hail from the Shadow Isles? Or would you be an independent wild card?)

What three champions would you have connections to?

What would your role be?

What would be your weapon of choice? (League champions fight with all sorts of wild things. What would you fight with?)

What would your champion's gender be? (Presumably this would be your own gender as well, but hey, I'm not your mother!)

The idea here is to get a measure for how the landscape of champions and factions would look if a ton of players had a chance to be represented in the game. Sure, I could just ask "Which faction do you like most?", but I feel like the picture this type of survey paints is so much more fascinating.

I will begin, as an example.

[WHO WOULD YOU SERVE?] Ionia. I love a scrappy defender, and if I had the chance, I'd want to be in there holding back the invasion with them.

[WHAT THREE CHAMPIONS WOULD YOU HAVE CONNECTIONS TO?] Irelia (comrade-in-arms), Darius (bitter rival), LeBlanc (forbidden love...? This one is largely a meta take on her being my former main, to be honest.)

[WHAT WOULD YOUR ROLE BE?] Definitely a supportank. Ionia needs more tanks!

[WEAPON OF CHOICE?] Fitting Ionia, I'd fight with a naginata type weapon. My theoretical champion would use sweeping strikes to keep enemies at bay. ... Hmm, now I have an idea for a champion concept...

[WHAT WOULD YOUR CHAMPION'S GENDER BE?] Male.

So let's hear it, from anyone interested. The game may have lost me, but the lore hasn't, and I'm really interested to see what it would look like if we all had a chance to make our "inner champion" a part of it.

UPDATE: When a reply gets my creative juices going, I'll reply to it with a cobbled together kit idea as my brain is seeing it, just for fun.

EDIT: GOODNESS this took off. Thanks to everyone who got in on this! It's really fun to read through everyone's concepts. I'm having trouble keeping up with the statistics above, though, so I may quit keeping them for the sake of my eyes. :P Would love to keep reading everyone's ideas, though, and coming up with theoretical kits when a concept floods my brain with ideas!

###WHO WOULD YOU SERVE Reluctantly, Zaun. I'd be our old lady champion, originally from the Freljord, but she left her home for better work prospects elsewhere. Captured by a Chem Baron and forced to work in a Cultivaire specializing in northern flora.

###WHAT THREE CHAMPIONS WOULD YOU HAVE CONNECTIONS TO Ekko Ekko: He's a good kid. I've known him and his mother for years and I try to slip them a piece of fruit every now and then. Poor thing thinks I'm here of my own volition and I don't have the heart to tell him, though his mother knows. I'd go through fire to try to keep the little piece of childhood innocence intact just a little longer.

Viktor Viktor: I can't donate much, but I am a faithful follower of the Glorious Evolution, and go to the nearest church every week. I've started coughing a lot worse in the evenings, but I believe that the Evolution will save me for my devotion. Maybe if one day I can be more metal, I can be strong enough to get away from the Chem Baron and see snow again. I've never met him, of course.

Janna F***ing Janna: What is even the point of her? What's her message to the masses, eh? Just don't fight? Wait until a better day comes? Take a BREATH? My worship is far better given to a vision of self improvement and action!

(Bonus because I couldn't decide) Gangplank Gangplank: Such a shame he died. As soon as the news hit Zaun, every corner hawker was selling washer-copies of the Very True Stories of the life of the romantic Reaver King. So handsome. So mysterious. So dashing! They went into typical Zaun hot and steamy details of the women (and sometimes men) who he rocked the boats of. Such a shame he's dead.

###ROLE Support. Definitely. 100% (Though someone'll try me jungle of course).

###WEAPON OF CHOICE Either a big pair of secateurs, or a industrial sized, Zaun made, horticultural mister. Probably the latter because I'd really rather not get into melee range.

###GENDER Female.

If I were doing this closer to 'me' I'd probably be in Shurima rather than Zaun, and more of an architect than a gardener. LA sure is hot and desert like.

Who would you serve? Zaunite smuggler located in Bilgewater. Someone gotta supply the Black Market Brawler.

What three champions would you have connections to? MissFortune (she did start a civil war and boosted my weapon sale, but also made the job riskier) Gangplank (former favourite customer as he guarenteed safe transactions, but it seems he will return) Caitlyn (reason why some smuggling operations fail)

What would your role be?

assassin/marksmen, smuggling is all about going about it stealthily, but sometimes the plan changes

What would be your weapon of choice?

Hextech harpoon launcher, with variety of different uses, and good old flashbangs

What would your champion's gender be? Male

[WHO WOULD YOU SERVE?] Ionia by far. In my opinion it is the most beautiful place in the lore and fits my nature of loving the natural world.

[WHAT THREE CHAMPIONS WOULD YOU HAVE CONNECTIONS TO?] Jhin I may main him in-game, but that doesn't save me from becoming his next masterpiece. That being said, this champion would have been affected by Jhin in some way, either by witnessing a performance or sneaking away from their own, and is now either traumatized by the experience or finding themselves chasing the dragon, wanting to relive that original moment. XayahRakan This champion has a deep connection the the natural world. That being said, they would probably enjoy being around Vastayah more than actual humans, as they are a unique race that could take on any size or shape, and being part human part animal. They would know a lot about Vastayah, perhaps even speaking their language/s. Shen And pretty much the rest of the ninja, most likely. Would have heard they were hunting Jhin and offered them aid, or tried to stop them, depending on how their encounter with Jhin affected them.

[WHAT WOULD YOUR ROLE BE?] Jungler. This champion, again, has a deep connection to the natural world and would be most at home in the jungle. Though they could be played support, if you're experienced enough with them.

[WEAPON OF CHOICE?] A Wood Weaver, someone who can coax the trees into doing whatever they want them to. They would specialize in/be known for causing dead trees to bloom and quickly regrowing damaged forests. They live to bring life to where there is none.

[WHAT WOULD YOUR CHAMPION'S GENDER BE?] Female, but not a slutty one. I'd like for her to have cloths and not be overly flirtatious.

If we were just taking ourselves and placing them in the game. Then I would be a middle-aged scholar whose former strength has long passed me by. Probably in Targon shouting at the Aspects and getting smote in 30 seconds.

If we're going to do the idealized version of myself.

SERVE

Demacia. I'm a medieval historian. I like medieval stuff. Plus Demacia has the whole small but most elite army thing going, and isn't dependent on magic to do things. Sounds good to me. Could do without the xenophobia though. And the decor could get monotonous. White is a pretty boring color for every damn building.

CONNECTIONS

This is kind of tough. I like the concept of Demacia plenty, but have no actual attachment to any Demacian champion. Jarvan is pretty boring for a leader. Garen/Lux have their own thing going on.

I'd probably just respect Garen without getting too wrapped up in his personal affairs.

I'd never really understand his like of Taric, who I'd see as a waste of talent and opportunity who should have been punished more severly for his gross incompetence.

And I'd probably respect the hell out of Darius and Swain. Worthy opponents and all that.

WHAT WOULD YOUR ROLE BE

Top. It's just what I play.

WEAPON OF CHOICE

So here is where things would get interesting for me. So, there are multiple ways I could go with this. Technically the weapons I am actually trained in using are pistols, rifles, knives, longsword, and rapier and buckler. The first two don't fit Demacia. The last one wouldn't fit my body type in a game (besides it's easily my worst). That leaves longsword. However, LoL already has a lot of guys with big swords. None of them actually use them well, but they have them.

So, again going for idealized version of myself. I have always loved the medieval pollax. It can stab, it can cut, it can hack, it can bludgeon. Ahh, so much fun. The few times I got to handle one felt great, too. So that's my primary idea. Being my favorite weapon and all.

The other idea is to go back to my own life. I started poor and worked my way up to comfortably upper middle class. If I wanted to go that route with my character's story arc, I'd have him start as a pikeman. It'd be interesting to see how Riot would handle the concept of a pike in the game. A melee weapon with a huge range, all about area control, and movement denial, with little to no mobility for myself.

WHO WOULD YOU SERVE

I'd be a young adult female from Noxus, who has deep pride in her country and serves them well, but has always admired Ionia and it's beauty/culture. Confident in her abilities, but also shy when it comes to praise.

WHAT THREE CHAMPIONS WOULD YOU HAVE CONNECTIONS TO

Katarina Katarina: Met with her in battle a few times and became good acquaintances, looks up to her for her failures and her successes. Sees Katarina as a perfect symbol of what Noxus should be, as well as what I aspire to be.

Draven Draven: Has met Draven a few times in festivities (bars, his shows, etc.). Not the biggest fan of his personality but realizes that he rallies a lot of the younger crowd and their passion to serve Noxus.

Zed Zed: Never met Zed face to face, and wouldn't want to. Having seen him fight from afar, I have respect for the arts he uses, as well a the diverse fighting style carried out by his Order.

(Bonus because I couldn't decide)

ROLE Mage, with hints of supportive qualities.

WEAPON OF CHOICE A spiked/barbed whip that I use in the style of a ribbon dancer. Graceful but extremely deadly (for the look of the weapon, think Kai from Samurai Warriors 3, pic here: http://photobucket.com/gallery/user/KoeiAnimeFan330/media/bWVkaWFJZDoxMjMzOTI2OA==/?ref=)

GENDER Female, long hair, probably layered with fringe bangs. Slim with longer legs. Revealing outfit, anklets, bangles, etc etc.

Who would you serve? Zaun. He knows the city, it's people, it's secrets. He'd be pulling strings to get actors in place and would run jobs for the right price (when asked to assassinate, he only does it when he feels it's justified.) His goals are keeping zaun free, both from the piltover authority and the chembarons.

What three champions would you have connections to? Jinx

Childhood friend, allows me to keep it vague as her past is. He has regrets. She's also a major headache for him when he's pulled into helping with one of her "pranks"

Singed

Used to be his mentor for a while, ran odd jobs for him. Taught him what he knows of chemtech. Modified his body leaving scars on his arms/legs, was with consent.

Twitch

The sewers bid safe passage as long as you bring cheese to pay the toll.

Bonus: Camille Killed his mother when she left piltover. Once got as far as getting his hands around her neck, before passing out from bloodloss.

And most other piltover/zaun champs

What would your role be? Mid/top Marksman fighter hybrid. With about 400 range and empowered aa's in melee range. With optional AP scaling for fun.

What would be your weapon of choice?

Chemtech gunblade. Cuts and melts through armor and flesh.

Lux (Crush & Fellow Illumintaor - "So... bright... mmm, it feels so good...") Jarvan (Respect - "Look, I'm not saying that magic should go entirely wild but you're right; we're still in need of some serious reformations.") Evelynn (Apprehension & Fear - "I- I can feel your presence. You can't hide fr- you want to do WHAT to me WHERE?!")

What would your role be?

Jungle. Heavy focus on split-pushing and objective control over ganking.

What would be your weapon of choice? (League champions fight with all sorts of wild things. What would you fight with?)

My mind. Because my champ a psyker. "RIP THEIR THOUGHTS ASUNDER!!!"

What would your champion's gender be?

Attack Helicopter. ... By which I mean Male. ... sigh one day we will see a psychic attack helicopter... :(

I have a feeling that if I join this create a character madness, it'd be boring, but, well, here goes (this might take a while, so, once I think through just what I'd want my character to be, I'll leave a TL:DR at the end).

Given my life so far, likely to be a nomad (I've lived in 5 states and over a dozen cities). Tied to a big name religion pretty strongly (NOT the Glorious Evolution. Accented scientists who like to remove limbs and "remove human weaknesses" are always evil. Hollywood has told me so), as my father is one of the, uh, priests of said religion (even if, right now, he's a teacher and not a preacher).

Like Ezreal, I can be smart, but haven't always lived up to it. I've enjoyed learning about my Scottish ancestors, so give me a kilt and accent to match. Sticking to the Highland theme, maybe a claymore and a targe, with a dirk as a backup/alternate. I do not shout "There can be only one" while beheading people though. That's a different franchise.

So, belief in a religion (associated with mages, typically), weapons (warrior), and nomad (often a thief, or at least rumored to be) all add up to what, exactly? A Paladin? A Barbarian Paladin (because the Romans thought the Picts were Barbarians)?

Friendly with? Uh, the not evil champions? He started off as a nomad, so he isn't apart of the Everyone Hates Noxus Club (though he might smite some Noxians if he gets the chance, especially the Undead Juggernaut). Bilgewater is a wretched hive of scum and villainy, Zaun full of evil scientists, Piltover has plenty of corruption, and I'm unsure of the other regions. Oh, wait, the Void... yeah, that's undeniably alien and needs to be destroyed.

He'd probably like Demacia though. He finds himself agreeing with a lot of their ideas and principles, but maybe not their execution (as something might well exist on paper that doesn't exist in practice). He certainly would not care for their treatment of mages, as magic is likely considered a gift from whatever god this fellow follows in this particular universe.

TLDR: A male, sword and shield wielding, tartan wearing wandering barbarian Paladin who serves his god faithfully and is an ally to good and a nightmare to you (err... well, evil, I guess) who has no particular quarrel with any of the nation/city-states on the continent, and seeks to root out evil and behead it. Any Void creatures he comes across also get beheaded.

Got anything for that?

What three champions would you have connections to? Allies : Darius Darius and Katarina Katarina Enemy : Riven. Riven

Darius could be like my commander, since the legion; meanwhile, Katarina could be a sibling or half sibling. That leaves Riven being the traitor, that I saw desert batte.

What would your role be? _Top, Fighter. _ (Even thought I'm a support main XD)

WHO WOULD YOU SERVE

No one. At least no one for long periods of time or one single person. I would originate from Noxus, and after realizing the potential profit in war, would leave my home country and travel the globe, being an Arms Dealer, who has no qualms with assisting both sides of two countries at war if it means I get a decent profit out of it.

From traveling I would have many connections to people from all over the globe, but not all of them being friendly once they realize that I don't care if I sell weapons to both sides.

Toplane Tank. Sometimes you gotta make use of all these weapons you have.
